Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Open minded, genius. Review: The reviewer below took it a little too seriously. Lau Tzu was indeed one of the most intelligent people of his time. His ideas the way life should be lived and be loved will always be interesting and inspiring. But I doubt that it will undermine one's awareness to lead him/her to some sort of a religious source. The reading material is indeed enlighting and inspiring. It's a beautiful and innocent book of ancient wisdom... nothing more. But then again, what more can we ask? :)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: this is a great book Review: the tao te ching is awsome. it comes from one of the most profound ways of thinking and is by far one of the most inspirational books ever. this tanslation is great. its probably the best i have seen.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Acceptable translation, enough margin. Review: The Tao-Te-Ching is ever emphasizing the use of margins, spaces -- both physical and spiritual, that people ususally think to be useless. Lao-tzu says margin and space is equally useful, or that it is the margin and space that makes things useful. This book provides visually the enough margin when reading each of the verse, which will enable you to feel more relaxed than when you are reading the Tao-Te-Ching on other `text-only' and `small-margin' versions. You are experiencing the Tao when you are reading this book! Also the translation is quite acceptible, and the Chinese cacography(!) is readible. Book dimension: US letter size(8.5" x 11") x 3/8" 176 pages.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Amazing Review: This book has an excellent balance of artwork translation. It is an excellent resource for chinese style artwork examples
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Well done Review: This is a really beautiful edition of this wonderful text. While the translation is not ideal, it is certainly a reliable rendering of the text and an edition that I would recommend as a gift.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: My favorite Review: This is by far my favorite translation, and I really enjoy the depth and texture that Needleman adds with his passionate reading. I never get tired of this tape.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The Sage's Guidebook Review: This is the most excellent translation of the Tao te Ching i heave ever come across. There is nothing lost in translation
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Unless you read Chinese... Review: This is the translation for you. I've read several and been a student of the Tao for many years. It takes a rare person to translate the Tao Te Ching, who has a mastery of English, Chinese, and Tao. Evidently Gia-Fu Feng is such a person.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Made for a Western audience Review: This rendition of the Tao Te Ching is beautiful and accessible, although some points in the translation are questionable. It seems this version was made for the Western audience rather than sticking closely to the original. For those who love the Chinese text, this may be problematic. The strength of the original lies in its ambiguity--in the presence of light and darkness, a play of light and darkness, an indistinctness of light and darkness. This version seems to choose the light over the dark. I also highly recommend "Open Your Mind, Open Your Life" by Taro Gold, which is an excellent collection of Eastern wisdom.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Work of Art Review: This shockingly beautiful book is a wonderful tribute to this classic of Taoism. It gives me shivers everytime I open it. The powerful imagery contained is a well-matched compliment to the words of Lao Tsu. Well done!
