Summary: Highly Recommend
Review: I highly recommend this book. I have read numerous different diet books but never have tried them because they seemed so ridiculous. This book has a very logical approach backed by research. It makes perfect sense why some people do so well on one diet while others do miserably. My entire family is following the diet and we feel much better. More energy, fewer digestive complaints and definately less irritable. I can definately tell when I've eaten something that is on my 'avoid' list.

Summary: My body is a little stronger now(!?!)
Review: I've followed this diet for the B blood type for 2-1/2 years now (I'm 29) with wonderful results. I started in January 1998 (while living in North Carolina), and within 2 weeks the perpetually dry skin on my hands cleared up for good; within a month, my achy knees stopped aching almost completely when ascending/descending stairs and hills (I'd had that condition for years); within 1 or 2 months, a strange ache in my lower back went away; plus, I recently got my hair cut by a woman who hadn't cut my hair in 5 years, and she persisted in saying that my hair's consistency was better (though I haven't used any special products) -- and she asked if I'd changed my diet at all(!).

My motivation in the first place was being told at age 25 by a neurologist that I had a 60% chance of developing MS (after having partial blindness in one eye for several months, from optic neuritis), because an MRI showed "multiple deep white matter foci most suggestive of multiple sclerosis" on my brain --which might explain the formerly bad knees. Anyway, the book says that B's tend toward autoimmune diseases like MS, and that information gave it enough credibility for me to try it.

So, I had to drastically change my diet to try this plan -- I gave up (and continue to avoid) tomato, corn, shellfish, and chicken products (among others), plus I had to replace my beloved Taco Bell bean burrito (which I had almost every day for lunch for quite awhile) with soft tacos! I've never felt better, and I thank God for this miracle.

Summary: It Works
Review: I am a type O and have been doing the Dr. Atkins diet. Of course it has been working for me (lost 30 lbs in 90 days) being a protein based diet. I was still experiencing some digestive problems and notice some of the things I really enjoyed are on the avoid list (pork). It was interesting to find many foods I have always avoided for some reason are on the avoid lists- American Cheese, Ricotta, Ice Cream, Peanuts, Coconut, Oranges. Since I have made the change to a protein based diet, I can actually stay up until 10 or 11 at night! I have energy to walk my dogs, clean my house and keep up after my kid! Even after an 8-10 hour day at work! I have always been a very physical person, I love to sweat and work hard. I was surprised to learn that I was made for that kind of activity. Listen to your body, it is telling you what to eat and what to do. Tune in!

Summary: In 15 weeks I've lost 20 pounds with this diet!
Review: I reviewed this book earler this summer, when I had just started following this plan. At that time I thought it was working well. The proof is in the pudding here (so to speak) and after following this plan (in conjunction with the False Fat Diet plan, which is quite similar) I have lost 20 pounds.

This diet is easy for me to follow. As a Type O I have cut wheat and dairy out altogether, buy organic meats, eat lots of fruits and veges, nuts and seeds and get reasonable amounts of exercise.

It might be hard to make the shift to this way of eating at first (I have to say I still miss pizza!) but the benefits are tremendous. I don't limit the amounts that I eat, I don't have to weigh or measure or count points or carbs or calories. I just eat normal meals like a normal person, only I don't eat things that my body reacts badly to. If you're willing to make some changes in the way you eat, this plan can really work for you. Feel free to email me if you have specific questions about how this works. And good luck!

Summary: Got me headed in the right direction
Review: I recall reading a number of contradictory reviews of this book when I purchased it. I am the daughter of a Registered Nurse and this book has definitely helped me. I never could figure out how to lose the fat my body seemed to put on around the middle, until I read this book ... that my body could not digest meat, therefore, it was stored as fat .... Ah ha! I have now gone to a total vegetarian diet. But this book got me headed in the right direction. I can't state how much weight I've lost since I don't weight myself. But I have lost many inches around the middle and now fit into clothes that once didn't fit. Plus I feel better. I notice that my food digests much quicker. I actually awaken with an empty stomach, something that didn't occur when I used to eat meat. I have the usual Type A immune problemts, colds on occasion, etc. But I've always had that, and this book gives suggestions on supplements good for me. So cool it out there!!!

