Rating: Summary: Give yourself hope that real people do exist-read this book! Review: Don't be fooled by the New York Times Book Review, this book is excellent! If you are like me you will read the book, come away from the experience with hope and a greater sense of what really matters in life, and then wonder if the critic read the same book! A critic will say: "despite it's obvious charm and good nature of both author and subject", yada, yada, yada,... but discount this negative statement. There is a reason why this book is being passed around in circles of friends and families. I only wish I had an entire case of this book so that I could pass copies out to the people I care about.
Rating: Summary: A book of honesty and simple truths that touched my heart. Review: This is a small book filled with what I believe to be great openness and an honest desire to share a very human experience. Initially I was a bit hesitant to read this book... knowing the topic I was afraid it would be depressing. Instead I found the reverse to be true. It's a simple book of simple truths, but truths we all too often forget in the rush of our daily lives. It reawakened my belief in the strength and wisdom of the human spirit, and the importance of being conscious and connected to that spirit... a reminder many of us can use every now and again.
Rating: Summary: It`s the most amazing experience what happened to me Review: he has changed my life style & personality. He made me more considerate & kind. I already read three times. I read the book translated in korea two times and one is English. whenever i think of his teaching ,especially detachment & soul,it makes me rest & cool. you must read this if you lived busy life and needed some kind of rest.
Rating: Summary: Poorly written and melodramatic Review: I admit that I only read the first half of the book. I couldn't stand any more. One of the reviewers said something about "fourth-grade level" writing, and I couldn't agree more. Why do so many people eat this up? Have they never before thought about life and death? This book is appropriate for the reading level and reasoning ability of a ten-year-old.
Rating: Summary: a true gem of a book that teaches you how to really live Review: I've only read about half of the book...but i couldn't wait to write something about how amazing and wonderful this book is...and so i started to type this...despite the fact that there's still half a book to read...Although i've finished only half of the book...already the book has made a profound impact on my life...i have been able to think about how i have lived my life till now...about what, where, how, with whom, and why i did things in the past...my thoughts on so many things have been altered and confirmed...thoughts i had before, but was afraid to act on..this book has provided me with the strength and encouragement to actually start living the life that i wanted to live inside of me...
Rating: Summary: One of the most touching books I've ever read Review: This book made me look at the world in a whole new way. It made me realize the good and the bad in the world and how one should cope with both. I feel the author did a wonderful job conveying the meaning of life according to Morrie.
Rating: Summary: Touching and enlightening read Review: I cannot say enough about this book. Everyone should be required to read this book as a manual to live one's life! It's so sad that on our deathbeds, we regret so many things - things Morrie, in this book is telling us to do NOW, while we're healthy and young. Don't be so caught up in money and power. Make every minute of your life count by giving, experiencing, loving. Mitch Albom is a beautiful and sincere author. Thank you for this book Mitch and Morrie.
Rating: Summary: The most important place to find in your life. Review: For me a truly inspirational book that made me look at my own shortcomings and learn to detach. The people around us are really the most important things in life and should be cherished as so.
Rating: Summary: Kahlil Gibran said it better Review: OK, OK, you made me cry......And I really did cry at parts of this book. And I have no doubt that Morrie was right in his approach to life. We could all do with more of his insights. But I kept thinking periodically, what is going on with his relationship with his wife, his closer family? Where are they as he dies? Well, let's give Mitch a break. It IS about Mitch's reactions to this man dying. (A little like my old college room mate calling me up after lo these may years and saying: "Rusty, we haven't touched base for 25 years, and I was sitting here smoking my pipe, talking with my wife and kids, and sudenly I found myself thinking we'll be dead in 20 years and I ought to find out how the hell you are.") But Gibran said it more completely, poetically, and ultimately more universally 76 years ago when The Prophet was published.
Rating: Summary: A must book for adults of all ages. Review: My daughter loaned me the book last week. I started reading that morning, and put it down only when I had finished reading it. The author masterfully puts the reader in his shoes as he converses with his mentor, Morrie. This is a MUST read for adults of all ages.
