Summary: Tuesdays with Morrie has a little something for everyone!
Review: i was skepticle about reading this book, but as time went on i was entraped in it's story. a man about to cross death's thresh-hold was about to reveal his secrets of life. not only that but he rediscovers a wonderful friendship with a former student and author of this book. one thing that sticks out in my mind and makes this a great book is Morrie's bluntness about everything. he was not scared or ashamed of anything he had to say. in fact everything he said had a specific point he wanted readers to understand. Morrie's "down to earth" nature is something else i found unique about him. he was always calm and never let little things get to him. he accepted things as the came to him. Mitch (his former student) finds a new respect for life as Morrie teaches him his "final lesson". his writing style is simple reading, but never loses its initial focus. everyone has something to learn from this book. from love to hatred, life to death, this is a must read. this story truly teaches lifes greatest lesson.

Summary: Tremendous Literature
Review: I enjoyed everything from the title to the word for word content in 'Teusdays With Morrie'. Reading this book is one of the most heart touching experiences you can achieve. You can actually feel with the characters; there troubled times and the good times they have shared together. This book on another level was also very informing, it gets you in tune with the disease ALS and makes you understand it. Morries philosophies and thoughts are also eye openers to life. His philosophies make you think and lok at life in a whole new way as well as see how he copes. I think 'Tuesdays With Morrie' should be experienced by all.

Summary: A wonderful piece of life
Review: Tuesdays with Morrie is soul moving book. It really makes you question life and where yours is going. The author, Mitch Albom, is one of the two main characters. He is a successful sports writer who gave up his musical dream for money. Morrie is an old college professer who is dignosed with ALS. The story captures there times together and there views on life. This as an absolutyl wonderful book. Everyone should be required to read it at least once in there lifetime.

Summary: Certainly makes one think.
Review: This book is a best seller and continues to stay on the best seller list because in my opinion most people down deep understand the truth of Morrie's basic philosophy that people living exclusively in a materialistic world generally do so to replace what they feel is missing from their lives even though they may not be consciously aware, at the moment, of what precisely is "missing." What is missing ? I found part of this answer in a general sense in this book. I found even more precise and concrete answers in the book An Encounter With A Prophet. I highly recommend both of these books to anyone seeking to find out why they seem to continue to feel something is missing from life.

Summary: FOOD FOR THOUGHT THAT WILL ENRICH YOUR LIFE
Review: In this true-life story, Morrie Schwartz, teacher and mentor, is dying, but as his days lessen in number, he passes on some valuable words of wisdom to long-time student Mitch Albom. Morrie is a man who has learned the importance of living each day to the fullest; a man who has experienced his own share of trials and tribulations, and through it all become wise and enlightened in life's lessons. The obstacles which we think weigh us down are seen to Morrie as inconsequential challenges that make up our life.

Anyone who tends to live in a materialistic world will benefit enormously from reading the brilliant, philosophic words of this incredible man in his final days. From my studies in psychology, I agree with Morrie's philosophy that people who live in a materialistic world generally do so to replace what they feel is missing from their lives even though they may not be consciously aware, at the moment, of what precisely is "missing."

Young or old, financially wealthy or poor, regardless of your position in the life cycle, you will benefit tremendously from this wonderful book. You will share a laugh with Morrie at his wit and humour in lessons of love and wisdom. You will also cry, not with him but for him, as life's final journey on this Earth concludes. Having read "Tuesdays with Morrie" is like having an angel light the way down an unknown path. Wherever his soul may be, I am sure it is revealed in the cheerful sound of a songbird in morning's first light. The song that tells us each minute of this day is to be treasured, to be filled with love, joy and compassion for others, for we will not come this way again. Do not miss this book; it is one you will remember...always.

Summary: Things never said, Things never heard
Review: TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE has been a little blinking light on the Best Seller List for so many months that I finally decided to surrender and see what all the enduring fuss was about. Besides, I needed a quick read for an airplane flight. Couldn't be that bad..........

But surprise!......in the nicest way. This little recorded conversation between a sage, dying old teacher and a prominent sports writer distills almost everything I wish I had experienced with my father before he died. We all have people that meant alot to us and died before we plumbed their souls. Ah, but this little tome is not about dying; this book is about living and living completely and compassionately, embracing our emotions with gusto and sharing that zest with our fellow earth-dwellers. There is so much joy that spills from Morrie's slowly failing mouth that humor is always present, even if caressed by tears.

This is not a Self Help Book. This is a goldmine of lessons, of wisdom and of love. No matter where you are in the life cycle, whether a child or an earnest teenager, a fast forward adult or a member of the golden years clique, this book should be required reading. And since Morrie would not have us put too much emphasis on collecting "things", give it to someone you love when you finish the stroll through this marvelous diary.

Summary: Points to Ponder
Review: I have never read a book like Tuesdays with Morrie. It is very unique. It is not about the culture of America, but life in general. The way everyone should live their life. This book presents many important points about life's great lessons. It really makes you think about what is important to you. "Wherever I went in my life, I met people wanting to gobble up something new. Gobble up a new car. Gobble up a new piece of property. Gobble up the latest toy. And then they wanted to tell you about it. 'Guess what I got? Guess what I got?' You know how I always interpreted that? These were people so hungry for love that they were accepting substitues. They were embracing material things and expecting a sort of hug back. But it never works. You can't substitute material things for love or for gentleness or for tenderness or for a sense of comradeship. Money is not a substitute for tenderness, and power is not a substitute for tenderness. I can tell you as I'm sitting here dying, when you most need it, neither money nor power will give you the feeling you're looking for, no matter how much of them you have." (pg.125) This is what I liked about the book. It makes life seem so simple. It put life in a prespective that the "living" do not usually think about on a daily basis. It helped me appricate the life that I have been given. The only thing I did not like about the book is that Morrie dies in the end.

Summary: The perfect book for a difficult time
Review: I read this book for the first time three years ago. It was referred to me by a friend when an important person in my life had passed away. In the last month, my grandfather and my husband's grandmother have passed away. I have been able to share the beauty of this book with other people in my family. It is an exquisite tribute to Morrie - and can have a profoundly healing effect for people suffering the loss of a loved one. Albom captures the importance of life and relationships. It's an incredible book.

Summary: "Don't waste your life - be optimistic and live meaningfully
Review: This is the message I get from this book. Short story, pretty powerful considering this is a true story (although I think the author could have thrown in more passion or written it more touchingly). Or maybe the genuity is what makes the book so well received, and of course I have nothing against a true and down-to-earth story over a dramatic tear-jerking story.

The message conveyed in the book is all positive - and I believe it's both soothing to people who are facing difficulties in life and encouraging to people who are lost in life and would propel them to establish new goals.

Last but not least, I highly recommend another more 'practical' book with similarly positive and stronger effects (and of course a longer read) - "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey.
