Rating: Summary: Loved it - A must for anyone! Review: Tuesdays with Morrie was a beautifully written story about a professor who was able to share the true meaning of life with a treasured friend.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book. It's what living and dying is all about. Review: I'm amazed at how many people have reviewed this book. I only expected a couple dozen. I borrowed this book from my Mom after overhearing her endorse it to friends. I'm only on page 40 but felt it was worth a review at that point. Morrie Schwartz is an inspiration to all of us, both healthy and alive and those with terminal illnesses. We don't think about death until we are faced with it up close, whether it be your own or friends and family. It's not a nice thing to think about. Morrie Schwartz faces it with courage and an upbeat attitude. This is one of the best books I've read this year. It's emotionally touching not to mention a quick and easy read.
Rating: Summary: This book lacks depth and is written at a gradeschool level. Review: I am very disappointed with this book and am stunned by the amount of positive reviews. This book lacked depth. The main ideas could have been summed up in less than 1000 words, but are repeated over and over. It is written at a gradeschool level. Furthermore, it becomes apparent that Mitch Albom was in it for the money the entire time (as was Morrie to pay for medical bills).
Rating: Summary: thought provoking and kind Review: I very much enjoyed this story of farewell. A good choice for anyone planning to visit a terminally ill friend.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the paper it's printed on Review: Just because a man is old and dying doesn't mean that he automatically knows all. Morrie made statements about how life should be lived. These statements were accepted by the characters in the book as the truth just because he was dying. I just couldn't accept this. Although this book was very highly recommended to me by a friend as a "must read", I was greatly disappointed in the lack of substance.
Rating: Summary: This is one inspid book. Review: The professor sounds like a great guy but Albom took his wisdom and distilled it into a Hallmark card of platitudes. But the book is worth reading to learn the magic formula that creates a best-seller. I wish I wrote this book. For the $$$$
Rating: Summary: It touched my heart down to my soul!! Review: I found heart-warming and eye-opening advice from a man I may not have had the patience to listen to in real life. He exemplifies the meaning to "the circle of life". And demonstrates to those of us always looking for a quick and easy fix, that we need love and kindness, not time and money. Thank You!!
Rating: Summary: Powerful, moving and incredibly touching. Review: You cannot read this book without taking something away with you that can change how you look at life and death in a very profound way. Tuesdays with Morrie is a great lesson in the living of life a in spite of the reality of death. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: well-worth the time, money and emotions expended! Review: This one hit home and hard! Well-written, and, more importantly, humanly written. The feelings and emotions Mitch and Morrie shared are for real, believable and definable. It's easy to feel the other characters as well, even though they may only be referenced briefly. As someone who has prided herself on her "childless by choice" stance, I spent the weekend wondering what was really at the root of those feelings. If there isn't a Morrie in your life, find one or be one. Live life out loud.
Rating: Summary: A reminder of lessons from life to often forgotten Review: A must read book for those who have become caught up in the fast pace of today and the need to do it all and have it all today. Through his Tuesday conversations with Morrie, Mitch Albom is able to capture the messages of life shared with him by his friend and mentor. While the lessons shared through the weekly meetings are not new, the fact that they are often ignored or forgotten is what makes this book so powerful.
