Rating: Summary: While he is dying, Morrie motivates you to live. Review: This is a very motivational and uplifting book. While suffering through the painful progression of a deadly disease, Morrie promotes thought into what is really improtant in life. Morrie is a teacher who truly lived his life to the fullest even under the most painful circumstances. A must read for all!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: This book makes you analyze what is important in ones life. Makes you wonder if you can be so satisfied with you life and death as Morrie was. I highly recommend this book and if anything it will make you want to go out and hug you friends and family, and live life NOW.
Rating: Summary: Emotionally touching Review: My wife and I travel weekends to our cottage in Northern Michigan, a trip of about 4 hours. To help pass the time we have started reading books to each other. I was doing the reading this trip while she drove. We had heard so much about this book we wanted to read it. As I read we both became very touched by this real life story. Toward the end I had to put the book down before I could finish reading because of the tears and emotion we were experiencing. You see, my wife is a teacher and this book really hit home with her! I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a tendency to take life too seriously. The relationship between Mitch and Morrie was really special!
Rating: Summary: Very touching - Morrie's philosophy needs to be shared Review: Morrie is a wonderful teacher/mentor who truly influences his former pupil, Mitch, for a lifetime. He not only schools his pupil as a student, but continues to convey his values to him in later life. Mitch Albon has written of his experience with humor sometimes, but reading of Mitch's experience with Morrie also brings on the tears. This book is a must read, I don't miss an opportunity to give it to friends.
Rating: Summary: The mentor teaches until the end; selfless and compassionate Review: I heard the author on ESPN last fall talking about this book. I thought at first this was some kind of mistake; a dying professor with ALS and a former student just did not sound like a sports story. Well, it's not, but the message was an excellent one for the sporting forum. The reader learns what's important in life and it's not stuff or status. Morrie knew this all along but I think Mitch came to appreciate these values. The book is excellent for people (I'm trying not to say men) who have lost their objectivity. The corporate ladder sometimes tips over when one gets to the top and the climber is not prepared for the fall. Read this book and remember a special relationship that needs rekindling. Mitch's Morrie lives on!!
Rating: Summary: This is an incredibly rich and moving book. Review: So often we have to made aware of our own mortality in order to enjoy life to its fullest. Through his relationship with Morrie Schwarz, Mitch Albom discovers this fact. The character of Morrie which is so incredibly etched by Mr. Albom is one that I shall long remember. As a college professor, it is so affirming to realize that a fellow instructor can have such a positive and lasting impact on his students. Thank you, Morrie, for a wonderful lesson in life, death, and above all, love, and thank you, Mitch Albom for bringing allowing us to meet this unforgettable character.
Rating: Summary: The book reveals how to get more from life. Review: This is a great book. Morrie Schwartz inspires with his thoughts and actions. In an age when angst is fashionable, it is refreshing and inspiring to read about a human being who has much to complain about but rejoices, who could die unnoticed, but lives heroically, so we must notice him. He represents the best of what a human being can be. Thanks to Mitch Albom, we can all know Morrie.
Rating: Summary: Learn how to live - all over again. Review: This book is a wonderful reminder of what is really important in life. When you begin to feel that life's burdens and tasks have all but brought you to your knees, have this book on hand to help bring your life's priorities back into your own perspective.
Rating: Summary: A simple summary of the simple meaning of life Review: We often try to make life much more than it is or should be. In a very personal way, Mitch helps Morrie show all of us that life boils down to our relationships with each other. Giving is not a materialistic experience. It is sharing, loving and listening. Morrie helps us to see through the weeds in the garden to the beauty of the flowers.
Rating: Summary: A moving story of courage in the face of death. Review: I consider this book a must read. I can't imagine too many people that wouldn't enjoy this book. So far this book has been passed throught my family and our friends. It is worth putting in your library and sharing. I have many views and personal reservations about death and reading this story of Morrie's courage and strength and humor changed some of my oun views. I really thought and evaluated myself. You may even be moved to tears. It is equally good on audio.-J. Kenning
