Rating: Summary: Secrets to a long healthy live uncovered Review: Dr. D'Adamo is definitely onto something here. Being 46 yrs old and struggling with subpar health and excessive weight i tried the book at the recommendation of my doctor. In Feb 1997 i weighted 190 and had BP of 145/95. I was on BP medicine and wanted off. Well now Im off. ER4YT is a fantastic book Ive lost 25lbs BP is 115/75 and I feel better than ever. Thhe book is straight forward and easy to follow. Of course theres the usual 100 pages where the Dr toots his own horn which have no benefit to the reader, but after that its all business. Lots of good recipes and general health info. He even tells the reader what vitamins and herbs to take for each type. This book is a must for everyone. Read it.
Rating: Summary: Feeling Better in just 6 weeks on the Blood Type Diet Review: I'am an A blood type, with many allergies... and over weight. I tried to follow the Zone Diet, but felt I needed a personal trainer to help me set up all the facts and figures... With the Blood Type Diet, I have lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks and my allergies have improved to the point of not taking any medications...Please read this book for the health of it.....
Rating: Summary: In defense of the author Review: I would like to state that the 7/6/97 review by NORRISS fails to mention that lactose intolerance is talked about in detail for blood type B (p. 152). The book is a good read for anyone striving to optimize their overall health and well-being
Rating: Summary: "Eat Right For Your Type" and "The Zone" Review: Dr. D'Adamos book "Eat Right For Your Type" strikes a chord and is a worthwhile book to read.
Dr. Barry Sears' book "The Zone", makes the case for optimizing one's heath with a 40% protein, 30% carbohydrate and 30% fat diet. Dr. Peter D'Adamo's book, "Eat Right For Your Type" ties in nicely with a number of themes presented by Dr. Sears while providing a further distinction of why some people can handle certain foods while others are unable to, based on one's blood type. It is left to the reader's intuitive ability and knowledge to take the information and see what work's optimally for their own particular needs, allergies, etc.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book about a little known subject Review: There will always be people for whom no single dietary or lifestyle recommendation will suffice -such as the reviewer below who didn't think the book applied very well to their own circumstances. But this book goes a long way toward asking some very provocative questions about how we look at science and why a lot of nutrition research over the last 20 years has generated so many conflicting results
Rating: Summary: Worth reading Review: I have suffered from Interstitial Cystitis for years and, on my own, found what foods do and don't aggravate my condition. I bought Dr. D'Adamo's book and turned to my blood type and AMAZING. In the section under foods to "avoid" were the very foods that aggravate my IC condition. I highly recommend this book. No exact amounts of food to measure or keep track of - he informs you what foods are highly beneficial for your blood type and what foods aren't. I highly recommend this book
Rating: Summary: Blood type & dairy products Review: Having skimmed the text for the chapter concerning B+ blood type, I all ready know that this diet will NOT work for me: I am lactose intolerant! (The author recommends a goodly amount of dairy products in the daily diet).
I feel my best when eating a raw foods diet, supplemented with whole grains.
I caution readers to be wary of ANYONE promoting a diet claiming to work for ALL individuals of a certain type, be it blood, ancestry, build, or whatever is fashinable at the moment!!
Rating: Summary: To call it a "Diet Book" almost a disservice Review: This is a book about individuality that just happens to have a dietary component. A very good book, I might add
Rating: Summary: Finally, a book that caters to each of us Review: D'adamo takes a very careful approach to a subject that could be easily qualified as "quackery". His explanation as to why his work deserves the time to read it is outstanding. I could not believe what I was reading ! All the sudden every single diet I tried and failed, and the reasons for it were clear. I started two weeks ago, and hage already changed my lifestyle around this book. I figured I could dedicate one or two weeks, and see what happens... well, I was flabergasted ! within three days all my gastric problems went away, and wihtin a week, I was feeling better than ever and starting to lose unneeded weight... I am a believer
Rating: Summary: A logical approach to staying healthy. Review: The author mixes a little history, some anecdotes, specific diet plans, and a thorough explanation of blood types to make a convincing case for the how and why of healthy eating
based on your blood type. You'll gain an understanding of
the 4 blood types and their link to nutrition and diet. Dr. D'Adamo succeeds in sharing his enthusiasm and knowledge
with the reader. Read it, use it as a reference book, and
leave on the coffee table for the inevitable "what's your
type?" discussion.
