Review: This is the real thing, a story about deep loss and soaring redemption. It portrays and promotes a gentleness that reminds me of "The Prince Mammoth Pumpkin~A Parable" by James Adams. This book will touch your soul.

Review: A friend with a terminal illness loaned me this book. At first, I was afraid to read it because I thought it would be depressing. It was not depressing - it was uplifting and thought-provoking. I made notes of some of the things I wish to ponder. I may suggest it to my monthly bookclub for reading and discussion.

Review: No one gets off Planet Earth alive, but the question is what do we do while we're here? Morrie's lesson to us all is both timeless and cogent. A rare work indeed. Kudos to Mitch Albom. ...I am encouraged.

Summary: Excellent book that related to my personal situation.
Review: I purchased this book while waiting for a plane at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. I had spent the weekend visiting my grandfather who had been close to death in the Intensive Care Unit on a ventilator for over a week. "Tuesday's With Morrie" connected with me because it made me realize dying was OK and that it really is a normal, natural and even somwhat joyous part of our life experience here on earth. It seemed to me that many of Morrie's views were the same as my grandfather's and this helped me through my grieving process. This book is trully about the important things in life.

Summary: Not as Great as I thought it Would Be; I couldn't relate
Review: I'm not going to say that is was a BAD book (it wasn't), but it wasn't wonderful...it wasn't thought-provoking like I thought it would be. It isn't anything that I hadn't heard before. I am sick of shallow descriptions of death (such as "oh, you must remember to appreciate **insert noun such as "life" or "fresh air" here** Or "Always keep love in your heart"). If all authors writing about death wrote like that, then we would never have any insight into what a powerful thing it is. We read books to capture other experiences that haven't happened to us. To taste life from a different view. It didn't happen with this book. I like it when authors handle such subject matter as death with sub-plots to illustrate their points. Instead of telling us to keep love in our hearts, tell us why it is important-- show us what happened when you didn't so we can understand the value of such wisdom. I can understand that the author wrote this from a real life experience, which probably explains the format in which the book is written. I believe that the book was compiled from his recorded conversations with the professor-- and you could almost catergorize this as non-fiction. If you knew the old professor (Morrie) previously or have had some sort of run-in with ALS, then this book is one that you can relate to. If not, then I suggest to skip over it; it's not going to be special to you. I couldn't relate to it.

Summary: Awakening to the important things in life!!! 5 plus stars!!
Review: Thank You Mitch Albom! At the time that I picked this book up, it wasn't yet at the top of the bestseller lists, as it is today. "An Old Man, a Young Man, and the Last Great Lesson" caught my eye as I headed towards the checkout. It struck me still for a brief moment. I am a 32 year old female who had just lost her friend and mentor one week prior. He was my fathers friend and mine and played such an important & special place in my life. He had been very sick for a long time and I wished I could have done something to help him. It was Christmas time, and I was feeling very sad. I picked up this book hoping that it would make me feel better. I didn't know that the book would make me laugh and cry out loud like it did. This book helped me to understand that I did help my friend just by being the person he taught me to be, and that made me feel better. My family is from the Detroit area, so I knew Mitch Albom as a sports writer... I wasn't sure what to expect from him when I picked up the book. Certainly not the sensitivity that he shows. I was pleasantly surprised! Thanks again, Mitch!

Summary: This book is terrific!
Review: This book is one of the best books I have read in a long time. I was inspired by Morrie's undying spirit and great outlook on life. While reading I felt as if I were talking to my grandfather and taking in every bit of advice he had to offer. Once I started reading I couldn't put the book down. I finished it in two days which is rare for me. I would definitely reccomend this book to anyone and have to many of my friends.

Summary: I started reading it on a Tuesday and couldn't put it down!
Review: This is a wonderful book. You can't help but fall in love with Morrie. Not only is he a teacher and coach to Mitch Albom, but to the reader as well. Not since I read, "Where the Red Fern Grows" in sixth grade has a book moved me to tears. Morrie's last class is one every student of life should take.
