Summary: What a moving story
Review: I rarely dabble in fiction, and if i DO,I stick to crime thrillers, Patterson, Cornwell, ect. This book, which I experienced in audio- unabridged, captivated me from start to mystical finish. The innocence of Susie persists despite her coming of age as she grows while observing from heaven. A concept of heaven and life beyond, reminescent of the film What Dreams May Come, frees the reader to take comfort in the knowledge that they too will someday create their own heaven. The reader on the tape was seductive and kept my attention with appropriate emotion and meter. The story takes you through a full spectrum of emotion but pleasantly and leaves you pondering your own reactions to the events as they unfold. Like any great audiobook, I found myself yelling at the dashboard, fighting back tears, and sitting in the garage well beyond getting home to finish a chapter. Enjoy.

Summary: Could not put it down.
Review: When I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I thought the writing was clear and fluid. A great read!

Also recommeded: Angel Lover by Cynthia Cody

Summary: A beautifully written heart wrenching story
Review: I got the book at the library, went home to a quiet house, and I read for five hours until I finished the book. I could not put it down. I read constantly (favorites have been 100 Years of Solitude, Charms For an Easy Life, The Red Tent, Fall on Your Knees), and I put this in my favorites list. She writes with so much emotion that one can almost feel the torment that a family must go through in this kind of wrenching experience. There are no easy endings, no pat solutions with the killer getting what he deserved, but that is the way life is. Even with the incredible sadness of the events and the effect on the family, I think it is a life affirming story. I think this book is a beautifully written poignant story that looks at this experience through the eyes of the 14 year old girl. It is a treasure that makes one be grateful to be living, and it is why I love to read.

Summary: Lovely Bones
Review: Everyone should read this book just for the insight of what life might be after we leave this world. I also enjoyed how things were looked at in so many differant angels. I had trouble putting it down.

Summary: Loved it at first, then it petered out
Review: I was extremely impressed with this book when I first started reading it, but then it seemed like she didn't know where to go with the story and I felt the ending was very weak. The unusual premise of the book made me read a little about the author and eventually led me to her first autobiographical book "Lucky". I was surprised that she would end this book with a sort of happily-ever-after ending when one of the things that I took away from her first book is that survivors of violent crimes seem to carry it with them for the rest of their lives. Anyway, I would recommend this book but it does go a bit astray at the end. I'm also looking forward to reading more from Alice Sebold. If anyone does read "Lucky" it's very interesting to compare the author's real family to the family she's created in her fiction.

Summary: moving towards resolution.....
Review: When I first saw Alice Sebold's name, I knew it rang a bell. Sure enough, she's the author of LUCKY, a memoir of being raped in Thornden Park in Syracuse,N.Y., and the aftermath of that experience. I just happened to pick up that book a week after I bought a house about 2 blocks away from that crime scene. As a survivor of rape at 17 myself, it was an important read, though I felt that she must still have unfinished business about the event..Reading THE LOVELY BONES was NOT a too sweet experience for me- the possibility of death during my bad experience was obviously something Sebold has thought about extensively and the idea that THIS book came from working that possibilty through gives me great hope for the survival of the species. Bravo, Alice! I was moved, and unbelievably entertained, throughout the entire book.

Summary: the lovely bones
Review: the book was phenomenal. i could hardly put it down. it makes you feel that there is an afterlife and what it would feel like to live above watching the world after you have passed.
it looks at the lives of loved ones and how they cope with their loss. how their life goes on and how "Susie" continues to live through her family. it teaches you to appreciate what life is and how to live each day to the fullest.
i recommend this book to anyone who loves a good novel.

Summary: "Lovely Bones" a Lovely Story
Review: It is not often that I have read a novel that has made me think about it so much after I have read it like this one has. You truly feel like a part of the story. What first turned me on to this book was the perspective from which it was written. But what fueled that inital spark into a true passion for this novel was its ability to make me to feel the entire range of emotions that the charaters were feeling. The only disappointment that I found was the way in which the novel ended. While it seemed the Susie & her family had finally found peace, the way in which the reader was left was somewhat disappointing. Overall, I would recommend this novel to anyone.

Summary: I wish that I could of liked it
Review: I was really excited to start reading this book. It has received so much attention. It turned out to be a big disappointment for me. Maybe it was the reality of it. I am not sure. I don't need reality. I see it every day. I wish I could say something good about the book and I can't. I can't even call the book creative because I feel it was a rip-off of the movie "What Dreams May Come" that won an Academy Award back in 1998.
