Rating: Summary: Pop goes the Weasel Review: I found that this book was very well written. Like the other books written with Alex Cross they were very exicting. The book was a page turner. LOVE IT . I also LOVED the ending.
Rating: Summary: Hooked! Review: I have always enjoyed the cunning and intelligent "bad guy" characters that James Patterson creates. I did object to the detailed description of crime scenes even though I know they are necessary to show just how deranged the killer is. Even with these objections I am hooked on Dr. Alex Cross, his family and friends and I'll be waiting for the next book because I know our bad guy will be back for another book or two.
Rating: Summary: Pop Goes the weasel Review: This was one of his best books yet! i have read alot of his books and they were all good. But this one is great. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves thrill! you will not be able to put it down!
Rating: Summary: Don't bother Review: There are some books that you don't expect much from. Books that you know will not be well written or that will not change your life. Yet we read them with no expectations other than a fast food kind of read. I take offense to this ignorant portrayal of a person suffering with Bipolar as a deranged serial killer. People who have this disease have enough trouble gaining acceptance from society without Mr. Patterson making one a demented murderer.
Rating: Summary: Predictable with no thrills! Review: Having read all of James Patterson's Alex Cross novels, this one falls short of what I have come to expect of the Ace Detective. The book somehow as not connected. The murders, the game, the characters playing the game, the trial, the wife, the family, the doctor. . .TOO MUCH. By the time I made it to the end, and it was hard getting there, I was a little pleased. Despite this book I'll read the next. PS, three of us in the family have read the book. We each had the same reaction.
Rating: Summary: SIGH... SHAFER IS NO SONEJI Review: Okay, actually 2 1/2 stars...I usually wait for paperbacks, but a co-worker bought this for me. I was psyched to start it, but in the end left feeling unsatisfied. The villian, despite Patterson's best efforts, was nowhere near as fascinating or complex as Gary Soneji. His "game" grew tiresome, especially after he made his own rules (the idea of life/death being truly dictated by a roll of the dice was interesting). And as for the Christine saga in this tale... as many below have already said, it was not given the solemnity or the regard it would have truly merited in the real world. Finally, the climax with the bad guy was a yawner, yet another thriller ending where the good guy and a bunch of baddies congregate on some Club Med-type villa and duke it out. Soneji, we want you back!
Rating: Summary: X-rated for violence Review: This is the third James Patterson book I've read or listened to. I listened to part of this. The violence was too graphic. I really didn't need to know the details of the gruesome murders. Then when the sociopath killed the two teenage girls and arranged their bodies ... well, I hit "stop" and "rewind" on my tape recorder. I don't need to have that sort of thing clatter around in my brain. I like Alex Cross because he's so loving and gentle. I know there is going to be violence in a murder mystery, but this seemed perverted to me.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT READ FROM COVER TO COVER Review: This was one of Patterson's best novels to date. It picks up the excitement exactly where "Jack and Jill" left off. Strong recommendation to anyone!
Rating: Summary: No mystery. Predictable Review: As an avid James Patterson reader, I decided to give him another shot after reading When the Wind Blows. Now, after I painfully completed "Pop",I will have to reconsider any further novels by him. I found this novel predictable and without mystery at all. The characters were boring and the writing "sappy".There was no intrigue to the murders and even Samson was weak. The children's dialogue were overgrown and Nana got on my nerves. The only positive thing is, is that I borrowed this book from the library instead of purchasing it.
Rating: Summary: Pop Goes the Weasle(unabridged audio) Review: I was somewhat disappointed after awaiting another Alex Cross book for a long while. I found the ending (ie. pertaining to Christine) lacking in detail and it left me longing for more information about her "lost year". It was almost as if James Patterson ran out of time and could not fully complete the story. On a positive note, Michael Kramer, the reader for the unabridged version is fantastic! I think he could make any story sound good...
