Summary: fantastic
Review: I was diagnosed with stomack reflex syndrome. My physician recommended a higher dose of prilosec. I am a type A and I also have problems digesting foods. A friend of mine let me borrowed the book Eat Right for Your Type, and I started a new diet. After 2 months I don't take any more pills and I last 16 pounds with out trying. One thing I want to know is how can I contact the author Dr. D'Adamo to share with him some of my findings regarding soya products. A new study shows that the intake of soya protein has cause more damage than good to people. I want to know his oppinion regarding this research and also some proof that this research is legitimate. Please, somebody out there let me know. Thanks. An alien from Spain.

Summary: This book does not relate at all to my blood type!!
Review: I am a type O+. This is a fact. As such, this book recommends that I eat red meat, and plenty of it. Yet I hate red meat, have never eaten it (since infancy!), and find that many of his recommendations for Type O's are not the least bit appetizing or appealing. I do, however, enjoy all the foods recommended for Type A's, and have eaten that way for 30 years- vegetables, lentils, fruits, and grains. I believe that your body will tell you what it needs- do you crave milk? You need Calcium. Are you shaking and weak? You need protein and less sugar! Listen to your BODY, not this doctor trying to make a buck, exercise regularly and sleep enough each night, and and you will be as healthy as ever.

Summary: I have been promoting Eat Right 4 Your Type for over 3 yrs
Review: I read this book when it first came out. It has changed my life and my Husbands. I am a B and he is an O he is 51 and I, 49. We are in better physical shape than our 25 year old son who does not follow the diet. My husband and I have been following the diet for about 3 and 1/2 years. I have not ate chicken for that long. (which is poison to a B) We are able to do what we did in our 20's. I still maintain a size 4 and my husband still wears the same size he did when we were teens, we have been married for 32 years this year. We both have a huge amount of energy. We just built our own house. (Physically!) We are able to exersize, ski, anything we want, we have no physical problems. We look at least 10 years younger than we are. People are amazed when we tell our ages. I have such a strong belief in this book that I have not been able to stop talking about it for the past three years. I tell strangers on planes in health food stores at work everywhere. If someone I know has cancer I automatically guess their blood type is most likely an A or AB and I'm always right when I ask. I tell every one I know, about this diet and the book. I was most impressed by the research, it was done scientifically by a microscope it is not just theory. My Mother, Aunt, Husband and several friends follow this diet very closely and my Aunt is almost 80, she parasailed last winter! My mother looks and acts 10 years younger it is amazing. The body seems to function better on what it is supposed to have. I strongly recommend this book, especially to anyone with any type of physical problems, but to anyone who wants to stay heatlthy. In my experience it truly stops the aging process if you follow it.

Summary: A UNIQUE APPROACH TO HEALTHY LIVING - AND IT WORKS!
Review: As you read the pages of this book, you will begin to understand the correlation between the foods we eat and our bood type. I must agree with another reviewer, also Type A, that there are certain foods that I definitely cannot tolerate and ones which considerably lower my energy level. My body has no tolerance for orange juice, and very little tolerance for beef, pork and lamb; therefore, the mainstay of my diet includes chicken, fish, rice and vegetables, and I flourish on these. Unfortunately, I ate red meats, to some degree, for years and never realized how red meat did affect me until I ceased to eat it. The fact that others who share my blood type also experience these same commonalities, is a clear indication of the validity of this book.

The book has been extremely well researched, is filled with some interesting perspectives and contains a wealth of knowledge. It is a fact of truth that we are what we eat, and this book helps explain why this is so - blood type and metabolism play a major role. By following the principles of this book and changing your eating habits on a long-term basis, based on your blood type, you may be pleasantly surprised to find you have restored energy, fewer digestive problems, better sleeping habits and an improved overall sense of well being. Don't miss this book, it is a five star plus!

Summary: Worked for me
Review: I was attracted to Dr. D'Adamo's idea that your blood type affects the functioning of your stomach, and that certain foods can actually make you unwell, and others lead to health. Here's what I found after one year of applying his ideas:

I feel better and lose weight on vegetables, fish and rice. I can't digest milk, so have substituted some, but not a lot of yogurt. I absolutely cannot tolerate hot peppers (D'Adamo says the A type stomach is highly sensitive.) Peppers upset my stomach even though I like spicy dishes. Along with peppers, I am highly sensitive to any food which might be spoiled or contaminated, so I avoid buffets and walk out of any restaurant that looks less than super clean. I definitely cannot drink orange juice. Whole wheat never agreed with me. I lose weight on fish and rice. I gain it back if I eat meat and milk.

