Rating: Summary: Spanking, more spanking...Is there anything else? Review: I purchased this book based on the reviews I had read and on a coworker's comment: "It was so hot I had to put it down." Please! Are you kidding? I like Erotica, but not when the author has no imagination. This book is full of nothing but one spanking after another. While spanking may be fun every once in a while, page after page of spanking got old really quickly. I understand the whole idea of control, etc., but please! Half way through this book, I put it down and swore I would not continue. Unfortunately, I convinced myself that at some point the book had to be about something else. Trust me it isn't. Just leave Anne Rice on the shelf.
Rating: Summary: Where can I find a Prince Like That Review: The telling of the Beauty story by Anne Rice was very hot and unexpected. As a child I have enjoyed the fairytale story but had no idea of the sexual overtones ommited from the Disneyland version. The Prince was beautifully played and is dashing as he is cruel . The perfect gentleman with a dark kinky side I was very happy. I've also read the story of O and enjoyed it but Beauty was very intresting in that it was just very nice. Oh my where can I find a Prince Like that hee hee
Rating: Summary: This is how all fairytales should be written for adults Review: My sister-in-law gave me the series of"Beauty" to read. It was the best thing she ever let me borrow from her. I read all three books in one day. I only pray that Anne Rice will write more books like "Beauty". Now that I'm done with these I've been craving for more like them. But can't find anything close. You'll love them!
Rating: Summary: Sleeping Beauty Sure Gets Claimed All right! Review: I just finished "The Claiming Of Sleeping Beauty" which is the second novel that I have read by Ms. Anne Rice. I must say WOW! How did she come up with this? If you're interested in sex or just how creative she made from this fairy tale then this novel is for you! There are 2 other sequels to this novel, "Beauty's Punishment" & "Beauty's Release" and if you want to know what happens you have to read all 3! I can't wait to read the next 2 myself
Rating: Summary: An Erotic Journey for the brave of heart Review: This was the most sensual, erotic, and yet eloquently written book that I have ever had the pleasure to read. I'm not a big purchaser of erotica, but I made an exception on advice from a friend and because of the author. I did enjoy the first half of the book far more than I did the second. This is not a book for the strictly sexual conservative. That's not to say its not accesible by your everyday person- I believe it is. It's just not for the weak of heart.
Rating: Summary: review from a fan Review: Anne Rice tells a storie like no other. disturbing as it may be, the reader is transported on a journey so profoundly dark that it blinds you with its brightness. Her characters are so full bodied that at times I felt that it were trully them telling the storie instead of the author. Definitly not for young readers or persons who don't understand works of a more graphic nature.
Rating: Summary: Challenging--even for a liberal! Review: I loved how reading this book triggered the exact emotions as eating chocolate--guilt about what I was enjoying--thinking some folks understand this thrill, some do not. A very intriguing read---um, stimulatingly different!
Rating: Summary: Claiming of Sleeping Beauty Review: Anne Rice, writing as A. N. Roquelaure, does a suberb job with the detail on this parody of the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty. She takes her readers on a graphic and exciting adventure through the world of S&M. This book is definetly a must read for an experienced person, or a novice of art. It leaves you begging for more.
Rating: Summary: ummmmm . . . what? Review: I'm a huge fan of Anne Rice and all, and I am really into erotica, so I thought that this would be a great book. Boy, was I really disappointed. Oh, the book had its moments, but there were so many spankings and it just got redundant. The first couple of punishments were kind of exciting and that got me thinking, "cool, now we're going to get to the actual sex!" But it wasn't to be. No, instead it was just spanking after spanking after spanking after . . .
Rating: Summary: Mixed Feelings Review: Curiosity led me to this book. I love Anne Rice's works and I am always looking for new ways to fuel my sexuality, but I was always skittish about bdsm and I thought that if anyone could make me understand it, Anne Rice could. It left me slightly disturbed, confused, aroused, and ammused. I'm not sure wether I should like it or hate it. The book has a deffinete message but it lacks a good plot, and the extremities of the punishments were sometimes so hardcore they were almost laughable. Still it speaks to a very primative part of human sexuality in an enticing manner.
