Summary: Good But Rambles On
Review: I thought it was a good book but i think he could of fit all the stuff he needed into about 200 pages instead of 300 pages.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: Yes, it's amazing that someone can make stealing something as small as a key so thrilling that the book slips and falls from a thoroughly shaken reader! Crichton's main character, the gentleman Mr. Edward Pierce, is as sharp as a razor and quick as a snake, comparable, in my opinion, only to John Grisham's mastermind in THE PARTNER! THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY is an awesome book if ever I've read one, with action, adventure, laughs, and an actual plot to boot! The beliefs of old Victorian England were carried out without mock amusement, but still somehow left me in curious and interested laugh and afterthought. What a tremendously satisfying read, for one so short! I wish there was a part two for it! .A.

Summary: Crichton and history: A delightful mixture!
Review: The Great Train Robbery is one of those novels you can finish in a single setting. It is crammed with the most interesting facts of British history and still provides an amazing story.

Like the best of Crichton's books, such as Rising Sun, Disclosure, and Jurassic Park, this one was written under inexhaustable research. There is certainly something to be said for novels involving the anatomy of a crime. Frederick Forsyth was definitly one to something when he wrote Day of the Jackal, and Crichton was definitly on to something when he wrote this novel, it is undoubtedly one of his best.

Summary: The Best Crichton Book written
Review: I have read several Crichton books. He is one of my favorites 20th century authors. This book is one of his best. The characters and plot are super. Words cannot describe this book except READ IT. You will like it.

Summary: Victorian England made simple
Review: THis book shows how easy a robbery of this nature can be pulled off and how long it takes to plan for something like that. The story was very well written and the extra detail given only enhanced the mood and suspense of the book. The details of Victorian England were seemingly spot on (having never lived in Victorian London), especially down to the fact that they were always on the look out for new and needless inventions and their morbid fear of being buried alive. This book can be read by anyone wishing to escape their lives and live a life in Victorian London watching a master criminal at work. This book also shows that the ideas of the time, that was only the poor that commited crimes was wrong, Edward Pierce was seemingly a gentleman and he went out of his was to see that no one knew who he really was.

Summary: Very interseting averagely suspenceful
Review: It was a good book and was interesting to see how everything unfolded and how Edward Pierce was able to pull off such of a robbery. Although It didn't include as much suspense and interseting qualities that just grab you to the book as other books I have read before that do that exact same thing. I recommend this book to others.

Summary: This is an Amazing Must Read Book
Review: I had to read this book for summer reading. Because of the fact that this book was for school, I really didn't want to get into it, but once I did I couldn't put it down. The way that Edward Pierce goes about doing this crime is amazing. He and his parteners are so cunning that you think this really could have happened. I definately recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a really good book.

Summary: A very nice example of historical fiction
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I recall waiting anxiously for the next Crichton novel to appear back in the mid-1970s and was disappointed when I saw this title. But, I read it anyway and I was glad I did. I didn't put it down until I was finished. The novel is based on the very first train robbery by Edward Pierce in Victorian London in which gold heading for the Crimea was stolen. The story was made into a film starring Sean Connery and Michael Caine.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Really really good
Review: this has to be a must read. A terrific historical fiction novel. The characters are amazingly and realistically portrayed especially Ed Pierce. A character you will definitely admire by the end of the book. The parallels drawn between the 19th century and the present make interesting reading, so also Crichton's eye for the details. Probably his best work.