Summary: It Seems To Be Working For Me
Review: I purchased this book because I had been having a lot of digestive problems, like embarrassing gas everyday, and heartburn that was becoming more frequent. Also, during the past few years, I had gained 10 pounds and nothing I did seemed to make a difference. I attributed it to the fact that I was "middle-aged" and began to dread getting "old". I found the book to be very interesting, but wondered about the scientific aspect. Was he making this up, or could it be true? I decided to give the diet a try, just to see what would happen. As a "B" blood type, the information in the book revealed to me that the almost total vegetarian diet I had adopted in the past five years was incorrect for my blood type. I read the food lists, and discovered that many of my favorite foods were on the "avoid" list. I made some simple substitutions, giving up "avoid" foods, and replaced them with foods from the "highly beneficial" and "neutral" lists. I added meat and fish back to my diet a few times a week. To my great surprise, within three days, all of my digestion problems cleared up. The gas and heartburn disappeared, and have not returned for four months. An added benefit has been that I have lost nine pounds. This happened within the first two months. My energy has increased, and I feel pretty good! A few times when I have splurged and eaten foods from the "avoid" list, I have developed temporary digestive problems, but they immediately go away when I return to the Blood Type Diet. I asked a physician friend to read the book, and he refused to do so, because it had not been "peer-reviewed" in the medical journals he reads. He expressed concern about the unqualified people writing books and taking advantage of the simple people, like me. Well, all I can say in answer to him is that it simply seems to be working for me, and I cannot argue with the positive results I have seen. I am back to my high school weight and feel good.

Summary: A cure for edema as well as promoting optimum health.
Review: After partially tearing my achilles tendon, being in a cast and wheel chair for 6 weeks and going through 6 more weeks of physical therapy I still had such incredible edema in my foot that I could not wear a shoe. I picked up Eating 4 Your Type one day and thought at this point what have I got to loose in trying this in order to get better. In three days of following the "B" diet my foot had definition for the first time in months with very visible bones and tendons. I put on my shoe and went back to my busy life of gardening, socializing with my family and friends. It was short of a miracle! As an additional perk I feel more energetic and better than I have in a long time and am slowing loosing weight. P.S. As a further testimony to the validity of this program I went off the program and my foot swelled up once again. I learned my lesson and can't tell enough people I run into all about Eating 4 Your Type. It is truly amazing that this works.

Summary: About Face
Review: I was dubious about this book from the start, then after having a bowel flare-up (a common occurrence)decided to compare the ingredient list of what I had eaten with the poison list for Type A. Sure enough - there was the culprit - cottonseed oil! That was too much of a coincidence. I am now on this Spartan diet, and I allow myself to cheat on Saturday only. I'm on it with optimism about the curative part of it more than the weight loss part. I understand it does both. However, in 10 days, I've lost 3lbs on my Healthometer. I notice that the negative reviews have all been people who haven't tried the diet but criticize it in general. They say all diets make you lose weight when you give up all the fat stuff; they miss the point. The point is: It cures!

Summary: Eat less, exercise more, save your money
Review: This is one of the worst "diet" books I've ever read. The theory is specious at best-- a basic knowledge of human evolutionary history and understanding of the scientific method will show this. Also, the "lifestyle" is nearly impossible for families with more than one blood type. Of course, anyone who follows the suggested diets will lose weight--they don't provide enough calories for a normal adult (one of them hovers around 800 calories). And if you happen to be a Type O, you'd better be independently wealthy to be eating all that organic beef. Think of the people like this author who make money ($30 billion/year) off those who need or think they need to lose weight. Take the money you'd spend on this book (and pounds and pounds of high-priced meat) and buy yourself something nice, like a massage or half a pair of decent walking shoes--or send it to your local food bank and feel good about yourself. Take the time you'd spend reading it and visit someone who's lonely. These will fill your soul and make you feel better than any food or being thin will.

Summary: Eat Right for Your Blood Type
Review: I started following this dite for AB+ on June 29, I can't tell you how free I feel since I gave up beef, chicken and Pork. The constant pain in my gut is gone and I no longer have heartburn, unless I eat something on my avoid list, like perhaps relish in some tuna salad. The weight is coming off and for the first time in a long time, I don't feel trapped in my body. I can also for the first time in my life eat food without guilt! You can't imagine how it feels to someone overweight to not get pleasure from food, I am now able to enjoy my food and know I am helping my body! I thought I was alergic to Citrus like pineapple and lemons, now I find I can enjoy them because it was with other foods I needed to avoid where the problem lay. I thas been so fun to discover I could finally control my eating and my body!
