Rating: Summary: Artemis returns!!! Review: Artemis Fowl is back and this time he is teamed up with his one-time nemesis, Captain Holly Short, a fairy that he kidnapped in a previous plot to steal fairy gold. Now he must work along side Capt. Short and her superior Julious Root in order to stop a scheme undergound that will turn the People's world upside down. With Butler, his Eurasian human weapon bodyguard, Artemis and the two LEP officers must find out who is holding Artemis Sr for ransom and stop a coup led by the malicious Opal Koboi, a wicked sprite who is determined to rule the people and then the world. All the entertaining characters are back including Foaly, the slightly arrogant cenataur and Mulch Diggums, a theiving dwarf that comes to the aid, reluctantly, of the four major characters. With an underground war brewing, the race to save Artemis Sr. and even a storyline involving stolen Academy awards, "Artemis Fowl: The Artic Incident" succeeds as great entertainment and is a terrific read. I think this book was a good deal more adventurous than the first, which I also enjoyed. Eoin Colfer is crafting a series of books that are wildly entertaining and give the readers a great array of characters to enjoy. I look forward to the next book and recommend The Artic Incident to readers of all ages.
Rating: Summary: Prefer The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches Review: I found my kids are reading fowl much to my dismay. It isn't literature. You got farting trolls and such (book 1) and fairies and artemis. For the most part it is paper thin characterization and dialog, not much on plot either, BUT my kids do seem to enjoy the stories. AND I've got through 2 of the three books so far. Biggest thing I'm glad about is my kids prefer The Kingdoms and the Elves books which I believe are much better written (though not perfect either) and teach better lessons.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book!!! Review: I read it twice and every time I got more plesure and I started imagining how it will be if it can be true. I have already read three of his books and looking forward to the coming ones.
Rating: Summary: As wild and funny as the first Artemis Fowl adventure Review: A quick review by JFS:Artemis Fowl II is back, bad, and bold. The book starts with our young criminal in a boarding school, where he he outclasses his fellow students and teachers. On the way home to his manor, Fowl checks his email and gets quite a shock. His father, presumed dead for three years, is asking for help: The Russian Mafiya has him, and they want cash. Artemis devises a plan, and all goes well --- until they run into Holly Short (the kidnapped fairy from the first book). Look for better plot development and the same loveable characters in this lightweight but terrifically entertaining installment in the Artemis Fowl series.
Rating: Summary: SWEET book Review: as good as the first one! this is one of the best books i have EVER read!

Rating: Summary: Harry Potter's Better Review: In The Arctic Incident, Artemis fowl is back, and this time instead of a devious scheme to make money, he is on his way to Russia to rescue his beloved father. He is stopped, however, by LEP officer Holly Short who thinks he's responsible for the connection that was found between the vicious goblins and someone above ground. She quickly finds the Artemis is innocent, and they join forces first to rescue the underworld from a new villain, and then to save Artemis's father. I thought the previous Artemis Fowl was a deliciosly dark read. I liked the hero being a villain instead of another snotty hero boy (i.e. Harry Potter). The Arctic Incident however, was a real dissapointment. Artemis was the usual "good guy", there were the usual power-crazed bad guy in search for revenge, and Artemis didn't even come up with any spectacular plans. One can always guess what Foaly will do, when the Dwarf will do his thing and so on. A fun read, but a dissapointing sequel.
Rating: Summary: Almost unbearably exciting, extraordinary imagination Review: The first "Fowl" was a great book, peopled with well-drawn characters and a great imaginary world. The second book is an extraordinary advance on the first, with unputdownable sequences of rescue and danger and a much more complex plot. Eoin Colfer has an amazing imagination. The audio book is dazzlingly read by Adrian Dunbar and brings the text to life wonderfully.
Rating: Summary: Just as fun as the first! Review: Fun and fast paced. Artemis is a kinder, gentler teenage criminal mastermind, and it's nice to see his conscience has grown. I think the characters are not as fleshed out as the first one, probably because there are so many sub-plots. A quick, enjoyable read for adults!
Rating: Summary: I really liked it Review: I liked this book alot. It was a great sequel with just as good a story and with more great characters. I finished it very fast and wanted to read it again to get everything from it. If you liked the first book you should definetely read this one and expect a great read.
