Rating: Summary: Knowledge, Common sense, and it WORKS Review: First, Dr. D'Adamo is a naturopathic physician, among whatever other creditials he may have. His knowledge in this field is, in my opinion, light years ahead of standard "doctors", "physicians", "dietitians", and "nutritionists". I have tried all my life to aquire good health and to loose weight. I tried all of the above mentioned "persons" written information and techniques you can imagine, and nothing happened but my health getting worse. "Eat Right 4 Your Type", in combination with another great book, "Living Health", provided the key to the good health I've been looking for all my life. This book has information about the foods that are good for you, ones that are bad for your health, the ones that make you loose or gain weight, what can cause and prevent disease, and most importantly, the information is correct. Everything I tried that is in the book, worked when nothing else ever did. Also, this book appeals to one's common sense. I have no doubt this is NOT a gimmack or a "fad", as so many other books are. Thanks to Dr. D'Adamo.
Rating: Summary: for the vegetarian below Review: For the vegetarian below: You may be a vegetarian, but you have to read the book to find out if the vegetarian way of eating is right for you. If you are blood type O then the vegetarian diet will not work for you. However if you are blood type A, you will be in heaven. Just read the book and you'll understand.
Rating: Summary: A QUESTION : Does this have anything for Vegetarians ? Review: Most of these diet books like high protein etc do not have anything for Vegetarians. Does this one have anything for vegetarians like me ?Thanks,
Rating: Summary: Good guideline-but not a bible Review: "~A diabetic friend-Type O-recommened this to me when he said he has been able to cut his insulin by a 3rd. His doctor approves."~ vegetables. Avoiding dairy seems to be the biggest help.
Rating: Summary: this diet is not for those on a budget Review: this book is very helpful explaining why some diets work for some people but, not others. i know one person who can eat big macs with impunity; but this person's sibling eats the same way and the same amount and is overweight. the former is a type o; the latter type a. many people would like to try the blood type diet. what the author recommends is unrealistically expensive. example: spelt bread $5.00, almond butter $7.69. i am a mom with two kids and a limited budget.(both kids have two different completely blood types) this book would be helpful if it had an addendum, say, blood type diets on a budget. thanks. i hope readers out there have ideas.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ - IT'S VERY HELPFUL Review: Those of you who have tried everything, I must say this book will be your last resort. Please do not listen to reviews as the following Mr. Tennison's. He obviously did not even READ this book, let alone follow the food for his blood type. Skeptics can belittle this book over and over, but the truth remains in results. I DID NOT feel the least bit sick, as Miss Thompson stated. I ate alot, I just ate the foods that were specified for my type and I've lost 14 pounds in 2 months. I went from a size 8 to a 4. If you read through all reviews, you'll only notice those who "bash" this way of life are those who won't even try it. It's their loss.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: It was not just a "diet book," but an explanation of the history of human evolution and why our body chemestries differ. The diets are not so much traditional weight loss diets but more what to eat to be healthy. I feel very good on the foods he suggested for my type! I was referred to this book by rehab therapists at a nearby hospital, and they all follow it too!
Rating: Summary: Type O and loving it Review: When I stared on the ER4YT diet I was up to 237lbs. I am now down to 190 and eating like a horse. The weight came off in only 5 months and I have maintained 190-195lbs with no problem. I feel great and hope anyone who wants to eat healthier and lose weight will read this book.
Rating: Summary: Eat Right for You Type: The Individualized Diet, etc. Review: Dr. D'Amato's opinions and research is not backed up with proper medical research and statistics. I don't know where he got some of his material! For example: "O" refers to the Rhesus antigen - not "old," as he states! Most high school and/or freshman college student know better! Where did he graduate from college and medical school?
Rating: Summary: Not Worth It Review: I bought the book shortly after a friend of mine recommended it. I know a lot about nutrition and found many faults in the diet. I believe it can help you lose weight at first, but it is not a long-term solution. I went ahead and tried it, and about a week later I suddenly went from very energetic to sluggish. I was also feeling sick. When I went to visit my friend, who happens to be a nautropathic doctor, he figured out that I was actually starving myself. I followed the book down to the last detail, but because I was denying myself so many types of food, my body took offense. I cannot recommend this diet. Of course, I do agree that nothing can work for everybody, and I could just be a rare case. My advice, do what works for you, but I would never go back.
