Rating: Summary: Diappointing noevl Review: I've been hearing so much about this series that I finally decided to go out and read this book. Unfortunately, I thought it left much to be desired. The writing is incredibly simplistic, and the plot is way to predictable. I have no way of comparing this to any of his other novels, so maybe I'm just not a fan of the series.
Rating: Summary: Alex is back... Review: I love the Alex Cross series. In this adventure Alex must find a serial killer who is involved in a computer role playing game. Alex is also facing increased pressures at work with a boss that doesn't want him around anymore. However, Alex has found the love of his life...Christine. As usual, JPatterson does a great job of weaving each of these story lines and providing enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. The last 100 pages is so intense, you can't put it down!!!
Rating: Summary: You gotta read it!! Review: This was my first James Patterson book. It kept me on the edge of my seat, I couldn't put it down! I ran right down to the book store and purchased 2 more books by this author.
Rating: Summary: Good, but forgettable Review: I read this book quickly. Once I started I couldn't stop, the short chapters is the primary thing that made it a fast read. I enjoyed the book but my problem is that it is highly forgettable. I have read all of the Alex Cross books but can hardly remember anything about any of the novels that I read almost a year ago. I remember almost all of the Patricia Cornwell novels and Susan Grafton novels but Alex Cross is just forgettable. The book is good it just doesn't stick with you.
Rating: Summary: Sixth Sense ending Makes for excellent book! Review: Much like the sixth sense this book is entertaining but nothing special. That is until the ending which brings the whole thing together in a fast paced climax.
Rating: Summary: Fast Paced, But Not Always Plausible Review: This is the fifth book by James Patterson with Washington DC police detective Alex Cross as the main character. A very, very quick read, many of its plot gimmicks are just that, gimmicks and not always believeable. In this installment Alex Cross is called upon to solve a string of murders that initially do not look like serial killings. Then, they do and he is off and running trying to prevent more of the same. The premise Patterson uses here is that the murders are being committed by a mid-level diplomat assigned to the British embassy in Washington. The murders, part of a sophisticated computer game played by four members or former members of British intelligence is played on a global scale. It makes for an interesting plotline and almost works. However, as another reviewer here stated, too many coincidences fall into place and Alex Cross is able to easily put the pieces together to solve these heinous crimes. This is probably not the best of the Alex Cross novels for that reason. Yes, Patterson has all of the pacing that existed in his past entries in the series, but the ending was just too pat and less than believable. This is definitely a beach book or one for a quick airplane flight. Not a truly memorable installment, but I'd bet they'll still make a movie out of it anyway. I wouldn't NOT read this entry in the series, but I also wouldn't expect the same quality of taut writing and interesting story found in KISS THE GIRLS. Mr. Patterson may have run out of steam with this one.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: Poor plot worse than a Hollywood B movie
Rating: Summary: DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY Review: In POP GOES THE WEASEL, A normal-looking foreign diplomat, who just happens to be a homicidal maniac, comes to Washington DC, and wreaks havoc. He begins a random murder spree that puts the city's police department in a panic. His murders are connected to a computer game in which he is one of four horsemen who dream up unbelievable and almost impossible feats, then do them. Much to the killer's chagrin, Detective Alex Cross studies the case and gets on his trail. In an effort to thwart Cross, the killer takes one drastic measure that leads Cross on a long, tenuous and heartwrenching journey. POP GOES THE WEASEL has a well-thought out ending. This is a good book and I look forward to more by James Patterson.
Rating: Summary: Not Great. Review: This is not one of Patterson's best. Disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Another Patterson Gem Review: Just read my hardcover copy the other day. Excellent story and a real page turner. If you are a fan of Patterson this is a must read. If you've never read patterson this is a must read (I'd read along came a spider first). Can't wait for his next one.
