Summary: Great book of spiritual renewal and discovery.
Review: This is must read for anyone ready to move beyond the day-to-day and into a higher realm of spiritual maturity.

Summary: CRYING FOR MORRIE, OR CRYING FOR OURSELVES?
Review: I think this book moved so many people not only because of Morrie Schwartz. Rather, we are all pretty much afraid of what the end will be like, and can only wish we had Morrie's loving family and adoring visitors at our side and his ingenious spirit and attitude when it's our time. Even though I am 29, I wonder who will hold my hand when it's my turn. That's what made me cry. Pretty shallow, huh?

Some have called this book sophoric and simple. That's its beauty. It isn't bogged down with theoretical and theological expoundings on life and death. It is the simple recording and reporting on the last few months of a very interesting life.

My question is though: How much money did the author make off this #1 bestseller, and whether he has truly embraced any of the wisdom imparted by his mentor.

Summary: The second best book I've ever read!
Review: I loved the lessons Morrie had to share... so much so that I am going to read this book to my high school students for 15 minutes every TUESDAY (of course!)... it's a math class, but the lessons are so important for readers of all ages...

Summary: It touched our hearts and lives!
Review: Both my husband and I read this and were truly touched. For several years we had debated the issue of having a family. This book gave us the encouragement we needed. So often we hear of the troubles of parenting and this put that role in a positive light. This encouraged a good deal of reflection on my mothers death 13 years ago when I was 26 yrs old as well. At the time I was overwhelmed with grief and didn't want to lose my mother I was so caught up in her dying I didn't enjoy the last months of her life. This is a mistake I won't repeat. This is absolutely the most positive book I have read in years. It could be classified as a "self help" book. But don't put it there it might scare readers away.

Summary: I was moved to another level in my own mourning.
Review: The author allows the experience of his listening to bring us the wisdom of his professor. I, like other reviewers, found new levels of understanding in my own mourning as I reflected deeply on the recent death of my father. I read this book in one reading, remembered well the 'white whiskers' growing on the chin of someone so near death, cried deeply, and stepped into new understandings.

Summary: A must read for all who have ever taught or been taught.
Review: To be a teacher is one of life's greatest gifts. In this thoughtful and emotion-provoking book, you learn the lesson of learning and living. While our formal education may end with graduation or completion, our learning must never stop. All of us have a teacher, mentor, or "hero" that impacted our lives so deeply that we will never be the same. It is never too late to realize that person.....and to say thank-you by sending him or her a copy of this book. A student of mine gave it to me....and I will never be the same. The power of a teacher (whether formal or informal) is the greatest gift that keeps on giving. Read this book and say thank you....before it is too late.

I recommended this book to my class...to send to their "Morrie". What a profound teacher he must have been to continue teaching and challenging even after he is gone.

Summary: One of the most moving books I've ever read.
Review: It is very seldom that while reading a book, I get choked up and feel the tears welling up in my eyes. This story articulates those actions and human qualities which everyone, as a member of humanity, inherently knows they should outwardly show and do, but rejects because, sadly, those things are not accepted in our present society and culture as good and decent qualities to possess. While reading, I came to the sad acceptance that such knowledge almost always, disappointingly, must come at the end of a life. Morrie's wisdom and aphorisms will be near and dear to me.

After finishing the book, I wished I had known Morrie Schwartz.

Summary: LEARN,LAUGH,CRY,GRIEVE:THANK YOU MORRIE!
Review: I read this book in one sitting and when I put it down I wanted to be able to have some genie grant me "THREE WISHES"! 1. I wanted to be in college with Morrie as my professor and my friend. 2. I wanted Morrie to continue to be my friend and mentor forever, knowing a phone call or a visit were the only things between hearing the thought provoking "wisdom" from Uncle Morrie Schwartz. 3. I WISH MORRIE WAS STILL ON THIS PLANET!!!

P.S. Morrie Schwartz had alot more to teach. Most of us met him way too late, but for those of you who had the privilege of having Morrie as part of your life, you may consider yourself "VERY BLESSED"..........Thank you Mitch, for introducing us to an incredible human being. His life touched many people through life and through death.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: a great book to read, reflect and give to others
Review: This books delivers the awareness that often comes from someone close to death. In this case we can learn from the observations of Morrie and gain from his insight. A wonderful book that opens the minds to the simple things in life that we often take for granite. Morrie's observations will enlighten and amuse and ultimately move you.
