Summary: It works very well, but...
Review: I have lost around 30lbs. on this program. That has put me just a little above my "ideal weight." Also, as an 'O+' I suffered from allergies that are now all but gone. The program works, but I would have liked the author to go more into the science behind his claims. It seems he is merely reporting his observations. His whole premise is that the blood type gene is the only gene out of over 100,000 that is responsible for the characteristics of the body that determine what food one should eat. I think there are other genes that play a role.

Summary: Finally, an eating plan that WORKS !
Review: I was suffering from a severe immune system reaction to the foods I was eating. I have had over 30 years of skin problems and have visited many dermatologists. I also had a life-long weight problem. I had tried every diet known to man (and woman). In January 1998 I started on the ER4YT diet plan for the O blood type. For me, that meant slowly eliminating wheat, sugar and dairy food from my diet, which is also the standard Candida diet. I have also been addicted to sugar, caffeine and bread. With the help of this book and my naturopath, I am feeling 100% better than before. I have lost 25 pounds (I do walk three miles a day!),but it has been easy for me. I hope to lose another 20 pounds or so. I have found through my own experience with this book and the diet, than I can have PLENTY to eat and still lose weight. I plan to make this a life time eating plan. I DID wonder about the intense exercise regimen as excercise had never been my strong point. As my body adjusted and I became more fit, I discovered that I really wanted to get outside and GO! I have even done a bit of jogging in addition to the walking. I have noticed that the allergy symptoms I previously had are much reduced. My energy level is way up. The walking DOES account for some of the that but I am CONVINCED that the change in my diet is also responsible. Recently, I had a sweet dessert after dinner and the next morning I could hardly get up. It has taken three days for my body to recover from that mistake in judgement! I only wish there were more recipes in the book and as some of my choices are still quite limited. I am learning to eat more natural and healthy choices. No more junk food for me. I no longer want it. My cravings are gone. Thank you to my chiropractor, my naturopath and Dr. D'Adamo!!!

Summary: Answered Nagging Questions
Review: I follow Dr. Atkins low-carb way of eating and love the way most of my problems vanished. However, after my initial weight loss, I was stuck on not losing. After reading Dr. D'Adamo's book on blood types, I stopped eating the items on the avoid list for my blood type and I am losing from 1/2 pound to 1 pound a day and feeling much much better. This book is a MUST for people who are looking for solutions to their health problems.

Summary: I HAVE SOME MUCH ENERGY NOW . . .
Review: I tried this diet about 3.5 weeks ago after hearing about it from a friend - right away, my Type O body responded ! By cutting out wheat, especially Italian bread, I immediately lost 5 lbs ! Interestingly enough, my diverticulosis went into almost immediate remission, and I have had only 1 bout with it since, whereas before I would have attacks at least 3X a week - fantastic. I have now lost 13 lbs., am feeling very energetic instead of lethargic at about 4 p.m., and am finding lots of great things to eat. I try to adhere to it about 90 % of the time, and am hoping to lose 25 more lbs. by the Fall of '98. My friends at work are also following it, and are having very good results. . .

Summary: Excellent, life-changing, logical, well-written.
Review: I'm a Type A lupus patient who has been sick (nauseated) almost every day after bkfst for many years. The book said Grape-nuts were a no-no for me as well as bananas. That's what I ate because I thought it was the most healthful. So I tried eating the Type A foods. Wallah, no nausea, and I'm feeling so much better (more energy, less pain) after only 2 wks on this diet. And this morning I stepped on the scales and discovered I'm down 3 lbs. while eating all I want. My physician husband, a Type O, has joined me in this quest to feel better. We were amazed to find that the foods we already knew we were sensitive to were listed under our individual blood types as "avoids!" Bless you, Dr. D'Adamo! I'm ordering a book for my daughter. And I'm making wonderful non-wheat breads, thanks to another Amazon.com book: Easy Bread Making for Special Diets by Nicolette M. Dumke.

Review: To norriss@spectracomp.com

You did yourself a misservice by not reading more carefully. The basic food lists do not take into consideration additional food allergies. This is emphasised in the book. Additionally, if you ate appropriate to your blood type you may be able to reduce your intollerance.

The premise is, as food broken down into simple sugars enters the blood stream, it reacts with the antigens of your particular blood type. If incompatible, the body will treat the molecules as invaders with a process called agglutination. Your food molecules are stuck together in clumps and eliminated or stored in fat cells. You lose the nutrients you thought you were getting and waste your immune system on the food you eat. Basically it's like getting a bad transfusion every time you eat an incompatible food. I can't tell you how logical this sounds to me. I hope you will reconsider your opinion so that you can have the same rewards that I have received just by changing a few of the foods I eat. Yours truly nan

Summary: Has possibilities....difficult to purchasing items in menus
Review: Menus for various blood types should have been designed in using the ingredients within a month. Just to try ingredients is costly. Some ingredients cannot find.

Summary: Great Read!
Review: I love this book! Finally, a "diet" book that truly is about health and eating and not about depriving oneself and forcing oneself to fit into an eating plan that doesn't fit. I have been dealing with having ovarian cancer for over two years, and eating the foods Dr. D'Adamo recommends for my blood type ("O"), is making me feel much better. Although the Type O diet is not the current wisdom for cancer patients, the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. While I'm not claiming that this will cure my cancer by any means, anything that will help me to feel better is great. Also, for Type Os, the Low Carb Cookbook, available through Amazon, has great recipes for us.

Summary: This Eating Strategy Worked for Me
Review: In July I was diagnosed with Adult ADD. I was also almost 20 lbs overweight. One and a half weeks after I tried eating mostly the foods recommended for my blood type I noticed my brain stopped racing and I felt more focused. Not all Adult ADD can be helped with diet but mine certainly was. About 2 months later I was 14 lbs lighter and I didn't diet. I simply mostly ate the recommended foods without being a slave to them. In 6 months I lost 19 lbs and now not only feel good but like the way I look. This book works for me. I now notice what happens to me physically when I eat certain foods. I love clams but recently they had my mind buzzing so I will eat them very sparingly. My weight varies by 2 lbs from day to day but stays in a comfortable range for me with no effort. It has also worked for my cousin who has a different blood type from mine. My Psychologist says eating can't be related to blood type but all I can say is that this book worked for me effortlessly and I recommend it freely to others.

Summary: How can this eating plan work if you can't eat the food???
Review: I first came across this book while surfing the net and the author's ideas and premises sounded interesting and something I wanted to try. Before I took a blood test, I was SURE I was type 'O' (due to my natural cravings, what I like to eat and different eating programs that had worked in the past) - Boy, was I surprised to find I was type 'A' That means VERY little protein and very high carbs - oh, but not just ANY carbohydrates - only NON-WHEAT based ones. Try and eat like THAT for any amount of time!!! I did, and didn't like my choices at all. I quickly decided that while this diet / eating plan might have some merit, it wouldn't work at all if I couldn't stand the food. So I gave it up for something more moderate.
