Rating: Summary: Wow! I now look at life in a different way. Review: Before I read this book, I was stressed out. It was almost Christmas and everything was hectic! So I wanted to get involved in a book, and when I picked this one, I picked the right one.I know look at life in a whole new way. I remember Morrie's wise words when I'm having a bad day. I remember his words on a good one. I remember Morrie's words, and they go straight to my heart.
Rating: Summary: A must for every 'searching' soul Review: A deep and amusing account of Morrie's thoughts and reflection at the end of his life. Morrie, through his compassion, shared his waiting-for-death experience to teach us lessons on what's important in life - at the END.
Rating: Summary: How could you not love this book? Review: I am so saddened by the reviews of folks who can not absorb the beauty and simplicity of this book without becoming condescending, and not accepting the straightforward message spelled out for us by an amazing man. If Albom could grow from Morrie's message of abundant love, we would cheat ourselves if we didn't take part in this wonderful story. Read this...but not in public. (Cry factor!)
Rating: Summary: Morrie & Mitch Review: Mitch Albom's close personal friend and mentor, Morrie Schwartz bring humor and closeness from a brutal disease such as ALS. I could not put this book down.
Rating: Summary: IT WILL MAKE YOU LOVE LIFE Review: I LOVED THIS BOOK....IT MADE THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE NOT SEEM SO LITTLE ANYMORE.
Rating: Summary: As much Mitch as Morrie Review: I usually eschew "inspirational" best-sellers, but I read this one because I have a beloved relative with ALS and wanted to understand what she's going through. The deepening relationship between the two men as Morrie's condition worsens is touching, as is the transformation in Mitch's consciousness. However, I felt the book was nowhere near the "complete Morrie": being a consummate teacher, he set Mitch a limited assignment that he knew he could handle, but the deeper thinking behind Morrie's aphorisms remains unsaid. It's a good story (about Mitch), well written, and worth reading, but I'm looking forward to "Morrie in His Own Words" for what Morrie was really about.
Rating: Summary: No easy answers Review: Aside from being poorly written and full of trite examples and anecdotes, this book will not change your life. The advice on how to live is so old and over used it might have well been dispensed from a five year old. People turn to this book in order to give meaning and significance to their lives. Yet, the keys to a happy and rewarding life can not be found in best-selling pseudo-self help books. I advice starting somewhere a little more intellectually stimulating, but then again it is probably easier just to turn on the TV.
Rating: Summary: Life is so Rich! Review: I am reading Morrie finally after requesting it from Interlibrary Loan a long time ago! It came to me finally - on a Tuesday! I agree with the masses that it is a most wonderful book in it's simplicity! What I found the most interesting and which also brought a smile to my face were the negative responses! There will always be someone to point out the weakest link! Always someone to bring you down! Amazing! This book has the most simplest premise - Love - and still there are people that will fight it! I see how Jesus could have been brought down! But you know - I found that these very comments "the book was so short" or "he's getting rich off Morrie" or "it's so expensive" or "it's so banal" - very challenging remarks and exact a very passonate response from me! You know I have been noticing lately that really how long does it take for something to say that all that really counts is Love - but maybe some people need for it to be said in a very complex way to be believed and who cares where the money goes - did it touch your heart and awaken your soul and make it nod - Yes! But you know I didn't buy the book - I got it from a library. But now I am certain that I am going to buy it and have it in my library at home and I am going to request it for the college library where I work. So everyone keep up all the various comments - I get great passion either way no matter what is said 'cause all I really hear is my heart => What a great message - like I said - in it's simplicity.
Rating: Summary: Good Biography---Nice Lessons! Review: Liked this book, but I enjoyed more a book called: PERAMBULATIONS by CS BACK. PERAMBULATIONS was more down to Earth and honest....Spiritual too!
Rating: Summary: Read the book! Review: Most who have known someone who was terminally ill will immediatly see parts of them in Morrie. This was a moving book about death, life and two good men. It moved me to go and visit those who are ill, and it has impressed upon me ideas about those who are suffering that I will always remember.
