Rating: Summary: Confusing and lacking excitement. Review: The book I was reading was about the Tuck family, Winnie, everlasting life on earth, what it would do if everyone knew about it and how it would affect all the people on earth . It was a little confusing for me, but I still read it, and I would not recommend it for anyone who is looking for a good book. This book starts off in Winnie's grandparents' house, and they are neat freaks. Winnie is starting to be a neat freak, but she is mad at her grandparents. So when she bumped into someone in the bush near a spring, she asked if she could have some water but the person said no. They had an argument, but she lost the argument because she was kidnapped. They took her to tell her what would happen if she had a drink of the water that was in the spring and why she has to keep it a secret from everyone-even her grandparents.
Rating: Summary: It's about a girl named Winnie, who is kidnapped. Review: I really enjoyed it, and I think that you will, too
Rating: Summary: A book chaulked full of mystery, magic, and suspence! Review: Winnie, fed up with constantly being told what to do, decides to run away, into her wood. There, she finds Jesse, a 17-year-old boy who becomes her friend, and from then on, her life changes. Jesse is a Tuck, and the Tucks have a family secret that Winnie never would have imgagined. But you'll have to read this wonderful book for yourself. You'll love it :)
Rating: Summary: Class of 6th graders loved Tuck! Review: I teach 3 sections of 6th grade language arts at a middle school in central Michigan. The vocabulary and sentence structure of this novel was a stretch for some of the students, but the theme prompted insightful, personal discussion of everlasting life. The symbolism was enjoyed by many who, having read the book at a younger age, had missed much of it. Students enjoyed the unfolding of the characters and the conflict. Good read and great discussion!
Rating: Summary: A great choice for young readers Review: One of my favorite books from elementary school. A good story, with good characters. Highly recommended
Rating: Summary: A magical book, wonderful for dreamers! Review: I read this book for a program called Chat 'n Chew, at my school. When I first started to read, I thought that it wouldn't be a good book because some of the words were put differently and I couldn't understand them. But I went on through the book and it got very good. This book has a combination of fantasy, love, cruelty, murder and intrigue. I especially liked when the man in the yellow suit got what he deserved. My favorite characters were Jesse, Winnie and Mae - and also the frog. I recommend this book to readers from 4th grade on up. It is wonderful for people who like to use their imaginations and like magical things. Check out Tuck Everlasting at a library near you, now!
Rating: Summary: Boring and preachy with numb characters Review: This is one case where I can judge a book by its cover. The story is as dull and lifeless as the cover illustration. The plot line is very simple and the characters were generally very unrealistic and numb to the world. Winnie seems like a very dull child, and the ominous man with the yellow suit is an extremely one-dimensional bad guy. (I wonder if he knew Curious George's friend, the man with the yellow hat.) Overall, the book deals with the issue of death in a very preachy and obnoxious manner. Certainly not a book I would use with my students.
Rating: Summary: Truely memorable! Review: When I was in 6th grade my teacher at the time read this story to us and I've never forgotten it! It's wonderfully written and full of insight suitable for any age. I hightly reccomend this to children and adults alike.
Rating: Summary: The most awesome book i've ever read!!!! Review: This book is justso imaginaiton usefull. You have to believe it. Its basically about trying to live 4 ever. It has feelings, romance, and just an incredible amount of detail and keeps you guessing and ending the book yourself until you reach the end of the book. I cried and laughed and this book makes you think about life and what would happen if you had a pool of water that if you drank it it would make your life go on and on forever? It 's justthe kind of book you like to read ya know?
Rating: Summary: One of the best stories I've ever read! Review: This book really changed my life! At first, I never wanted to die. When I read this book, it made me understand that life is never completed without death. So, if you want a great book, get your hands on Tuck Everlasting! It's amazing!
