Rating: Summary: Very good survival story Review: Robinson Crusoe is a very good book! Some parts of the book were a bit unbelivable like when the wrecked ship returnd for him to get supplies. I thought that the first few chapters were really boring but if you stick to it , it while get better.
Rating: Summary: It was pretty good Review: Robinson Crusoe is a very well written novel. This classic tells the story of a man and his adventures at sea. A large part of the novel tells of Robinson Crusoe's stay on an uninhabited island for a long time. Daniel Defoe wrote a great story although it does tend to drag on at times. I found this book very interesting and overall an enjoyable but tough book to read
Rating: Summary: BORING???? Review: As I look over the reviews of the classic works of literature, I am appalled by how often I see the word boring being used. I guess it's because great books don't come with big screens, speakers and a joy stick. Welcome to the Millenium
Rating: Summary: I'm not sure why it's a classic! Review: After you get past the unbearable first few chapters it gets a little better. found it a hard book to follow and enjoy at the same time. But it's a classic so you have to read it someday!
Rating: Summary: Make the bad man stop! Review: Personally, I would have rather been trapped on a deserted island for a couple of decades with a wreck of a ship than read this classic again. Defoe brings new meaning ot the word verbose!
Rating: Summary: An example of the English novel in its infancy Review: Robinson Crusoe is one of the first English novels. Written by Daniel DeFoe in the early 18th century during the rise of economic theory, this book chronicles the struggle of an economic hero shipwrecked on an island. He takes advantage of people, always looking to make money or increase economic value. Although Crusoe has religious experiences and gets preachy at times (DeFoe was of Puritan stock at a time when Puritanism was a significant force), Crusoe is a practical man. He does not let morals get in the way of carving out a prosperous life -- there are scenes where the main character is no role model. The novel is episodic, with Crusoe hopping from one scene to another. The narration isn't smooth. However, the "flaws" when compared to later writings may be forgiven because Robinson Crusoe is an early novel. Writers had not worked out the fine points of the genre. DeFoe is an important early English novelist who cobbled together economic theory, religious opinion, travel writing, and borrowed material from a contemporary shipwreck victim to create a work of fiction. Robinson Crusoe is often mislabelled as a childrens book. Perhaps in a watered down abridgement, it is a good children's book. The original, complete, unabridged work is a literary classic that should be read by any student of English literature.
Rating: Summary: Great Book of Adventure Review: Robinsone Crusoe is truly an amazing book of adventure. It details the emotional and physical struggles of a man cat away on a desolate island. This book also has great moral value as it shows the comfort a person recieves in a situation that appears terrible as he turns his life towards God. Also provided, are great insights into the world of the time of Daniel DeFoe. There is a reason this book is so widely read.
Rating: Summary: Okay; But Keeps Going and Going and Going Review: This book was assigned to me for summer reading projects. This book was okay, but it kinda went on and on and on. It was a hard book to understand and the language was difficult to comprehend and follow. The story took place awhile ago and the languaged depicted is not the same as now, and may be hard for some people to understand! If you are not a true adventurous person and not really interested in non- fiction, then I would not suggest this book for you to read!
Rating: Summary: Yuck! Review: I don't care I don't know I didn't read it but it is an old fogey book it is boring who wrote it what is it called again oh sorry i didn't mean what i put there i meant that it is an old fogey book it is boring who wrote it what is it called aaagh i died
Rating: Summary: My dad made me read it, you can guess the rest... Review: I am not about to debate wether or not this was a well written book, because it was. Obviously. The problem is, the book just kind of drags on. Not until the last two chapters did it seem to pick up. Be cautious going into this book. It's not as exciting as you'd think it would be...what with a man being stuck on an island all by himself n all...
