Rating: Summary: Tuck Everlasting Review: Tuck Everlasting is a timeless classic, and is about an eleven-year-old girl named Winifred Foster...Winnie for short. In a rebellious attack to run away from home, Winnie meets Jesse Tuck in her parents' woods. Jesse is a seventeen year-old boy who claims to be over 100 year-old. When she sees Jesse drinking water from a spring that was covered by pebbles, she asks if she can drink some too. This is where the adventure begins. Jesse, his brother Miles, and his mom Mae, then explain to Winnie a secret that they have kept to each other for eighty-seven years: if you drink the spring water, you become immortal. However, what the Tucks and Winnie did not realize was that a man overheard every bit of their conversation. In a sudden turn of events, Mae is in jail and will certainly be hanged. Only the Tucks and Winnie know the disaster that will certainly arise if she is hung in front of a crowd of people. How will the people react when they realise that Mae did not die? Winnie and the Tucks then proceed to save Mae from prison. The stories ending takes place many years after this all happened, and Winnie's choice was very surprising and quite sad. The only advice I can give you while reading this book is to read carefully all the parts concerning the music box and the toad. Or else, the only other thing I can tell you is to enjoy the book!
Rating: Summary: Lovely and Timeless Review: Tuck Everlasting is a beautifully written fantasy that will appeal to both children and adults. The prose is spare yet descriptive, moving quickly through a young girls life as she stumbles upon a secret known only to a few, but one that will change her outlook on life, and living, forever. This gentle yet ultimately poignant story begins before the turn of the century as 10 year old Winnie Foster dreams of running away from her well-ordered life, as most children do. She would never act upon this impulse, of course, but a brief excursion into the enchanting woods owned by her family, which sit invitingly just outside her fence, will alter the coarse of her life in ways she could not have imagined. Winnie will discover the Tuck family in these woods. They have lived there ages, guarding the water which stops time, and gives all those who drink of it immortality. As Winnie is sort of kidnapped, in a friendly way, she gets to know each of the Tucks, and forms a bond so close she will be tempted to join them one day. Natalie Babbitt does a wonderful job making this fantasy real to the reader. Winnie's reactions to this family and especially young Jesse, who will be 17 forever and wants her to join him when she can, has the ring of truth. But there is a price to pay for this stoppage of time, and Jesse's father eloquently conveys to Winnie the joy of actually living and changing, like the water as it flows, and the unexpected anguish of living as the Tucks do. Her second family will be in harm's way when a mysterious stranger who wants to prosper from this secret tracks down Winnie and the Tucks, and the adventure that follows will bring forth decisions for Winnie Foster about how she wants to live. There is humor and sweetness to this tale. It is an injustice to call this a children's classic. It is a classic, period, and should be taken to the heart of every reader. There is a message here for us all.....
Rating: Summary: A TRULY BEAUTIFUL BOOK!! Review: Wow! This book was wonderful!! It keeps you hooked! Natalie Babbitt did an amazing job. Beautiful writer here!!! Anyways, Winnie Foster is bored and unhappy with her life. She is an only child, and is ALWAYS the center of attention: meaning, everyone worries about her, and they worry too much. So, in other words, Winnie never gets a moment alone. Yep, pretty sad. One day, she decides she wants to run away. Since she doesn't have anywhere to go, she just runs into the woods that her family owns. Then, she comes across a "beautiful" boy....Jesse Tuck. Next thing she knows, Winnie is captured by Jesse's family, and taken to their home. When that happens, the Tucks tell her an IMPORTANT secret about their family(which you probably already know, but if you don't, I'm still not telling it!). The secret is one that causes them to keep Winnie with them until she learns why she can't tell. So anyways, someone else was eavesdropping on them when the secret is told. So, he goes to Winnie's family, and tells them what happened to her, and says he'll go and get her for them. When he does go, Mae Tuck, (the mother) kills him(but for a good reason) and is sentenced to be hanged. But, the secret interfered. If Mae is taken to the Gallows, then it gets out. Read this wonderful book to learn more about it. For those of you who have seen the movie, it's really different. The book is 10 times better!!!

Rating: Summary: Disliked it Review: I didn't like this book because it seemed like she was using to much dumb expressions that she made up. Since this is the 'Kids review' i can't use the words i would like to. But the book seemed to be like bart simpson, because it would drag out what could take a paragraph and turned in to a page, she might as well put in some ads. she got way to discriptive like it was an assignment or something, for example if she were describing a plain white peice of paper she would say the size the width the thickness the colour the way the sun hit it the backround in the room the temperature and more. The book just doesnt seem to be professional, it could of been written by a two year old. I would of gave this book a zero but its not an option.PI dont mean to hurt anybodys feelings but to save a few hours of your life and telling you not to read this, unless you like ponys and the 1800's dont read this! I know you might say that i wasted your time by writing a long review but this is the feeling you might get except worse if you read this book! ...
