Summary: The Reptile Room
Review: The Reptile Room was a great Lemony Snicket book, sad at the end, but good. I recommend it. But don't start with it, start book one and read up. The books will be better that way. I really enjoy reading these books. It's fun to see how the story unfolds.

Review: I loved this book I listened to it on tape and I loved it I loved the suspense Even though the story had no happy parts, I am glad I read it because it is a good break from normal books where you know what is going to happen before you even read it.

Review: Goodness... Another one of those Unfortunate Books... which is, unfortunately, excellent. I really enjoyed Snicket's second book in the series.The orphaned Baudelaire children just endured living with Count Olaf, and they wish they'll never have to see him again. Enter Uncle Monty... he has to take care of the children in his weird yet fascinating reptilian house. Stephano, the uncle's "new assistant", comes to the house only to make the children's lives miserable as it already was. With some humor and many unfortunate events, Lemony Snicket creates a fun story to read and will make you want to read the other books in the series!

Review: The Baudelaire orphans are whisked away to stay with their distant relative, Montgomery Montgomery, an eccentric herpetologist who enjoys making coconut cream pies and treating his wards to the movies after a long day in the reptile room. Just when it seems like their luck has finally changed for the better, the evil Count Olaf reappears and things take a decidedly nasty turn for the worse. Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) wields a sharp wit and his timing is flawless in this dark comic novel. A wickedly fun read!

Summary: why are some books written?
Review: I read the first book in this series and was not impressed at all. But I was told that it was "the weakest in the series" so I gave these books anouther shot and I have this to say... If the first book was "a bad begining" then this is "an even worse sequel". This is truely one of the most horribly written children's series out there today. First of all, the author hasn't quite decided if this is going to be a story about 3 unfortunate orphanes or a dictionary. It seems as if every other word has quite a lengthy definition tacted onto it. Stories and dictionaries are meant to be seperate. Also the words with the definitions are words that most children in the suggested age range of 9-12 should already know. The definitions also interupt the flow of the book, I found myself having to skip over them, very annoying. The second thing, which I found most annoying, was the authors continual uterances of how this book "doesn't have a happy ending" and so if you want to read something with a happy ending then "don't read this book". The first time wasn't so bad, kinda cute in it's own way. The second time it was not so cute and by the 10th time the author writes this I simply want to throw the book out the nearest window. It's unbelievably annoying! I got it the first time buddy, along with every body else! Also, it's not a good sign when even the author says not to read the book. Another thing that I found.... bad about this book, and frankly this whole series, is the referance to "hillarity". There wasn't a single moment while reading the book that I had even the slightest impulse to even crack smile. It is extremely unfunny. It's quite boring in fact, it was dificult to finish because there was no drive to read it since the author pretty much wrote down the ending in the first chapter. The ending was also very predictable since it was EXACTLY like the ending in the first book, how about a little variety eh? And I don't mean just a change in location either. There was absolutely no character development either. All we know about the characters at the end of the 2nd book is the exact same as the information given at the begining of the first book: Klaus likes to read, Violet likes to invent, and sunny likes to bit things. Presonally I don't even care what happens to these kids. They're supposed to be smart, clever, lovable, and all that but they seem dull, boring, and completely uninteresting to me. I couldn't care less about them. Their saddness over the loss of their parents was very unconvincing too. There were also several pages wasted in this book when the author goes on and on about some warning about "don't do this at home" or something, I've forgotten the details because it was so annoying. Some tips this author really should keep in mind are: don't give away the ending, keep your pointless comments to yourself, adding "personal" info is fine so long as it doesn't turn into a sob story about how sad and unhappy of a story this is going to be, you are not writting a dictionary, plot variety is a good thing, and oh yeah, character development would be nice. my bottom line, STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERIES. It was an unfortunate event indeed when they were published. But if you still want to try em out, be warned, a lot of hype does not a good book make. And if you are going to give these books to your kids then I suggest an age range of 6-9. But seriously folks, there are much better books out there that can really enlighten your child's mind so don't settle for a hyped of piece of junk that is "the series of unfortunate events".

Summary: Another hit!!
Review: While traveling on Lousy Lane in Mr.Poe's car the three orphaned Baudelaire children, Violet,Klaus, and Sunny are anxouis to meet the new guardian, Montgomery Montgomery, that Mr.Poe has set them up with. "Would Dr. Montgomery be a kind person? they wondered. Would he at least be better than Count Olaf? Could he possibly be worse?" However for once things turn out great for them. It seem Uncle Monty is as brilliant as ever. The orphans get their own seperate rooms for their liking.(Much different that Count Olaf) Uncle Monty circles the globe looking for snakes to study, and even plans to take them with him on his scientific expedition to Peru. The children can't believe their luck and are overjoyed. Plus they get to stay in his Reptile Room which is full of specimens Uncle Monty has collect, including the Incredibly Deadly Viper(Who is probably the most friendly snake ever! Totally wrong name!) Things however take the turn for the worse when Count Olaf shows up! The children can't believe their eyes!! This time it seems he has disguised himself as Stephano, Uncle Monty's assistant. No sooner has Count Olaf turned up but soon he murders Uncle Monty! Voilet, Klaus, and Sunny try to explain to Mr. Poe about Stephano but it seems nobody will believe he is Count Olaf. Plus it seems Olaf plans to take them to Peru and who knows what will happen there? Can the Baudelauires solve their problems this time? I absoultely love these books! They make my day brighter as Lemony Snicket is a true genius with his dry humor! I have so far read all eight and things definetly heat up later! So if you love these books right now I encourage you to read on!!!!!

Review: The 2nd book in the series of infourtunate events is a big hit, like the 1st book (THE BAD BEGINNING). If you want to read about reptiles, a evil scheme, and a murder you'll LOVE this book.

Review: The Reptile Room is a wonderful book.Its funny and full of on-your-toes excitement and its (of course) not your every day book. If you are a softy, this books not for you! You have to be willing to take a joke, yet good and ready to laugh when the author talks to you through out this book.And to spice this up a little more, be sure to read the back pages!!!!

Summary: All for one and one for all
Review: How can you not love this second encounter with the Baudlaire children and their terrible misadventures? Not only do middle school children enjoy these Lemony Snicket books, but so do high schoolers and adults (such as myself.) In this episode the orphaned children are lucky enough to end up staying with their "Uncle Monty" who collects snakes, makes wonderful coconut cream pies and is going to let them join him on his next snake hunt. Of course, the appearance of Count Olaf changes all of that. So what happens this time? Read away and enjoy another fun trip into the Victorian misadventures of Violet, Sunny and Klaus.
