Rating: Summary: Touching, sad, beautifully written - I loved it! Review: I hated for it to end, and when it did, I went back to the beginning and read it all over again. I have never been so touched by a story. It was beautifully written. I just can't say enough good things about this book. I have bought copies for my friends because I refuse to give up mine.
Rating: Summary: ONE TO REMEMBER Review: CERTAINLY LIVED UP TO THE HYPE, COULDN'T WAIT TO START BUT REALLY HATED TO END THIS EXQUISITE READ. IT CATCHES YOU FROM THE FIRST PAGE AND BY THE TIME THE LAST PAGE IS READ YOU JUST HATE TO SEE IT END. SUSIE IS A CHARACTER TO TREASURE AND SOME TO THE SENTENCES RENDERED BY MS SEBOLD ARE TO BE QUOTED IN THE FUTURE. THIS BOOK IS CERTAINLY A KEEPER AND IT WILL BE READ ON A REGULAR BASIS AS IS "TO KILL A MOCKINBIRD", GWTW, ETC. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ " THE LOVELY BONES" AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR OPINION IS. ENJOY THIS SUPERB STORY.
Rating: Summary: A Most Lovely Book Review: "The Lovely Bones" is one of those rare books that stays with you. It's hard to move on to the next book on your reading list once you close the book on Susie Salmon. I don't think anyone can review this book with words that can describe how beautiful, affecting, and thought-provoking it was for me. The murder of a child is horrific, but the sensitivity with which Ms. Sebold crafts the aftermath of the event from the eyes of the child in her heaven takes some of the sting out. She shows us that hope lives on, on earth, as well as in heaven. You will not regret reading this book--kudos, Ms. Sebold.
Rating: Summary: Wow. Just wow. Review: I got this book on Tuesday afternoon and couldn't put it down. I read until around 3 a.m., when I fell asleep with it on my chest. The next morning I got up, made some coffee, and sat down and read until I finished it. I don't think I've ever been so captivated by a book. Alice Sebold is an astounding writer. I can't recommend The Lovely Bones highly enough.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: I started reading this book on a rainy Saturday and couldn't put it down. The characters were so real and at so many points I just wanted to step into the book and lend a shoulder for this family. Written from the murdered character's persective it truly is a riveting book.
Rating: Summary: One Word. Wow. Review: What a wonderful read. Took me 2 days. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A good summer read Review: I was watching a Today show segment on new books being released when the reviewer commented, "If you only read one book this summer, this is the one." I don't know that I would go quite that far, but this is, nonetheless, a good time. If your tastes lean more toward literature than useless drible like Danielle Steele, and you are on the hunt for a good, quick read while on vacation, then this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: I hated to have it end! Review: It has been way too long since I've felt this way about a book. An amazing, gently uplifting story narrated by someone who could be any 14 year old we know. I'm so happy to have read it. Two weeks later, I am still thinking of Susie.
Rating: Summary: a triumph Review: This book is amazing: it confirms both our deepest fears and our greatest hopes about life and death, and in the end makes us deeply grateful for having read it.
Rating: Summary: Does life really end with death? Review: Not often do I pick up a book and say, "Wow, I've never read anything like this." Alice Seabold gives us a piece of literature that blossoms like a summer rose. It buds. The fragrance of her words permeate each page. As you move from chapter to chapter the story blooms. I'm reminded of Our Town and To Kill and Mockingbird. The Lovely Bones will become a classic.
