Rating: Summary: Brilliant, succinctly written,&laid out for easy reference. Review: Brilliant work!I am A+ and have been a vegetarian for 7 years. After major surgery last year, I gained 20lbs. in 6 weeks and a gradual 10 more pounds, over the winter. My M.D. said it was due to my age. I immediately sought out a new doctor, discovering a naturopath, whose first question of me was,"What is your blood type?". The treatment followed that for "A"type blood, and a number of annoying ailments subsided, but no weight loss. As of May 1,'99, I began eating according to the "highly beneficial" sections and to date, have lost 8-10lbs. I have more vitality, better digestion and a greater sense of well being. I have a vegetarian friend, who was overweight and "O" type. She adopted the "O"type "highly beneficial" diet and has lost 30lbs. I am tremendously impressed!
Rating: Summary: Trust it...but with a grain of salt Review: I have been reading this book which a friend has had great success with (she is an O.) I am very intrieged and just the little that I've done thus far(I'm an A; but thought I was a B because of my poor eating habits and cravings!), I have noticed a difference. I skimmed through the some 170 other reviews- especially the negative ones. The thing that I find interesting is how many people did not apporve because of lack of research or evidence. There is A LOT of things that medical science can not prove and that naturalistic remedies "just seem to help". With any diet for weight or health purposes there are going to be things that work for one and not the other; that is when one must be a mature adult and compromise for what is right for their specific body; but all in all, I think this is a tremendouly great start to get people on the right track for their bodies health!
Rating: Summary: Why is it that the Type O's get the best results? Review: It seems that most of the people in the case studies that had good results were the Type O's. Well, I am a type A and this didn't work for me at all. I followed it to the T and ended making myself a basket case. My triglycerides shot up and my HDL went down. My blood pressure skyrocketed and I felt like the world was going to cave in on me. I have followed a low carbohydrate version for the Type A and am doing much better. I eat chicken and turkey most of the time and I have cut out dairy. Now all my levels are normal. It just goes to show that this diet doesn't work for everyone.
Rating: Summary: results matter ! Review: This book has totally changed my attitude toward food . It has actually conditioned me to care about what goes into my body.I can see and feel results hence the proof is in the pudding for me, I challenge anyone else to do the same.It works.
Rating: Summary: The answer to all my prayers! Review: If you are reading this, you must know that I am just one of over 150 people who have taken the time to comment on this extraordinary book. The reason for this is simple, the diet works. The idea that two people can eat the same food and gain or loose the same amout of fat is as strange to me now as saying my mother and I like the same music. I have always prayed for a diet solution that would help me pick and choose the foods that would help control my weight and keep me healthy. I love the way the book is written as well. It is easy to read at a glance especially after reading it once through from the beginning. I have lost a total of thirty pounds. I went from a size 16 to a size 6 in 6 months. I was so shocked at first to see how much fat the book said that I should eat. I now realize that it is kind of like a bank account-if you don't put fat into your body, it won't let you take any fat out of your body. The book explains what type of fat and other foods will be right for you or any friends or family members that you know that have health or weight problems. Yes, the book makes a great gift without saying, "you need to loose weight". It talks a lot about the specific foods that can help with all sorts of health problems. Thank you authors for such a great book!
Rating: Summary: The answer to all my prayers Review: When I picked up this book I thought to myself "yeah, right", but reading on I remembered that a few years ago a food allergist had told me to stop eating various foods, that my body didn't like them and was reacting with skin, back and temperament problems. I didn't really believe her, and thought that it was all quackery, but to appease her I did stop wheat, potatoes, corn and several other foods. I did feel better, but soon forgot her message. On reading "Eat right" I found that everything my allergist said I was allergic to, Peter D'Adamo had confirmed when he stipulated the the food for the "o" type blood group. Since completely stopping all forms of wheat, potatoes and dairy products and eating red meat, fish and chicken, my weight loss has been incredible. I eat as much as I like, still drink beer, sleep very well, have fewer head-aches, more energy and generally feel great. People remark on how much slimmer I am and how well I look, good news to me. I've exercised myself to a frazzle in the past to lose weight, got the tendonitis to prove it, done this diet and that, weight always comes back, but I think that this time I'm on a winner, as I'm not dieting, I'm enjoying myself, and I'm really happy. My only complaint is that a lot of the alternative foods are not available, or in most cases even heard of in Australia, I'd like to talk to Peter D'Adamo about that.
Rating: Summary: Easy to understand, Review: Ever wonder why you gain weight eating the same as someone who is slender? This easy to understand book will give you the reasons, just by knowing your blood type. Every one is different and should be consuming different foods! Now I understand, Thanks , Susan
Rating: Summary: This isn't just a diet - it's a great way to live! Review: I never thought I'd be flaky enough to rave about a diet plan, but after seeing one of my colleagues drop ten pounds practically overnight, I had to give this a try. I wasn't terribly heavy, but in three weeks I dropped the eight pounds that have followed me since I turned forty (effortlessly!), my skin has cleared, and I don't fall asleep on the sofa at 10:00 every night. My husband and I are both Type O, which means lots of red meat, fish, fruits and vegetables. I don't force him to comply with the diet, but since I cook dinner every night... He didn't need to lose weight, but has suffered with clinical depression for years, and I see a definite lightening of his mood. I don't want to lose more weight (size 6 is loose and my bones are too big for size 4) so I've worked hard to get more calories into our diet, but this is the way I want to eat from now on!
Rating: Summary: Excellent, Informative Book, Review: This book helped me identify specific ailments I had always had, but in the past I never seemed to get a breakthrough into my personal nutritional needs. Great book! Easy to Read! Easy to Live By!
Rating: Summary: It sounds cliched, but this book changed my life!!! Review: I've been on the Eat Right for Your Type diet since 1997, with fantastic health and weight loss results. The science behind the theory is well-researched and clearly explained, and the diet itself is very easy to follow. There is nothing to weigh and measure, no calories to count. All you need to do is eat the foods that are compatible with your blood type, and avoid those that are not. I've lost 35 lbs so far and feel great eating a diet that feels to me like discovering a key to the door of good health. I highly recommend this book!
