Summary: Tuesdays with Morrie is extremely overrated
Review: Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie is far from a great work of writing. It is generally trite and overtly sappy/sentimental. Morrie Schwartz was undoubtedly a nice man, and possibly intelligent -- but please, the book is boring.

Summary: I am appalled at this book's success
Review: (I gave this book 1 star because there was no option to give a negative star) I chose "Tuesdays with Morrie" as my selection for a book club in which I am a member. Call me cynical, but I was actually as embarrassed- as if I had forced the others to read a Harlequin Romance novel, or some other book reeking with contrived sentimentality.

In the spirit of Asian philosophy, this book seeks to impart profound wisdom to the reader through a short, simple story. In my opinion, however, the author fails to even penetrate even the most superficial layers of our fast-paced capilatlist, commercial, consumer society with his trite observations. I mean, how seriously can anyone take a man who includes on his list of topics to discuss with his mentor, "death" and "life" and "love?" The result is not a deep revelation, but immature generalizations.

This tepid attempt at transcendence lacks even the most basic insight, and I am disturbed that it has remained on the best seller's list for so long.

Summary: Of life & death, plain and simple
Review: A fine read for our modern times. It happily fills in time gaps between two places, say on a long haul flight. You'll almost enjoy sharing this man's one to one conversation while he's waiting in a very particular 'death row'. It brings back memories of young and innocent hopes and certainties one had, once. Scholars would probably rank this book close to 'Philosophy for the dummies', as it doesn't fly very high, where their concepts live... but I'd rather name it with a very long title like 'Interview with a dying man you would have loved to know'. It's one of those books to read when you are in a mood for... And you're usually not in a mood for anything when you're in a such a mood.

Summary: Can't stop talking
Review: I have never read this book (although I just ordered it and expect to read it shortly) But My teacher does not stop talking about this book! He reads us sections of it, and puts qoutes from the book on the board. I am REALLY looking forward to reading this book. Even though it took somebody to encourage me.

Summary: Tuesdays with Morrie
Review: It gives a great lesson on life. I was impressed by Morrie's positive attitude about his disease throughout the book. My father is suffering from a disease closely related to Morries, it really hit home.

Summary: Tuesdays with Morrie
Review: It had been a while to read a well written book that sends to this reader a refreshing reminder about life and purpose. Morrie reminded me about what is important and why we should live in the present moment. I'd buy this book for my close friends and relatives.

Summary: Excellent, but have tissues on hand!
Review: I had heard good things about this book before getting it as a gift for Christmas. I read it in one day. I learned a lot about myself and my spirituality. I got a glimpse into what life OUGHT to be about, instead of what we, as a society, think life is about. I will prioritize more appropriately in the future.

Summary: Tuesdays with Morrie
Review: I read this book on Christmas day. What a lovely story of life lessons and the friendship between two men. It also rang very true in the description of the dibilitation of Lou Gerigs disease.

I read hard core serious text like books everyday, this book added thought provoking warmth to my holiday.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Inspirational
Review: Once I started reading this book I could not put it down! I was completely moved by Morrie's story, by his strength, wisdom & love for life. Mitch Albom has made a story which could have been very depressing, one which makes my view on every day life now very different!
