Review: Having been disappointed in the last few books in the series, I was delighted to find Certain Prey as engrossing as Sandford's earlier books.

Review: From the start there is no doubt who the bad guys, rather gals, are and what bone chilling murder they do next. You wonder how they will get caught which proves a challenge for the competent Lucas Davenport. Certain Prey will keep you turning the pages and wanting more. Characterization, action and plot all believable, even too real at times. You'll swear you know some of those people. The cleverly disguised killer, Clara Rinker, could even be your next door neighbor! Waiting impatiently for the next Prey.....RLH Houston

Summary: Murder novel? More like bored to death!!
Review: I have read every Prey novel and this one was such a let down. Not enough Lucas Davenport, to much Thelma and Louise. Where was our tough guy Lucas? The one who is sensual, intriguing and smart? Instead all the reader gets is the very boring story of a women who has been treated badly by men who then turns to a murder for hire career. Give me a break!!! A real yawn fest!!! The only humor was the fact that the hit woman teams up with a lady lawyer--to much!! If you have yard work to do that you hate or a chance to read this book----- get out the mower!!!

Summary: Harks back to the humor of Rules of Prey
Review: It seems that Sanford is trying out different styles in his last books. Secret Prey was an old fashioned mystery - very generic, good for the genre but poor for Sanford. I enjoyed Certain Prey immensely as it read as if it was ghosted by Elmore Leonard! It was simply fun rather than truly harrowing as some of his books have been (which isn't necessarily bad). Too bad the TV movie was so awful, it might have expanded Sanford's readership to those unfortunate enough not to have found him.

Review: Having read all the "Prey" books this one is by far the best.I found myself rooting for Clara's great escape to ensure another installment in Sanford's series of Davenport books.The open ended conclusion of "Certain Prey" has me eagerly awaiting the next "Prey".

Review: I always anxiously await for another Lucas Davenport book to arrive - only disappointment I have is when I read it so quickly! Sanford still shows suspense in his stories! I enjoy following the "life" of Davenport and hope Lucas continues in the next books and that he doesn't approach retirement too soon! I did find the character, Carmel Loan, a little awkward - a smart prosecutor getting so deeply sucked into the life of crime didn't seem right. Suddenly having no regard for human life didn't seem to follow. Enjoyed Clara Rinker, but wouldn't expect her to return to Minneapolis any time too soon. Great book! Wish Sandford could write & publish as quick as I can read them! Great summer reading!
