Rating: Summary: This is complete nonsense Review: Does anyone really believe, that nature intended us to run around with a complicated long list of foods to avoid and what to eat according to our blood type ? It makes sense to avoid certain types of food like dairy and meat and to increase veggies and fruits. But such an arbritary list, different for each blood type is just humbug. I changed my diet a couple of years ago to a more common sense approach. I dramatically increased my fruit intake, especially eating a lot of oranges and bananas. My health has improved dramatically. And now this guy is telling me to avoid these foods? There is a law, that science is based on. It states that the least astonishing and simplest explanation for a given phenomenon is also the most likely. A mysterious list of foods to eat and avoid varying with blood type certainly does not qualify! When is the next guy coming along writing a book titled: Eat right for your zodiacal sign ?
Rating: Summary: From a Type A .... Review: This diet has completely changed me inside and out! I started this diet about 4 months ago and was diagnosed shortly after with Polycystic Ovarian Disease. So I knew I had to get serious about my health and weight. Well I am pleased to say now that I have lost 25 pounds and have about 5 more to go! I have seen a huge improvement in my health as well. I truly believe that this is the diet everyone should use! One day the world and doctors will realize this! Thanks Dr. Adamo!
Rating: Summary: I've lost 20 lbs. effortlessly Review: This is liveable. My bible and I will enter the new millennium gas-free. I've been on this new lifestyle since Apr 99 and now a size 4. Try it- what do you have to lose?
Rating: Summary: Excellent, but was something forgotten? Review: The entire program reinforces the preferences I seem to have when making dietary choices. How wonderful to have the reasoning behind this and the additional suggestions. As a vegetarian Type A, why no mention of "tuna"? Can it be included, or is it to be avoided?
Rating: Summary: Doctor, you saved my life! Review: Being a type A with Hepatitis C I was in very bad shape. This diet has given me my health back. Don't pay any attention to the "educated health professional" skeptics who are the same types who swore the earth was flat according to "accepted scientific methods" This diet works for those who are not too lazy to stick to it. My hat is off to the good doctor and his father who have dedicated their lives to discovering this life altering information. One day science will back up every page of this book. I will benefit from it now, not wait until a bunch of egghead stuffed shirts finally verify that it works. What if Columbus waited until the world admitted the world was not flat? If a type A can stick to this diet anybody can.
Rating: Summary: Not just another fad... Review: This book explains how eating according to your physiological makeup can benefit your overall health - not just temporary weight loss. The theory is explained in detail with specific medical correlations between idea and fact. Fascinating, honest and somewhat easy to read.
Rating: Summary: FINALLY SOMETHING THAT MAKES SENSE! Review: I AM AN EDUCATED AND INTELLIGENT PERSON WHO HAS SPENT A LOT OF TIME OVER THE YEARS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY MY HUSBAND AND I COULDN'T EAT THE SAME AND BOTH FEEL WELL. THAT HAS NOW BEEN CLEARED UP HE'S AN O AND I AM AN A ; SO ARE ALL THREE OF OUR CHILDREN. WE STUCK TO THE PLAN INCLUDING THE CHILDREN AND HAD SOME FACINATING RESULTS .(SIX WEEKS SO FAR) OUR TWO OLDEST CHILDREN ARE POSTER CHILDREN FOR RITALIN WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRASTICALLY LOWER BOTH OF THEIR DOSES AND THEY ARE NO LONGER SCREAMING ABOUT WANTING JUNK FOOD LIKE THEY DID IN THE BEGINNING. MY HUSBAND THE LONELY TYPE O IN THE FAMILY HAS MUCH MORE ENERGY AND HIS MOODS HAVE SEEMED TO STABILIZE. MY SELF I HAVE BEEN A VERY BRITLE HYPO-GLYCEMIC SINCE PUBERTY AND NOW HAVE FEWER EPISODES OF MOODINESS SHAKES ETC. WE ALL FEEL AND LOOK MUCH BETTER. I WAS EVEN ABLE TO QUIT SMOKING AFTER TRYING EVERYTHING ELSE .I JUST FLAT LOST THE TASTE AND CRAVING FOR IT. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH DR. D'ADAMO!
Rating: Summary: Health Concerns in Following the Blood Type Diet Review: I came away from reading Dr. D'Adamo's book, "Eat Right For Your Blood Type", feeling very enthused and eager to get started on the plan. The theory makes much sense, and, as explained in the book, is based on very extensive and meticulous research. However, I think it's a real disservice to present this theory as a simple "one plan fits all" type thing. There are so many variations in people's personal health situations within each group, and these definitely need to be addressed on a much more specific basis, I feel. Just today, for example, new information came out that a study has shown that people who eat more yogurt don't have as much coughing and deep congestion from colds/flu etc as non-yogurt-eaters do. What does this mean for me as a type O? Do I still stay away from the yogurt, as a dairy product that is not good for my system, or might yogurt somehow be beneficial for O's as well, in regards to helping decrease congestion? And what about a type O who has problems with estrogen-related breast cysts? Won't the increased estrogen effects , from the high meat intake(with all of its natural fat-even in lean cuts) encourage more cyst formation? My sister, as a type A wanting to lose weight, embraced the A diet with great enthusiasm and much care, at the author's statements that following the correct diet for one's blood type would help to stabilize a weight problem. Even with the careful limitations she placed upon herself about quantities etc, she's been unable to lose weight, and says she was much more successful at losing on a type O diet! In my own case, I am concerned about the possible harmful effects of the high protein intake, as a type O with slight kidney deterioration, since studies have shown that a high protein diet can be harmful to the kidneys. I'm sure many other readers of Dr. D'Adamo's book have numerous questions and concerns too. And who do we turn to, medically, that is well enough acquainted with Dr. D'Adamo's theory, to be able to give care and guidance that is good and valid (based on their intimate knowledge of the theory)? In most cases, it would probably be naturopathic doctors, but I've found that, even though they often know of the theory, most are just not well acquainted with it. It just seems to me that Dr. D'Adamo needs to address many more specifics for his readers, regarding health concerns/problems in relation to the blood type diets. And, as a real service and concern for his readers, couldn't he provide a list of doctors in various areas of the U.S. who are well-acquainted with his theory, --the same way that certain other doctors like Dr. Whitaker, who publishes a health newsletter, provide names of doctors throughout the U.S. who support and are knowledgeable about their theories. I do hope a follow-up book by Dr. D'Adamo, with alot more specific health information for the followers of his blood type diet, is in the plans ! Diane Kurt
Rating: Summary: How to feel better by eating the right foods Review: This book was so interesting. I went to a 'way out' MD years ago who told me not to eat many of the foods I was eating. I did feel a lot better but gradually over the years I started to eat them again. D'Adamo, in this book, pinpointed exactly those same foods - I was astounded! So again, I have eliminated those foods from my diet, and I feel great - a lot more energy, losing weight, my skin is glowing - and back and knee problems have cleared up - I am a convert to this way of eating because it is so beneficial. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Better Health Review: My general health was very good before reading this book, so when a friend recommended reading it, I was a bit skeptical; but after following the diet for my type for the past month, I have to admit that I have more energy and that I am happier and that I sleep better at night. It's well worth the price.
