Rating: Summary: Thank you Dr. D'Adamo! Review: I dunno about all the criticisms of this book by medical professionals. I just know that I suffered with severe digestive problems until this book revealed to me the relationship between blood type "O" and an intolerance to wheat and other grains. (remember the nutritionalists' push for pasta in the 80's-90's?) Goodbye nightly heatpad to the stomach after I started this program...By the way, I found this out at age 47, after years of consulting traditional doctors and getting varied responses from "you just have a bad gut like your grandmother" to "you are overweight, and you can expect problems." THANK YOU DR. D'ADAMO for setting me straight and showing me how to get better...
Rating: Summary: An insightful correlation of Blood type to various foods Review: Dr. D'adamo puts forward a theory that a person's blood-type is the key as to what his diet should be. My husband and I have followed the recommended guidelines for our blood-types for four months. My husband is an O-- and I am an AB+. We are both very pleased to find that we have more energy and as an added bonus have each lost 6-8 lbs. For the last few years I had thought that I was preparing healthy foods for my family by severely restricting red meat and using wheat and other grains as a main stay. Now that my husband is eating an "O" diet, he has renewed vitality and is feeling great. There are foods that we both can eat such as salmon and pinto beans that are beneficial for both of us. It is an easy adjustment to incorporate beneficial foods into our diet. The book also contains interesting case studies and support for Dr. D'Adamo's findings. It really makes sense. I've purchased several books so far for family and friends and each person has reported positive results. This book is informative and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: I love the book but have some questions... Review: I have been on the eat right for your type diet for a week and am feeling really good about it. I am a type B and have found that through the years I have generally been eating the right foods - my favourites are cooked vegetables with some meat in it. I do have some questions and would like to know if there is a site I can go to with more info. After reading the book, I now know that wheat and buckwheat are main foods that encourage weight gain. I have since kept away from all wheat products but I am confused about the use of white flour. The book says white flour is a neutral food and that I can eat it - but doesn't white flour come from wheat? Can someone please explain this to me. Also, semolina pasta is a neutral food - I just want to make sure that the "usual" pasta (spaghetti, macaroni, etc.) that names its main ingredient as semolina flour is that and only that - without any other wheat in it. Please help. thanks in advance
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Another proof that we are wonderfully made. Review: In a continual effort to pursue personal health habits, I've determined what really works for me; however, my conclusions are not always beneficial to others. In fact, they can be detrimental. D'Adamo's insight brings clarity and freedom. No more "one size fits all" diet and exercise plans. Our bodies already know what's best, and it's different but comfortably attainable for each individual. Well done!
Rating: Summary: Try it - you'll be so glad you did! Review: Just learning that the premise of this book was that it was obvious that the same diet and same exercise regimen don't work the same for everyone was enough to get me to buy it. I was very pleased when I first read my diet (Type B), as it allowed me many foods I love - especially dairy - and forbade me many foods I hate! The weight loss and energy gain have been significant, my allergic reactions have decreased greatly, and my new immunity to communicable diseases is incredible! I sang the book's praises to many of my friends, and have compiled short synopses of the different blood types' menus for them. The results so far: One friend (Type A blood) has had to reduce her intake of injectable insulin for the first time in a decade; another friend cancelled an endoscopy for her child when, after a week on his blood type's diet, his digestive problems disappeared; another has finally gained proof that flu shots are more dangerous for her than catching the flu! My doctor, when I told her about the diets, was not skeptical, but rather very encouraging in the face of my progress. Weight loss is slow but steady, and energy gain is incredible.
Rating: Summary: empowering Review: This book provides a very logical and empowering way to make sense of, and take control of your health. I am 24, and I needed this book/information 25 years ago. It probably would have saved me a lot of extra weight and health issues in my life. I have recommeded this book to literally everyone I come in contact with, and have worked with my family members on their diet issues. I just had my 2 yr old son tested for his blood type. He was born with a lot of respiratory problems. I plan on following this guide to set up a basis of good nutrition and health for him, early enough that it becomes a learned practice that he can use throughout his life. It is most certainly clear that ample research has been done on this subject by the author and his father. I am just very surprised that this concept was not researched eons ago. It is so logical. I recommend that everyone that is even in the least concerned with their health...GET THIS BOOK!! Then loan it to everyone that doesnt have it. God Bless & Good Health to you, Aimee Swenson and son Chanei
Rating: Summary: A lifesaver, with a gentle, supportive tone. Review: This book's gentle, supportive tone encourages an open mind. I learned (and later experienced) things from it I have not come across anywhere else in 30 years of interest & reading on the subject. It also tied together formerly puzzling loose ends for me. I'm very grateful!
Rating: Summary: The diet really worked for both me and my husband. Review: I think this eating program is like most: it will really work for some people and not for others. All the diet and supplement suggestions really made a difference in my health, but I experimented and found what worked for me. There are a few foods that he lists as beneficial or neutral that I discovered I must avoid. If you are not feeling well, why not try it for a few months? It can't hurt. Remember, no book can replace listening to your own body.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the reader's time Review: According to this book everyone in a specific blood type should eat or avoid specific foods. What a bunch of rubish!
Rating: Summary: Finally, a book on what seems obvious after reading it. Review: This book has been an answer to at least two of my problems, reduction of arthritic pain, and gastorintestinal distress, that is flatulence, belching, heart burn at times, feeling stuffed, and etc. After trying about 70%-80% of the diet for 8 weeks I felt better and the above mention problems were the most noticable. As a Type O I started eating beef again after being off of it and pork for 3 years, and my energy level was noticably improved. The rationale for what to eat or not eat seems to make sense I have lost 10lbs. but was not overly fat, 185-190 at 6'2" am now down to 175-185. But I feel better and was not really trying to loose weight. The book is about as clearing written,as any that I have ever read on such a complex subject. I seldom read a book thru, but I did this one. Well, maybe not all of the Type B and AB chapters, because my wife is A and I'm an O, but we read all of the general information and use it for reference. A must reading for anyone interested in natural health and taking charge of their health. Yes a doctor and hospitals can advise and run test and identify problems, but it seems should be up to the individual to take charge and choose a solution. I after reading ER4YT I feel that I can make more informed decisions.
