Rating: Summary: fantastic Review: For all those that think Mitch was just revisiting Morrie for the money that the book would make. Which I've read a lot on the reviews. Think about how Morrie treasured Mitch's presence, if Morrie gave Mitch the benefit of the doubt so should we.
Rating: Summary: Live life to the fullest Review: The only reason I read this book was because my reading group had choosen it. I thought it would be some wimpy, plain jane, boring book. It turned out to be a GREAT book. I have recommended it to all my friends and family. Yes, I know exactly what it is like to work a gazillion hours a week, go to and do everything, and pencil in my family for a few hours every few months for holidays. This book has made me realize how much I have missed my family and friends. It also made me realize how much people can give of themselves to others. Thats what life is about.
Rating: Summary: Tuesdays with Morrie: what we should teach our children Review: I read "Tuesdays with Morrie" in two hours last night, but I'm sure I will be referring to it for years. In my opinion, the most important point Morrie made was this: If those we love keep our memories alive in their hearts after we are gone, we never truly die. I lost my father when I was 18 and a freshman in college and my mother when I was 33 and pregnant with my first child, but through me, both my parents will live on in my children's memories from my family stories. This is the best epitaph I could think of for myself. While watching the morning news and fixing the kids breakfast this morning, I, like Morrie, danced around my kitchen. My kids looked on aghast (they would have me think!) but years from now, when I am gone, I would bet they will tell their children what a goofball their mother was and how much they love and miss her. This sense of connection with others is the best legacy we could leave our children. We are never really alone as long as we have our memories of those we love. Having a great book to read every once in a while, like this one, doesn't hurt either!
Rating: Summary: This book is a blessing Review: Tuesdays with Morrie is not only uplifting, but honest and heartfelt. If one does not come away from this book with a new outlook on how you should be living life, you need to go back and read it again. We can all learn something from Morrie.
Rating: Summary: Nothing to say Review: This book says very little about Morrie and a quite abit about the auther and his life. I read this book expecting to discover how I might re-prioritize my life. I came away with nothing. I did not get to know Morrie or feel anything towards him. I just kept thinking that the author was taking a tragic situation and trying to make a buck off of it. It might have been better if the author would tell us what impact these final days with Morrie had on his life. Is he now living differently because of this? I wonder.
Rating: Summary: Why make it difficult when it's so easy?? Review: Why would Albom want to make this book a wordy, weighty accout? He kept it light--he let his reader smile with Morrie and himself. He let us listen to his tape recorder. He let Morrie teach us--wasn't that the whole point? Self-help books be damned! Morrie wanted us to know what "it" is all about and Mitch wrote "it" so gently that no one need look further...
Rating: Summary: open your heart and not your brain Review: This was a quick read - a boon for those chasing the American Dream. For in the short time it takes to read this book or hear about it from a friend, you learn that what you chase may be right in your heart all along. Many are afraid of what they will find in themselves when the car and the job and the house are taken away. The first step is finding the right priorties and not following the culture. A tough concept but I am thrilled someone finally drew attention to what is ailing our society.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely 5 stars! Very Good! Review: Tuesdays with Morrie was the best book I have read in a long time. It expressed how to live and die. It made you feel you were right there with Morrie and he became your friend. The best part of it though, is it really happened. I think is wonderful someone really felt that way and all. I recomend this book to anyone, but mainly to poeple who have lost or losing loved ones and people who need to change their lives around.
Rating: Summary: Tuesdays With Morrie fails to deliver Review: After all I'd heard about Tuesdays With Morrie, I figured this book would wind up on my list of favorites. It was destined for greatness, but lacked that something special to actually realise it's potential. After reading Tuesdays, I'm left craving for something more moving...
Rating: Summary: Everyone should own this Review: I rarely say this about a book, but was very reluctant to pick it up. However, I was very pleased and I found that I could not put it down. The book is a quick read (3 hours max) but it is very insiteful and you learn a lot about life.
