Summary: A Beautiful, Inspiring Book!
Review: This book touched me in many ways. I was inspired by the spirit of Morrie that was not destroyed by his terminal illness. In a way it was more evident because of the limits his illness had placed on him. Through his weekly teachings his old student saw how each moment of each day can be special and satisfying on its own. Even in the worst of times Morrie was happy to have time time to say good-by to the people in his life and to forgive himself and others, something he said really robbed one of many hours of satisfaction and happiness. He truly lived in each moment, whether it be in pain or in joy in seeing the leaves turn color in the fall or to share some time with people he loved. I came away from reading the book with new appreciation for my life and all the beauty and people in it.

If you like this book I think you will love "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" by Ariel and Shya Kane. It too tells about how truly living in the moment can change your life.

Summary: A dying mans comforting views on this hard life
Review: Wow! This book is a terrific quick read that everyone can enjoy. Life is looked at throuh an entirely new perspective when looked at through the eyes of a man who has accepted that death may come at any time. Societies accepted views of life are turned upside-down by the new views of an old man. Being crippled by Lou Gherrigs disease Morrie, an ex-college professor, shares his views on death, forgiveness, money, marriage, and much more. However this is much more than a book of the philosophy of life. You feel like you soon know Morrie as you watch him wither in your mind. Another great bonus is that the actual tape of Morrie's interview is easily attainable for you to watch afterwards. This is a book full of life views that are the complete oppisite of today societies expectations which makes this book a great hit.

Summary: Measuring life........
Review: This is a story of two men, one a successful sportswriter and the other , his former professor who is dying from ALS. Mr. Albom becomes the student again at a point in his life where he has reached success as far as fame and fortune are the guide. It takes lessons from a dying mentor to reawaken his spiritual side and to come to terms with what is truely important in a person's life, what the focus of one's life should be and how in the end of your life the world's measuring rod suddenly doesn't hold a candle to the spiritual measures of a good life. This was an amazing book. I read it when it was first published and have gone back to it several times. At a time in my life, when my mother is chronically ill and slipping away from us, this book helps me to focus on the life and the living my mom still has and not to mis-focus on death as an end. Thank you Mitch Albom! Thank you Morrie, you are a bright shining star in the heavens!

Summary: Excellent
Review: I've read this book three times now, and every time, I've cried. It is perfect for those people who have just suffered a loss of someone very special to read, and for those who haven't. I would recommend this book to anyone with an open mind; and an open heart.

Summary: The Book Mitch Alboom Wrote
Review: Where I live, I teach Finance part-time in the Honors Department of the most prestigious university. I love teaching and enjoy every minute of it. I love my students and have gone, and will still go through, the extra mile for them. I enjoyed sharing new materials that could probably help them "when the rubber meets the road" (meaning, after graduation), they resented it. Sadly, most of the new breed of students didn't like the load I gave - too much reading, too much extra work, too much of everything - they said.

I was in the west coast last May for a meeting and stayed with relatives San Francisco. Coming from a family of academicians and professionals, they understood my sentiment and recommended the book. How does one make an impact in the life of others? How do you leave an 'after glow" to your students, as Morrie did?

The book is a humbling process and a reminder of what matters most in life. I am glad that this book was a collaboration of two very credible people - an honest journalist, and a highly respected professor. Reading through Tuesdays with Morrie reinforced some valued and principles.

I have read a lot of reviews on this book. I don't mind that the focus of most readers have been on Morrie Schwartz. But I'd say that I tip my hat off to Alboom - it takes a lot of courage to be honest with your feelings when you are the writer and be able to share it in all honesty. I have to say that I admire and respect the integrity of the way Mitch Alboom wrote the book and I bet Morrie may even be smiling on him.

Summary: Morrie Talked and I Listened...
Review: I often judge a book's value by how long its words stay with me. I finally got around to reading TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE a few months ago to see what all the fuss was about, and Morrie's life still resonates deep inside me. In these days when our children often search for people who define the word "hero," here is depicted a quiet hero, one who faced both life and death with dignity, compassion, and wisdom. This book has now become a regular part of my high school and college graduation gifts. And if its lessons aren't learned quite then, perhaps they will be later on in that graduate's life. As far as TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE's author, Mitch Albom's journalism background keeps him from getting overly maudlin or tragic. His spare writing style makes it easy to digest Morrie's pearls of wisdom, and keeps the reader from feeling sorry for a man who wanted no pity. Albom also offers the reader an unflinching look at Lou Gehrig's Disease, which educates at the same time as it horrifies. This is not a book so much about Morrie Schwartz's death, but rather about his life. And what a life it was... I regret never having met Morrie while he was alive...it would have been a privilege. I must be content to have him live on for me in the pages of Albom's book. Thank you, Mr. Albom, for writing TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. And thank you, Mr. Schwartz, for having made this world a better place just by having lived.

Summary: Life's Greatest Lesson
Review: I thought this book had a great story. The way it was put together kept you reading no matter how tired you were. You had to keep reading to see what happened next in the short time that Morrie had left. At the end it moved you to tears, not only because you knew the end was coming for Morrie, but because of the struggles he went through with his illness and the love he had for everyone and not just his family, but for all man kind!

Summary: Need to read for EVERYONE!!!
Review: I could not put Tuesdays With Morrie down!!! I usually have a hard time reading, seeing as I was blind and crossed when I was younger, but this was the first book I have sat and read almost in one sitting! It was amazing. It gave me something to look forward to in my own life. I jotted down many notes and quotes as I read and look back, they fill me with compassion and understanding of life~ at least a little more than what I had. This book made me laugh at many parts and made me shed tears of sadness at others. Tonight I went out to a park with one of my friends. I did not really notice all of the things I was missing out on: the little daisies, the baby ducklings, rolling down a grassy knoll. It made me free like I was breathing life again. WOW! What a great time. Tuesdays with Morrie is a REAL book. It is not really a fiction that you can never quite relate too, but almost an autobiography about one man who helped a student learn all he could about himself and life. I have always had a passion for literature~ it carries me away, but this book was life. I could feel the pain and love and hardships the two main characters where faces with. It was real. The issues that were discussed, where issues that everyone has to deal with at one point of another in their life. The advice, truth and wisdom shared reminds me of a grandfather or mother telling their legacy. Since I picked up this book, I have not been able to get it off my mind. I was working today <I work at a day camp with children> and quotes from the book kept popping in my head. On the way to work this morning, I was frustrated because I had to turn around take the long way to work because of road construction. I was then reminded of the traffic bubble man and the "don't sweat the small stuff" thing. After that thought, I felt better and entered work happy and more refreshed. I have NEVER had a book make such an impact on my life. I think It is also the timing. I am moving into the next stage of my life <college> and ready to face "grown-up" issues and responsibilities. Again, I cannot thank you enough for recommending this novel to me!! Hopefully, my low self-esteem will raise and once again I can throw myself into the world at full force!!

Summary: Too straight-forward
Review: Tries to be an inspiring story (in a self-help sort of way). But the writing style is so straight-forward an unimaginative that I found it pretty boring.
