Summary: Will the real Sandra Brown please come back
Review: Frankly, I was bored. When I want a good scary tale I read Koontz, when I want a good spy story I read LeCarre, when I want a good romance I read Sandra Brown. Or, I did until now. Now I'm wondering what would happen if LeCarre started writing romance, or Koontz wrote a western. True, the genre that made Sandra Brown famous is not read for mental stimulation. And true, the genre is over-worked and under-rated, which may send some of its best authors blushing all the way to the bank. And, true, authors as successful as Ms. Brown will sometimes have the notion of branching into more "legitimate" forms of literature, and why not? But there is a new genre being created by disenchanted romance writers that I cannot seem to find a name for, simply because there doesn't seem to be a definable focus to the pieces. I may call them "standoffs" from now on. Why would a woman who is the very best at weaving a direct and honest tale about the intimacies between men and women - both physical and otherwise - think anything is missing from her work? That she needs to whip it into a shoot-em-up/psychosocialdrama/sobstory? And then throw in some gratuitous sex near the end that is so mechanical I had to take another look at the cover of the book to make sure I was reading THE Sandra Brown. I for one am going to wait it out and hope that if she is going to continue in this vein, she will find her footing soon. In the meantime, perhaps she should adopt a pseudonym, as she did with Erin St. Claire. May I suggest one? Nora Roberts.

Summary: A great summer read
Review: I made the mistake of reading other reader's reviews prior to reading the book. I really liked this book! Sure it is no "War and Peace" but it is a great book for the beach or the plane. I found it funny and interesting. Easy to read in one or two sittings. For nine bucks how can you go wrong ?

Summary: Standoff
Review: Sorry to say I found this book to be lackluster. I was unable to even finish the book. I was very disappointed as I have been a avid reader of Sandra Brown's books and have always looked forward to the "next" new book. In the future, I will read the reviews before I buy one of her books. It appears that almost everyone has the same view of this attempt.

Summary: Not Brown's Best
Review: I too had been waiting for Ms. Brown's latest book. This one left me flat. I read the short story in just a few hours & felt the "teenage" trama could have been more fully developed.

And to be honest, I missed the mix of passionate romantic scenes & suspense of her other books such as "Fat Tuesday" or "Exclusive". They always made my heart flutter and as Ms. Brown might say, "...my lower regions moisten."

Summary: Short story vs. Novel
Review: Sandra Brown has a talent with character development and can master any plot bringing the reader into the fold within the first pages. However, this novel was a disappointment. I felt like I finished a short story where the characters could have been anonymous because of the lack in development. The book ended when in reality it was just getting started. Its a good, fast read but not the quality I've come to expect from this author.

Summary: If you dont like quickies dont read it.
Review: But if you do like shorter books, this is about as good as one can get in a couple hundred pages. I thought the story was intresting and the pace was very good. I'm very glad Sandra Brown didnt try to extend the book. It ended when it was over, and she didnt worry that the story was too short. Just read it.

Summary: A Dissapointing End
Review: I found this book by Sandra Brown to be very interesting until the end. What a dissapointment. The major story line of the whole book comes to a conclusion in a few short lines. After these few unfulfilling words, you jump from what seems to be a suspense story into a fluffy romance novel. Maybe the next one will be better!

Summary: should have waited for paperback
Review: I was so anxious for a new Sandra Brown book. I was very disappointed, and feel I should not have wasted my money on the hardcover. Such a short book that never really got into any of the characters in any depth. What a waste of time to read this not very well written book.

Summary: Not bad, not good
Review: I am new to reading Sandra Brown's work, but did not find it to be quite the disappointment other readers did. I felt the characters to be fairly well fleshed out. The heroine of the story was likeable, but not too much so. The plot was well thought out and the action was never lagging. My main problem was with the ending, it seemed rather contrived. The loose ends were were tied up a little too quickly and left me with a flat feeling at the end. The book warrents me taking a second look at previous books by the author. I think it is an enjoyable read, but it just needed an ending that was more thought out.

Summary: Amazingly Awful
Review: I can't believe one of my favorite authors wrote this horrendous book. Not only was it awful story line wise, I felt cheated since it was such a "little" book and definitely not worth the money. Is this what happens to famous authors? I'll look to my other favorites since this is the second time she's disappointed me.