Rating: Summary: Tuck Everlasting 2000 edition with interview Review: Tuck Everlasting was a mediocre book. One thing I wondered about is how, if the tree was supposed to be affected by the spring, they were able to carve into the bark. I wondered how lightning destroyed it, but Ms. Babbitt tried to explain that in the interview. Actually, the interview was pretty disturbing, and marred my opinion of the book. I have laid out a pretty extensive critique of particular parts of the interview [on my website] The book, all in all, was mostly harmless, but shouldn't we strive for more than mostly harmless?
Rating: Summary: not a fan Review: Some people liked this book, they even made a movie out of it, but I was just not a fan. I thought it was not even close to being realistic, not even for a fantasy book. It's the story about a family that drinks from a spring and becomes immortal. It did not explain so many things. For instance, why does the spring make you immortal? Why, since the tree had absorbed the spring through it's roots, did it burn down and why was Tuck able to carve into the tree and it stay a fresh cut for over twenty years? Shouldn't the tree have healed itself like Tuck did when he shot himself? How did the forest catching fire and burning down, destroy a natural spring? A good fantasy book, like Harry Potter, explains why the magic works. Even if the reasons wouldn't work in real life, they give you an explanation. Winnie is the main character in the book. I didn't really like her though. She didn't seem to ever be able to make up her mind. She grew up in a cottage in Treegap. Her parents are very strict and she can't even play outside the fence in her front yard. She wants to see the world and get away and she meets the Tucks when she finally runs away into the woods. When she finally gets her adventure with the Tucks, she wants to go home. When she goes home the next day, she wants to go back to the Tucks again. The only good part is that she helps the Tucks out of a very sticky situation at her own risk. Even that though is unrealistic, that after being kidnapped she escapes at midnight without her parents knowing. After finding out she helped a murderer escape from jail she didn't get much of a punishment, just stay in the yard. She always had to stay in the yard so really what was the punishment? I found the book disappointing. It left me with too many questions and not enough details. The characters were not developed enough to make you really like them but, you don't have to take my word for it you can read the book yourself, it's pretty short and easy to read.
Rating: Summary: Not my type of book. Review: The words were vivid, but that was about the only thing good about this book. The plot was way too boring and overdone. The whole first chapter was describing a road. If the author really wanted us to know what it looked like she should have illustrated it. This book maybe suited for a 10 year old girl, but as for me, I could barely stay awake.
Rating: Summary: Tuck Everlasting Review: 5-27-03 My book review is about my favorite book Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit. It's about a girl named Winnie that meets a mysterious family that can live forever. Winnies family is paired up with a man in a yellow suit. Winnie meets a boy named Jesse that drinks from a creek in Winnies woods. Jesse and his family takes Winnie home with them. She is usually saying" I want to go home". Mae Jesse's mother promises that they will bring her home tomorrow. Jesse lives in a house in Tree Gaps. The man thinks of moving next door to Winnie's house. Before Winnie gets kidnapped the man whistles a familiar song. Winnie really likes Miles Jesse's brother. Winnie tries to sleep but she can't. The whole family goes down one at a time. When Winnie asks Jesse how old he is he says"104" but then he admits he's seventeen. At dinner time the brothers argue about who gets to go rowing in the boat with Winnie but then the dad said" hush, I will bring her". That touches me when they good care of her. Winnie is the reason why I like the book. Jesse has yellow hair. They figured out they could live forever when Jesse got bitten by a snake, and Mae got cut when she was cutting bread and no one got a mark. Now it's your turn to read the book.
Rating: Summary: Tuck Everlasting Review: Tuck Everlasting Tuck Everlasting is a book filled with surprises and mystical features. The author Natalie Babbit came to write this book because she spent most of her child hood reading books on fairy tales and myths. In this book a girl named Winnie Foster decides to take a walk in the woods, and stumbles across this young boy. Winnie is startled at first but is attracted by the young boy. They get into a conversation and Winnie finds out that the boy, Jesse Tuck is a Hundred four years old. He explains why he hasn't looked any older. Jesse tells Winnie that he came across a magical spring, drank from it and hasn't gotten older since. But there is something about this spring ''That all that glitters is not really gold'' about it. The main characters in this book are Jesse Tuck, his family and Winnie foster. The book falls under the category fantasy because of all the magic. I think People who like fantasy would really enjoy this book.
