Rating: Summary: heart-wrenching and uplifting Review: What an inspiring story! A younger man takes his last class from his teacher of many years ago, who is dying from a fatal illness. The class is about learning the meaning of life and they have their meetings on Tuesdays. Morrie Schwartz decided that he wasn't going to give up on life, but to live it to the fullest and share his life and love with as many of his friends and acquaintances that he could in the time that was left. Mitch was one of those blessed. When you know you are going to die you learn what is really important in life. It is not what we have been told repeatedly-that to be happy one must have more and more, that money and power would bring us happiness, no...what is important is to be able to love others and to work at helping others and taking an interest in those around you. It is true, but also it can be hard to let your defenses down and just trust in the power of love, but when you do, even if it is for just a short while, the over-whelming feeling of well being in your body and soul is amazing. While I was reading the book I shed a few tears but when I finished I felt blessed and uplifted. The simple life is not so bad when you are surrounded by those you love and who love you.
Rating: Summary: Insipid, presumptuous and intellectually diluted... Review: A good book or a bad book is one which makes you react - the act of reading that book should become a memory - a part of your life. Good and bad are subjective here - if you agree with the book, you call it a good book. If you disagree, you call it a bad book. But books like "Tuesdays with Morrie" are an insult to the written word. They are a collection of sentences that have no right to exist. In a very generous mood, I would even understand Mitch Albom's love for his mentor, but what makes people think that the secret to life lies in other peoples' experiences?I can't wait to forget that I ever read this book...
Rating: Summary: Live the life to the fullest! Review: The book was so insightful, for it really made you think about your life and how you and your behavior is effecting your loved ones everyday. It really opens your eyes to what is really important and how we ignore the most important things the most... one of life's ironies. We leave this world with nothing, yet we strive our lives to get everything... to - leave it behind! Why do we do it... and how we never realize what and why we are doing. It is an eye opener and a must read for everyone... young, old, healthy, weak... we all need to wake up!
Rating: Summary: The Love Of a Mentor Review: What A Sweet Book This One Is, well worth the read. I recommend it for everyone as it fits in so many catagories. Beautiful tribute. I Also recommend: Nightmares Echo is my favorite for now,I know Why The Caged Bird Sings is my favorite of all time, and Meant To Be.
Rating: Summary: Tuesdays With Mitch Review: My wife and I have been married for twenty-eight years. We don't agree on everything. But we both agree that the first Lord of the Rings movie was boring, post-Shire, and we both agree that Tuesdays With Morrie is a waste. Perhaps we're simply not attuned to the nuances of digitized action in the one case. (It isn't the violence per se that we didn't like. We both loved The Last Samurai.) Perhaps we're not attuned to the varieties of human emotion and experience in the case of Tuesdays With Morrie. But I think not. We have raised two boys, we have elderly parents, my father has died. Anyway, we're kind of normal, but obviously we've missed the zeitgeist on Morrie here. Actually, Morrie is perfectly cool. It's Mitch who is so totally annoying. Let me illustrate: Morrie goes on for several pages about his kids and how great they are. This is early in the book. He's clearly in love with life and with his kids. After he's done rhapsodizing about how great his children were and are, Mitch asks, "So would you do it again? Would you have children again?" How can a dolt who isn't even paying attention to this charming guy Morrie be trusted to convey the story? Oh well, I'm happy when a book stays on the best seller list for ten million weeks, since it indicates that a lot of people are enjoying themselves reading it. I wouldn't necessarily post this review except that my secretary just gave my wife a copy of Mitch Albom's new book for Christmas. That's so funny.
Rating: Summary: Thought Provoking and compelling Review: After reading many many books by several empowering authors such as Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dalai Lama, Marianne Williamson, and Tiffany Snow, that I am still reading, my life has opened up to me in such a compelling and wonderful way. This new book is well written, and thought provoking. There are great transforming authors, who shift the consciousness of humankind in a way never known before. Tuesdays with Morrie is one of those.
Rating: Summary: Life's Greatest Lessons Review: This book is basically the outlay of Morrie Schwartz's life philosophies. If I had to consolidate his philosophy into a title, I'd call it Realistic Compassion. Morrie basically preaches, unassumingly, and advises the rest of us to live our lives more fully, more fervently, and to relax our minds and attitudes so that we may love. I really enjoyed this book. Its a feel-good book with a deeper, transferrable point. I truly truly believe that everyone will enjoy this book to a personal degree.
Rating: Summary: Easy to read, but hard to forget Review: Don't be fooled by the small size and easy readibility of this jewel. The lessons to be gleaned from the pages of this little book ought never be forgotten. The importance of life sometimes gets lost in the everyday living of it, but Tuesdays with Morrie drives home the critical need to enjoy every day, every minute that we have. I'll read this one again and again, and will recommend it highly to the fast-paced corporate ladder climbers around me. Mitch Albom has looked into the soul of America and touched her heartstrings with a special kind of music. Bravo!

This book will help you to remember too. Wonderful. Other books I liked: Nightmares Echo,Life of Pi, Time Travelers Wife,Running With Scissors