So many of the observations Dr. D'Adamo makes about my type (Type A) seem to apply quite strongly to me. This has let me avoid foods that really don't do me much good. I definitely feel much better and have more energy if I don't eat beef, pork or lamb. So I have substituted turkey, chicken, fish and mostly vegetarian dishes and when I stick to that, I feel just great.

The theory behind D'Adamo's book is that certain substances in foods can cause cells to clump and make digestion and metabolism difficult. While this theory is not a proven one, it is interesting. D'Adamo has years of experience in alternative medicine, as did his father. While the scientific basis may be lacking according to the strict rules of proving hypotheses, Dr. D'Adamo has a wealth of empirical information--which is accummulated knowledge from what he observes.

I think this book can make a big difference in your health and it's interesting to try it out. I got a benefit from it, more than from any other diet book, not for the weight loss, but for avoiding certain foods that don't agree with me. There is a bulletin board on the web for people who want to discuss their experiences with the ER4YT diet, should you want more information.

Summary: Excellent, worth a go!!
Review: I have over the years read every diet book dating back to 1870!! yes there was a diet book put out about high protein. I am a lover of good food especially french fruit flans, pastries and whipped cream. I have always craved these foods after a while on every food program I have been on. However, after 2 weeks on this program my cravings have come to a standstill. I am a B type and I think not eating anything wheat has something to do with it. I'm amazed plus have lost nearly 6lbs and I'm not grossly overweight, I have always exercised regularly. Therefore I heartily recommend this eating plan to anyone.

Summary: Try it yourself
Review: Two of us have been following this plan for over 1.5 years. My partner lost about 20 pounds in the first few months, without counting portions or calories, and has maintained his ideal weight without effort. His energy returned to a level not experienced for several years - one of the keys was putting MODERATE amounts of organic beef back into his diet. Eliminating wheat, dairy products and foods with problematic lectins, while emphasizing beneficial foods such as leafy dark-green vegetables also helped. Since he's Type O and I'm Type A, the protein part of our diets differs somewhat, but we've quite easily found ways to cook together. We both noticed much clearer sinuses after just a week. He eliminated asthma symptoms and my allergies improved. I no longer suffer from PMS. I lived with knee problems since childhood, but these have now disappeared, as did the stiffness in my fingers and back in the morning. Digestive problems and stomach aches, a major problem for me since childhood, eased greatly in the first couple of months and are still improving. My complexion cleared and my heart stopped "skipping beats" - I could go on and on.

I have been interested in nutrition and have kept abreast of various schools of thought for the last 25 years. When I first heard of Eat Right I dismissed it as a fad diet that was not based on scientific evidence. Before reading Eat Right I consumed what I believed were "healthy" foods for many years: whole grains, little or no meat, lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, legumes, "good" fats, spring water. Very few additives, prepared or fast foods or medications. However, some foods that were healthy according to the literature and research were healthy for other blood types but not for Type A. When I eliminated these foods and ate more of the beneficial foods I immediately saw results.

I just read most of Live Right 4 Your Type and highly recommend it. Eat Right 4 Your Type was a great introduction, but it's several years old and much research has taken place since then. For someone new to the eating plan, reading both books would be helpful. The information in Live Right is more current, more specific for individuals and a little more technical. Beyond food recommendations, Live Right's information about cortisol and stress was very useful for me.

Read the reviews of people who have actually tried the eating plan, then try it for a month and decide yourself!

Summary: Do it for one month before you knock it !!
Review: I read this book a year ago and have been eating on the plan ever since. As far as I can see the only reviewers against this book have not tried it. The statement that it is just another book recommending the "common sense" diet is incorrect. For a type O for instance, whole grains are NOT recommended and when I removed them from my diet within the space of a week my arthritic pains dissapeared and much of my psoriasis was gone after a month. No more indigestion and at 68 I feel ten years younger. If you buy this book and go to the website and participate in the message board you will find thousands of people who will give it 5 stars!Give this diet one month and you will stay on it for life.

Summary: Over 2 years following ER and still soundly committed to it!
Review: I took in interest in Eat Right For Your Type after having 2 friends in their early 40's pass away from cancer. It made sense to me that there is something that can't be clear cut, across the board good for everyone and so the premise that blood type determines what foods may be good for one's well being and not for another caught my interest. I've been following the Eat Right premise for more than 2 years and feel I am taking responsiblity for maintaining my good health now and for my future. I did not do this for a magic weight loss program, but for a good health and sensible eating formula; I have found that with Eat Right and enjoy good health, a comfortable weight and good body image... plus a whole lot of wonderful support from others who have found this wonderful way of living!
