Rating: Summary: This book is a life changer. Review: How great to finally find something that works for me! I am blood type A but have been eating all the things that I have now learned are "poison" to my system. After a month of eating 95% Beneficial and Neutral foods I have lost weight, am no longer congested (which is saying something for an Ohioan), have had no digestive problems, and have overall better physical and emotional health. I am blown away by how much better I, and friends also following the diet, have felt in such a short time. I highly recommend this book. My refrigerator and cupboards look totally different than they used to and it did take some adjustment on my part but it is well worth it and now I don't even miss the junk I was eating. Give the diet 2 weeks then try to prove me wrong!
Rating: Summary: Rewarding dietary breakthrough. Review: Having had my share of medical problems thru the years I have become familiar with a quantity of medical research. My problems being based around cardio vascular My interests have been in that area plus the associated medical areas such as diabetes (turned adult type II 5 years ago) and weight loss. I am still in the process of becoming trully correct on my type A plan but already I note a lowering of my blood sugar count. For anyone suffering any of todays countless maladies including overweight I recommend this book as a part of your plans. Glenn D. Lockhart g.b.lockhart@juno.com

Rating: Summary: This is the only way! Review: I'm a type A and after reading about the diet and the personality type , it's no wonder why I had the problems I did . I've basically been eating the wrong foods all my life. I've lost the first 20 pounds by by doing colonic thearpy to clear up the damage that has been caused by eating the wrong foods. Then I lost the next 10 pounds when this book was recommended by my colonic therapist. This book made alot of sense to me.I'ts basic chemistry. When you mix chemicals that don't align with each other the reaction can be fatal. When you mix chemistries that complement each other, the outcome is successful. That is pretty easy to understand. I'm so grateful for the D'Adamos research. I just want to say to all those intellectual skeptics that need everything documented in medical books. The proof is in the pudding! If something works, who gives a damn. This book is the answer. Your body knows that as much as mine but you have to turn off your thinking to be able to hear. Thank you D'Adamos for your revolutionary discovery!
Rating: Summary: Not a summary! Review: Why don't you offer me the book. I don't want an audio tape. I want to know the cost of the real honest to goodness book with pages! Thank you GMS
Rating: Summary: This book is giving me sensible answers. Review: I'm O Positive. I'm from a family of five, FOUR of whom have been cursed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. I'm one of the two who survive. We are a "cluster". In the thirty years since the first family member was diagnosed, there has been ZERO interest from the established medical community in studying WHY this family is ending up with this disease. No medically oriented health professionals will venture a guess as to why our family has this chronic illness. But Dr. D'Adamo has pointed the way, and given the clues that fit our situation. After trying his diet, I could see a difference in how I felt after just a few days, and the lymph node swellings were greatly reduced. We are not ignorant people, and we know all about scientific method, but it's too slow, and we're desperate. Dr. D'Adamo's work gives more hope, and something positive to do about diet, which is PART of the cancer problem. I'm always amazed at how fast the arrogant, morally indignant, profession-protecting profit-oriented medical establishment in the cancer industry rush to call anything else "bunk". Are they threatened? Well, I'm willing to experiment, and I see no danger, and a lot of good sense and questions answered for our family in Dr.Peter J. D'Adamo's books.
Rating: Summary: Excellent easy to follow plan, opened eyes/dropped pounds. Review: My mother got me started on this after she went through Menopause energy problems, she started this, gained energy and lost weight. So I decided to change my life. I'm type O, read the book, found replacements for Wheat/Gluten at Natural Food stores, made my first bread using Brown Rice flour (which tasted GREAT) and have dropped 45+ lbs. I needed a plan to follow, this changed my life. Thank you so much for this book, I am energized and feel and look better than I have in years. I've turned into a carnivore label reading junkie. Just ordered the Cook Book, looking forward to more recepies.
Rating: Summary: This book is garbage Review: It's too bad there isn't a choice of "no stars" to review books here, that is the rating this book merits. It's unfortunate to see so many people getting sucked into a diet fad that is based on no documented research, merely speculation of a naturopathic doctor with highly questionable academic credentials. The theory is nonsense, and "Dr." D'Adamo must change it regularly as additional actual scientific evidence emerges further proving his theories are bunk. Avoid this book if you are concerned about your health. It is pure fantasy.
Rating: Summary: Eat Right... and STAY AWAY from this book! Review: As others have noted (January 7, 1999), there's no science behind D'Adamo's contention about blood types being associated with particular dietary needs. I am a student at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, one of the few medical schools in the country with an extensive curriculum in clinical nutrition, and I have confirmed with my instructors (MD's) that the assertions in this book are groundless. Sadly, most physicians are grossly deficient in their knowledge of nutrition (e.g. the MD who recommended D'Adamo's book to a previous reviewer). This deficiency stems largely from a lack of formal instruction in the subject (see New York Times, 4/7/92, Eating Well by Marian Buros). If you really want to improve your health and your diet, I refer you to "Eat Right, Lose Weight: 7 Simple Steps" (Oxmoor House). Contrary to the title of this book, it describes a comprehensive approach to nutritional health suited for everyone, even those not in need of losing weight. And unlike D'Adamo's book, this book is grounded in science and based on years of medical practice at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, AL. (The recipies contributed by Cooking Light at the end of this book unfortunately leave a lot to be desired.) I have convinced my father not to follow D'Adamo's advice, and I hope I might have also convinced you.
