Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: great idea for a book, hauntingly beautiful, what a wonderful writer - this is a book I won't forget for a long time
Rating: Summary: A Weird View of Heaven Review: The heaven portrayed in this novel is not the heaven that I grew up learning about or the one that is so popularly portrayed in the Bible, it is instead more of a slumber party fascination with the tastes of Ouiji boards and campfire ghost stories. I can suspend my disbelief enough to read the novel, but I don't actually believe it. This isn't one of those books that you can fall into and forget that you are actually reading. I also kept waiting for something to happen, down on the earth that the protagonist was watching, but it didn't. I appreciate that this is likely how things really happen on earth, but it makes for a boring novel. At one point, the spirit thing gets out of hand when Suzie, the main character murdered at the beginning of the novel, returns to earth. During this part of the story I actually put the book down not believing that the author actually though I, the reader, would go along with it. I was expecting a 'Touched by an Angle' sweetly tragic sort of Christian representation of the afterlife, but instead it was more of a teenage horror story.

Rating: Summary: Lovely and Haunting Review: This book was lovely and haunting. It details a child's journey from life to afterlife while she watches the effects of her murder on the people that she loves. It gives people a new way of thinking about letting go of those that we have lost.I give this one 3 stars because of the ending. After reading some of the horrors of the book I was disappointed by the ending (I don't want to give too many away here). Worth a read.
Rating: Summary: A great book and future literary classic. Review: This is such a wonderful book. I could not put it down until I actually finished it. Do yourself a favor and read it. It will take you to a place you never knew existed. RC
Rating: Summary: boring Review: After reading the first few chapters I started thinking...'I have to let my mom read this book'. But then the story dragged, and I began to skip a page until I was scanning chapters searching for anything new happening to the characters. This author took a unique approach about death but she couldn't keep my interest. My recommendation is to not bother reading this book.
Rating: Summary: Same as the rest Review: The Lovely Bones was a book that pulled me in almost immediately. The way the author shapes some of the characters, especially Susie's parents, left me wanting more and more. The part with Holiday and Susie meeting up after so long left me in so many tears that I had to put the book down for a few minutes and just cry. The author takes the book in a wonderful direction but abruptly makes a complete turn and ruins everything the book had going for it. I went in expecting something completely different than what I received. This can be interpreted as both a good and bad thing.
Rating: Summary: This was a best seller? Review: I am sorry, I was bored. I waited and waited for the climax to hit.. and then all of a sudden the book was over. They never caught her killer?! Are you joking. BORING! I think I might have to read it again... i think i missed something. I HOPE I did... because there was no point.. no story.
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Book! Review: WOW! That was incredible! I am a 12 year old middle schooler and after I read this book I managed to get my friends to read it. They don't read anything... (to busy doing stuff with guys I suppose but of course who isn't?) Anyhow I just wanted to say that this book was very touching, and well written regardless of what those idiot adults have to say, and yes it was definately dirty at points (mainly the end... very cute having sex in her friends body hehe) but I plan on buying it for my mom for Christmas so it wasn't that bad not anything I hadn't heard before at least!
Rating: Summary: no bones about it: a great book! Review: I was hesitant to read this book based on the sad theme it seemed to embrace. However, the whole idea behind it - a dead girl's journey to the beyond and her ties to the earthly world - really intrigued me. This book was hard to put down because it is so well written and transcends through space and time beautifully. There were chapters where I cried at the end, not because of sadness, but because the frail quality of the human spirit is so wonderfully depicted in this book. Please read it, for it is a book that will stay with you long after the last chapter.
