Rating: Summary: The Trumpet of the Swan Review: If you like adventure, laughter, and romance, you'll love E.B. White's The Trumpet of the Swan. In this story Louis, a Trumpeter Swan who can't speak, learns to read and write. He learns to play a trumpet to win the love of another very beautiful swan named Serena. But even though Louis has a trumpet, he doesn't own it because his father (the old cob) quickly stole it for him, and so Louis takes on many jobs to get money to pay for the trumpet. Through his adventure, Louis is helped by a very nice boy named Sam Beaver. I strongly reccommend this book for all readers.
Rating: Summary: The Trumpet of the Swan Review: I recommend this book to any reader seeking adventure, fantasy, and fun. Aside from the fact that Louis the swan really coulkn't play the trumpet or write, it's hard to believe this book is fiction. This is because Louis' romantic feelings for the swan he loves are so realistic. The Trumpet of the Swan is about a young trumpeter swan who sets of to earn money, for his father has stealthily stolen a trumpet to help his son communicate. Louis ends up giving the people of Boston the time of their lives. I definitely think you shoulk read this book, for it is just busting with exitement.

Rating: Summary: by Review: This book is about a trumpeter swan who can't talk. Louis learns to read and write, but his family can't read. Find out the rest for yourself. We think it earned four stars because it had detailed writing and was based on a good plot.
Rating: Summary: A heartwarming, clever, and funny book Review: Kids and parents, read this masterpiece of juvenal literature. The book is a funny biography of a voiceless swan whose father steals a trumpet so that his son can express himself. Louis the swan learns to play the instrument, and uses it to make money to pay for the stolen instrument. Louis and his freinds reinforce such universal values such as caring, freindship, honesty and loyalty to oneanother as their adventures unfold. Laugh and cry along with Louis and his freinds, and I think you will agree that E.B. White has provided us with a classic piece of timeless literature.
Rating: Summary: audio version Review: i've owned the cassette version of 'the trumpet of the swan' for years, and i never get tired of listening to it. i'm very picky about narration; can't stand affected or overly 'expressive' voices. my gut told me to buy this because it was read by one of my fave authors. his voice is as genuine as his writing. to hear him make sound effects is a treat, and he when he reads a kid's lines he gets the spirit 100%. occasionally a trumpet joins in, but i'd rather that'd been excluded. in my opinion the trumpet playing is stale and artificial (with studio reverb). however, i'll take it as long as i get to hear e.b. white telling this wonderful story in his easy and laid-back manner. adults and children are captivated by the story and white's cool, new england/york accent. take it on a long trip and wonder where the kids in the back seat went until they bust out laughing along with you every 10 minutes or so.
