Rating: Summary: A life altering read!!! Review: Every man, woman and child on earth should read this book at some point in their lives. With courage and dignity, Morrie teaches us all "not to sweat the small stuff". I feel blessed to have been able to share these two special lives!
Rating: Summary: It's really great !!! Review: After reading less than a half of the book, I found that life is more beautiful than I ever thought. "Morrie" and "Albom" helped me with that book. They saw through and communicate to all readers in a very beautiful way and encourage us to live a good, beautiful way.
Rating: Summary: "Morrie's Thousand Little Truisms." Review: After reading Tuesdays with Morrie, I felt throroughly unsatisfied. The book was more like a self-help book--something along the lines of "Life's 101 Greatest Lessons."I think Mitch Albom had an immediate instinct to deify Morrie...not that there was anything wrong with that, but he certainly lost some perspective. I'm glad that others have found a great deal of inspiration in the book; virtually all of my friends have flocked to it as well. However, as a piece of literature, it simply doesn't stand up...it's more of a pop-culture phenomenon. I'm surprised that no one else has shared my opinion.
Rating: Summary: what is important in this life? Review: i had to read this book for school, needless to say i wasnt to thrilled. only after reading this book did i realize what the author was going through. he is just a regular guy going through life with the wrong ideals, until he is saved by his "coach". this book is not only honest in its text, but also seemingly familar. i would venture to say this will be a bestseller for some time. if you want to read a good book with true human emotion, i highly recommend this work.
Rating: Summary: At least someone had the nerve to say it ... Review: This book is about being human. It is about spirituality and connection. Too many people out there lack both in their lives ... every kid acting out, every parent buying a toy instead of giving their child the attention the child craves, every depressed old person lying alone in a nursing home bed. While the lessons could have been said in 1000 words or less, their message would have been lost in the preachiness of it all. Have a funny, happy, dying old man say those words instead and then they make sense. I am glad Mitch shared Morrie's last few weeks with us. I am glad Morrie's hospital bills were offset by the book advance. If you are lucky enough to have a Morrie in your life, then perhaps this book is just telling you what you already know. If not, then take this story for what it is ... a teacher, his student, and their time together. In either case, remember that most of us would not have made the time to spend with Morrie in the end.
Rating: Summary: This was one of the worst books I have ever read. Review: Tuesdays with Morrie was simply an attempt to explain death, written by someone who does not know how to write. I painstakingly managed to complete this thin book for a school report after hours of boredom. It was only after much difficulty that I was able to actually focus on the boring text. I can usually finish a 400 page book within a couple hours. Tuesdays with Morrie was fortunately far from 400 pages. However, it took forever to finish. I can recommend this book to no one.
Rating: Summary: He taught us to love Review: Believe me that I'm really moved by Morrie's greatest lesson to all of us. I was really lucky able to get this book from the US and when I've read it, I never let it down until I finished with the classes. Tuesdays with Morrie already declares love is the most rational thing and bide with the care, the trust and the relation, our lives can be much a better place to live. Morrie taught us to accept death as living and not a disease, because through him I've understand one of his greatest quote, You'll learn to live when you learn to die. I've met no one so true and able to show us the real meaning of life. The book covers on every aspect from family to regrests and finally aging then dying, Morrie shown us that satisfaction with life is very important and able to go on, live on is the best gift you can ever receive.
Rating: Summary: An insightful, embraceable literary journey Review: I read this book very shortly after the loss of my mother. Understandably, I was hesitant. What I found, however, was neither morbid nor depressing. This is an uplifting insight into the journey we are all taking and provides the reader with a deeper appreciation for life - beginning, middle and end. The lessons given so freely and honestly are not new, but are definitely worth repeating because we seem to forget them so easily. The gift these two men gave me is one that I will endeavor to hold dear, enabling me to reach my final days with such serenity and acceptance. This book is on my Christmas gift list for all those close to me.
Rating: Summary: lessons in death Review: i would think human being may not be able to express all words in one's mind during their life. but i realized it's wrong after reading this great book. what is unsaid, and what else wisdoms do we need? even if it's just simple and untidy. i know almost all are well-known and easily found while our daily life, and might have taught in our childhood. but i'd never heard it from one who counts his last day. he taught us until the last moment and it still lasts.. "No more need to fight against the life like him. he showed me how to forgive myself..instead. although he collapsed and defeated.. still he won. he knows the way how to be detached from the fundamental fear..death."
