Rating: Summary: Salvatore adds depth to edited performaces Review: Don't get me wrong; I really enjoyed the movie. I just thought a lot ended up on the cutting room floor considering George finaced the movie himself. From what I have read in the novel version of AOTC, much of it would have added depth to both the story and the characters. Salvatore's novelization of the film beings before the movie, showing us more of the Star Wars universe and giving us far more insight to the characters. Also, his novel was based on the unedited version of the film (the shooting script) and gives the fans much more of Episode II. It also allows fans to decide whether the edited film was better served by removing the scenes. In particular the scene in the garage on Tatooine between Amidala and Anakin post slaughter for the Tuskens left me questioning George's script writing abilities. In the book the scene makes much more sense as it shows Anakin experiencing remorse for his loss of control. On the other hand there are scenes deletions that I thought did serve the story's pace (but I still would have rather seen them stay). While the book is not a replacement for the movie, it is an enjoyable treat for die-hard fans. Star Wars by nature is a big screen experience and loses its grandeur when translated to other formats. I can't imagine Salvatore doing much better at converting the movie than he did. I would have found the action sequences between Jango and Obi-wan difficult to imagine without having seen the movie, I can't image anyone writing it any better than he has done. The book does a much better job at potraying Jango and Boba. It also helps traverse the murky romance between Anakin and Amidala. If you love the movie you should treat yourself to this book!
Rating: Summary: Salvatore Needs to Find a Writing 101 Course Review: First of all, what I'm about to say isn't totally random. I've been reading quality literature for quite a few years, and I've just finished a Creative Writing course, so I'm fairly well-versed in style, grammar, structure and the mechanics of writing a good book. I'd give this one an F. The only reason I gave it 1 star was because it's Star Wars, and I'm a fan (ok, add an -atic if you must). To get down to business, Salvatore's writing style is truly deplorable. The right word for it is obnoxious. It's pretentiously verbose (in addition, he frequently chooses words that are just plain odd) and, in some sections, very poorly proofread. My brother reads Salvatore, and from what I'd seen I knew not to expect very much. However, even given these lowered expectations, I was very disappointed. He managed to take an engrossing movie and make reading a chore. A skilled writer could have saved some of the dialogue, but Salvatore somehow managed to make it worse. The writing is repetitive, flat, and unemotional. Very little character description is given--Salvatore expects the reader to have seen the movie, yet he hammers in other points, like Padme Amidala's former occupation. I was reading this book to relive the film, and if the film were like this, I'd have walked out within 10 minutes. If you must buy this book, I recommend it solely to refresh your memory of the movie. Take the facts from the scenes that are not in the film and re-imagine them. You'll be doing yourself a huge favor. Note to A Reader from NJ: Review the book, please. The above paragraphs are not part of the book. And I strongly suspect Faulkner and Woolfe would agree with me regarding Salvatore's style.
Rating: Summary: There is more to this story than there was in the movie. Review: Star Wars Attack of the Clones novelization is an excellent read. Thirty six pages into the book and the movie's screenplay hasn't even begun! There are a lot of extras in the book that diehard fans won't want to miss which were not covered in detail in the movie. Learn more about life on Tatooine with the Lars family and the circumstances surrounding Shmi Skywalker's kidnapping and subsequent rescue attempt. Meet Senator Amidala's sister, Sola and their parents Ruwee and Jobal on the lush world of Naboo. Gain more insight into Padme's character. Discover why she chose a career in politics and the emotional torment she must endure as she wrestles with her feelings for Anakin Skywalker. Enjoy the love plot between Anakin and Padme and allow yourself to reflect on how something seemingly so right can have such grevious consequences for their inner circles. Glimpse Anakin's inner anguish, not just for Padme, but for his mom, Shmi and take a glimpse into his friendship with the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Who's voice was that yelling out for Anakin to stop his hateful actions during his moment of rage and anger? And the reprecussions that disturbance has on Master Yoda's understanding of the Force. Although the action sequences in the movie are far superior to the books narative, the extra commentary provides more information and excitement which Star Wars fans relish. Attack of the Clones is an enjoyable read describing the making of legends - good and bad. I recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Episode II Review: I read the book before I saw the movie. The book is very good, it explains more than the movie does at some parts. But also, even if you do buy the book, please watch the movie too! It is very in depth, and a great addition to your collection.
Rating: Summary: 3 1/2 Stars Really Review: ... Now, on to R.A. Salvatore's adaption of the movie. I have respected Mr. Salvatore's work before this, especially the Dark Elf trilogy, and I was expecting a good novelization of the movie. Well, AOTC is definetly subpar. Overall, the book seems as if it was rushed and wasn't edited properly. Descriptions are used over and over such as "his broad shoalders" and "the diminutive Jedi Master" and I felt that a lot of these could be changed to give the book more variety. Also, there are many grammatical mistakes. The beginning of the novel is okay but the ending climax is rushed. A part that should have taken up a good amount of the novel takes place within a span of 30 pages or so, and does not do any sort of justice to the movie's end sequence which is great. Although the novel has its flaws, there are some benefits for reading the novel. A lot of scenes are added into the book which were not found in the movie. These scenes make the book worth reading for a Star Wars fan, but for someone who isn't a Star Wars fanatic I wouldn't suggest reading the book. I feel that this book could have been much better, especially since such a talented author was behind it. Still, I was not mad that I read it and reccommend it to any Star Wars fan interested in learning more about the Star Wars Universe.
Rating: Summary: This Is way better than the first one, Episode 1 Review: This book was really good because it was complex. They had three difrent stories at once and they all met up! It was really great and a lot better than Episode 1.

Rating: Summary: An Excellent Ride! Review: The closest thing some fans will experience to directing their own STAR WARS feature is reading this book! Featuring scenes that appear in George Lucas' original script but are not featured in the movie, Salvatore does a wonderful job of delivering in this fanciful adventure! An excellent and exciting quick read...especially if you haven't seen the movie just yet!
