Rating: Summary: Highly recommend it.!!! Review: I highly recommend the book, and even ordered one as a gift for a friend thru Amazon. I am a type O with a life long addiction to carbohydrates. It was hard at first, but I started losing immediately. I feel great. My stomach never felt better, and my allergies and joint pain are greatly reduced. Read the book and give the plan a fair chance.
Rating: Summary: I question that this book is categorized as non-fiction. Review: As a person with 35 years exerience in immunohematology and red cell serology, I read this book with some interest. Its reading stimulated me to learn more about naturopathic medicine, homeopathy, their respective educational requirements and their procedures and practices. If this book has any redeeming value it may be that it will cause others to do the same and carefully examine the scientific foundations (or lack thereof) upon which these forms of medical practice are based. The author provides an enormous number of recommendations of diet, supplements, types of exercise and life styles as health maintenance measures as well as therapeutic modalities for a broad range of diseases and conditions. A major and obvious flaw is that very few of these recommendations are based upon the scientific procedures and evidence that we grown to honor and respect. The simple controlled, clinical trial under unbiased rules, seems to have taken a holiday for this author: not suprising, because I found this to be true in many other areas of naturopathic medicine which are the roots of his education and experience. In all charity, there are a number of sound recommendations, most of which are common sense. And, there are a number of novel recipes. With regard to fashioning diet in accordance with the ABO blood groups, in my opinion his rationales, which bear upon the anthropolgy of blood group development and the clinical significance of dietary lectins, are flawed and unconvincing. The evidence for his approach, beyond certain tenous physiologic axioms appears to be solely anecdotal and from his practice experience. It seemed that he developed a bias early in that his father, also a naturopath, progressed down the same path. A significant question is: will this book cause any harm? We would hope that the parents of a child with an earache will not delay seeking more traditional medical care while awaiting for the effects of a concoction of olive oil and herbs dripped in the ear. Or, that more traditional care of an inflammed eye will not be evaded while expecting the juice of a freshly sliced tomato placed in the eye to cure the problem. I found the book to be interesting reading; however, as it works its way up the charts, I question that it be categorized as non-fiction.
Rating: Summary: This Is The Only Diet and Health Book You'll Ever Need! Review: This book made more sense with every page I turned. I immediately noticed a difference in the way I (a type A) felt when I stopped eating potatoes, peppers, and tomatoes, which had been a staple in my diet. I must confess, it can be hard to locate some of the grains and breads that a person should eat, unless they live near a large city, but the drive is worth it. I was even amazed to learn that certain herbs that I had been taking were not appropriate for my blood type. Now I know which foods can either nourish and heal my body, or make it more prone to disease.
Rating: Summary: Confirmed what I had found out on my own Review: Interestingly enough, the foods listed as "poison" for my particular blood type are those that I had already stopped eating because I felt terrible after eating them. My husband found that the foods he was to avoid were the same ones that gave him heartburn. Another confirmation. All in all, this book provides a wonderful awareness of what to eat and what to avoid. Of course, like everything, individuals must experiment for themselves, but I've found that most of my experimentation agrees with the book.
Rating: Summary: Errors in book Review: I have only glanced at a friends copy, but that was all it took to discover that either A) the book is worthless, or B) the book is badly written. I am a gardener and seed saver so I have to know which species my veggies are so I won't get accidental crosses. The writer advises one type to eat turnips, but not chinese cabbage(or vice-versa). They are the same plant species, just different strains. Believe me, they cross, I have grown seed of crosses between the two, can I eat them or not? He advises type O to avoid cabbage, brussels sprouts and one other cabbage type plant, but says to eat kale, broccoli and collards. Again the same plant species. He advises one type to avoid solanacea, listing some as okay and others as not. All this done without any explanation. Do some solanacea species contain less solanine? I think the author better learn something about plants.
Rating: Summary: The skeptics haven't even tried it! Review: You'll notice in the following posts that the people who give this book 1 star haven't even tried the plan! Incredible! The proofs in the doing folks, get a clue! I'm a total skeptic UNTIL I can prove something to myself, and after 5 months on the plan my doc tells me I'm in the best shape ever. Can't wait for his Live Right for your Type due out in January!!!

Rating: Summary: Thank you Dr. D'Adamo. Review: For 20 years I had been trying to lose the same 30 pounds. I had been steadily decreasing the amount of fat in my diet and yet I was actually gaining weight. Now I am following Dr. D'Adamo's plan for my blood type and finally I have lost those extra pounds. This is not a difficult diet to stay on. I would recommend this for anyone who is not losing weight on the low-fat diets.
Rating: Summary: A very interesting concept about blood types and health. Review: I found the information in this book very interesting as it relates to health not diet. My mother (type A) died of breast cancer and my sister and I (both type A's) are trying to find ways to reduce our risk. I would like to know if any readers had success with the health idea rather than the diet aspect of the information.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I have following my blood type (O) diet and it has improved my health considerably. I thank God for the information in this book and that I decided to read it before making any judgments. If I had only looked at the food list for my blood type without understanding the science behind it, I might not have thought there was anything to it. However, after reading the book, so much about diet and health has become clear. And the proof is in the pudding, not only do I feel better but my medical tests show that my condition is stabilizing. Read the book, follow Dr. D'Adamo's recommendations, and see for yourself.
