Rating: Summary: A tonic for your soul! Review: This book was recommended to me as a way to help me release the emotional pain I have been carrying for years. The prayers are inspiring and uplifting but never preachy. This should be required reading for anyone wanting to release the past and live and love for today.
Rating: Summary: Reveals basic truths that are too easily forgotten Review: This book must be read slowly and digested. It opens your eyes to basic truths that we forget through the course of lifes experiences and struggles. Gives you the awareness that life is what you choose to make of it regardless of its circumstances. Truly eye-opening, a book that should be read more than once.
Rating: Summary: Embrace the LOVE! Review: Marianne Williamon's, A Return To Love, is truly a blessing. I have read and reread this book over the last few years and I continue to be touched by Marriane's authenticity and clarity in presenting the principles of A Course in Miracles. It was through reading this book that I became aware of my capacity for love and how little love I was experiencing in my daily life. Marianne will challenge how you look at the religion, the world, and the heart's capacity to heal. I have read all of Marianne's other works but continually look to A Return to Love to offer support and guideance for myself and my friends. This book truly is a miracle worker.
Rating: Summary: life transformed Review: This book was exceptional in moving me toward the God I had decided, either did not care, or was not there. It helped me to escape the dogma of organized religion that insisted that I follow a man made/authored guidline. Now I can respect the Bible for what it is, and even enjoy its parables and teachings by realizing the existence of the imperfect human factor in authoring it. This was my spiritual leap.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE Review: I first read this book in 1993 after seeing Marianne Williamson on Oprah. I could feel the warmth and love coming from this woman on the TV. This was a very difficult time in my life. This book helped me look at myself, but most importantly, to look at others in a different light and with a loving eye. I learned how to stop blaming people for my failures and how to see my failures and experiences as valuable lessons. This "Course in Miracles" has truly made me recognize the miracles that occur in my life daily. I wish I could personally thank Marianne Williamson.
Rating: Summary: A Return to Love changed my life. Review: I had been struggling with some difficulties in my life that had me very sad. A lifelong friend of mine reccomended this book to me and I bought it immediately. It literally changed my outlook on virtually everything and everybody in my life. I've always had a strong faith in God and this book made me feel more peaceful and content with my life. I now truly listen to and care about the people around me. Marianne Williamson's explanation of love versus fear makes so much sense. These are words to live by. I have recommended this book to many of my friends and have given my own copies away a few times. It was a comfort to me during an uncomfortable time.
Rating: Summary: get back in touch with your spirituality Review: As someone who has turned away from organized religion, I found this book fairly palatable in re-examining spiritual ideas in a more religious sense. I believe this book may be very beneficial to others who are struggling with the idea of a higher power such as those who are facing the need to recover from a life-long addiction. The one major concern I have for this book is with the body section and her words about healing. Williamson seems to suggest that only true faith healing (the faith one finds in oneself) can truly cure disease. This distorts the biological component to illness and, although she tries to reassure the importance of medical doctors, demeans the doctors' role in biological treatment of illness. All illness has both a biological and a psychological component. Although "mind over matter" can facilitate in the healing process, it cannot be the only factor in the cure.
Rating: Summary: Our world need this Miracle. Review: Williamson helps the average person struggling with fear and doubt rise above the fog of this world to experience Love. Today, we face a high-paced lifestyle that is increasingly focused on th computer and Internet. I recommend "Life and Death on the Internet" by Keith A Schroeder as a complement to this book. Both books provide a great way to focus on the important things in life.
Rating: Summary: Marianne Williamson is a gifted writer. Review: Marianne Williamson is a wonderfully gifted writer. Her books are beautiful. She says so much with so few words and touches your spirit so gently. I have used quotes from some of her books in a class I am taking at my church, called Education for Ministry. Her experiences mirror so many shared by the baby boomer generation. I was in a bookstore in Oklahoma City 4 years ago and a lady saw I had a book in my hand from "A Course in Miracles" and she told me about the books that Marianne had written. I bought this one and instantly fell in love with her work. I bought it on tape so my children and I could listen to it together. We all enjoyed "A Return to Love:..." Marianne's ministry is well met in her writings. I hope she continues to share the love.
Rating: Summary: An elegant book about Love. Review: Great book about LOVE and what LOVE requires. It's commentary mostly about the course in miracles another hefty tome you should read after reading this one. I learned more about Love. Good companion to people who want to learn more from her tapes and seminars. She's currently a minister at the Church of Today in Michigan! I had an interesting conversation with her about Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. She's well read and knows her philosophy.
