Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE! Review: I found this novel to be one of the most moving I have ever read. Mitch Albom is able to make the reader "FEEL". I am anxious to read it again.
Rating: Summary: Moving story Review: I was moved by this real story. The book is full of messages to make me think about myself. It is very simple, heart-warming, thoughtful, beartiful, funny... It did inspire me. I wish I had a professor or mentor like Morrie. This is definitely worth reading. I could take life's greatest lesson because of you, Mitch Albom and of course Morrie. Thank you.
Rating: Summary: Uh, Mitch, what was it Morrie said about money? Review: Great book. Touchy-feely, well-done, etc. There was a fair amount in it about what's really important in life and money wasn't it. Mitch Albom has done a nice job of making plenty with the book. Not quite up there with pocketing door to door UNICEF collections but sort of has that same feel. It would have been really good to have "100% of proceeds to whatever charity etc etc" plastered all over the book. That way poor Morrie would have to keep rolling over and over and over as Mitch shopped for new cars and signed lucrative contracts.
Rating: Summary: Trite Review: An old man bravely facing death tries to pass on meaningful advice to a younger disciple. Unfortunately, the old man, though courageous, is a preachy, pompous windbag, and the younger man is a self-absorbed twit of a hack sportswriter. Maybe it got a lot better toward the end; I quit a little more than halfway through.
Rating: Summary: Recipes for a Full Life Review: I read this book in one day. It's not brilliant literature, but it's not a new-agey touchy feely tearjerker either. Anyone who has ever had a special teacher, or hero, or anyone you've ever looked up to, will appreciate this labor of love. The author receives and records simple but precious pearls of wisdom from a great teacher conducting his last class before he dies.
Rating: Summary: Pure Inspiration Review: The summer after my high school graduation I was wondering why I felt as though something was missing. My view of life had become that of Mitch's, fast paced. In my rush to go on my senior trip and off to college I had forgotten the true meaning of family and friendship. Before leaving for school a dear friend gave me this book. As I began reading, I could not stop. Tuesdays With Morrie portrays the true meaning of life in such clarity that made me want to reach out to people (family and friends) of whom I had not been as close to as I would have liked. This book taught me to open my heart to people I hold dear and to consider dear my 'enemies' as well. It doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, you truly only need to love and to allow yourself to be loved. When ever I feel as though I'm losing touch with the importance of my life, I begin to read this book. Immediately after putting the book down I alway want to call my parents. They are the people closest to me and they are also the people who have made me and will continue to make me who I am yet to become (like Morrie and his father, mother, and step-mother). I do however find it a shame that Morrie did infact die, yet he made his death our inspiration. The lessons taught in this book are beautiful and I hope his book continues to guide me in my trying times. Allow it to guide you through your life, and pass on the book to a loved one.
Rating: Summary: a wonderful and important read Review: a wonderful true story easy to read and enjoy with lots to learn, NOT UNLIKE Signals another wonderful true story by an AIDS patient you will love Signals just book search the writer Joel Rothschild and check out the excerpts
Rating: Summary: Simply Wonderful Review: Everyone wants to learn about life. Morrie was a man who knew more about the world and life's lessons than any other person I can think of. The relationship between Morrie and Mitch is THE definition or a perfect student-mentor relationship. The book is an easy read too, but gripping enough not to be boring. The best way to describe this book is Simply Wonderful.
Rating: Summary: I love this book Review: Hey, life is real, and to me this story is real. Nowadays it's so difficult to find a really satisfying read, but this one is a heart-warming and interesting story. I've read it a couple of times so far, but I know I'll read it several times over by the end of the year. One other book that has truly touched my life, too, and has helped me tremendously as it deals with the real issues in life, is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding & Overcoming Depression" --that's another great read available at Amazon.
Rating: Summary: A Total Reorganization of Priorities Review: EVERYONE should read this book. EVERYONE should have their own copy, so that they can highlight parts that they can read over and over again. This book makes you take a good hard look at yourself, and all of the REALLY important things in your life become crystal clear. I loved this book, and plan on having all of those that I love, read this book.
