Review: Because of Winn-Dixie
By Kate DiCamillo

This book is about a girl named Opal Boloni who's mother left, and is the daughter of the preacher. Opal went to the store to buy macaroni and eggs and came back with a dog. They had just moved and Opal had no friends. Because the preacher let Opal keep the dog, She made new friends.
I like this book because it remained me of when I first moved to my neighborhood. I did not know anybody. Then because of my brother I got to know my neighborhood.
I can recommend this book to students who love dogs. Then they will understand that dogs can help people a-lot.
The author did a good job selecting the front cover because it does not tell you most of the book. It only tells you the book is going to be about a dog and a girl.
Winn-Dixie is a gentle dog. He has a fear of thunderstorms. He was named after the store he was found in.
The genre is realistic fiction. Because it cold happen. Because of the dog she makes new friends.

Summary: Because of Winn-Dixie
Review: In the book called Because of Winn-Dixie there is a girl name Opal Buloni. She moves to Naomi, Florida and lives in a trailer park. This book is a great realistic fiction book that every one would love to read.

In the beginning Opal's dad, the preacher, sends Opal to the Winn-Dixie grocery store to get a box of macaroni-and-cheese, some white rice, and two tomatoes. When Opal went in the store she saw the manager was standing there all red-faced, screaming, and waving his arms around and yelling,"Get that dirty dog out of here!!!"

Opal thought she saw that dog smile at her. Finally the manager said to call the pound, but Opal did not want to see the dog go to the pound. Opal hollered, "That's my dog, don't call the pound!" Opal called the dog and named the dog Winn-Dixie.

This is a great book because this book is about friendship between humans and dogs.

Review: This is probably one of my favorite books. The author uses incredible detail throughout the book. It is very sad with a mixture of humor. She makes us feel like we are right there with the main character, Opel. We end up connecting Opel's life with our own. A definite must-read!

Summary: THIS IS A GREAT BOOK
Review: This book is an excellent book, with a meaning to it too. It is about a girl called India Opal Buloni(Opal for short) during the summer that she is new to town she goes to the super market not bring any food back, just a dog which she names Winn-Dixie (because that is the supermarket that she found him at). Her family which is only her dad because her mother left her at a early age (three in fact). Winn-Dixie is a very lovable dog who will bring you a smile on your face. He helped Opal (and her dad) make friends with the members in town. Opals dad is a preacher so Winn-Dixie helped Opals dad to not always spend time thinking about preaching, preaching, or getting ready to preach. Winn-Dixie also helped Opal spend more time with her Dad and learn more about her mom. You'll love this fantastic book!! It is one of my favorites

Summary: Because of Winn-Dixie
Review: This book is an excellent book, one of my favorites. It might be too easy for a nine year old like me but it still is very good. This book has a good meaning to it. It is about a dog that India Opal Buloni (Opal is her nick name)finds when she is in the grocery store an abandoned dog which is Winn-Dixie. He is very ugly like a big brown carpet left out in the rain. Most people would think that Opal and her family which is just her father because her mother left her when she was three had fixed up a dog, but really Winn-Dixie fixed up them. Winn-Dixie helped Opal make her first friend, when they were knew in town. This is a fantastic book I must say! If you have seen the movie Seabiscuit it is a tiny bit like it.

Summary: Terrific Because of Winn-Dixie
Review: Because of big , happy, ugly dog, Winn-Dixie, 10 year old India Opal Buloni makes many friends. She found this dog at a grocery store called Winn-Dixie, and the poor dog could have been sent the dog pound. She wouldn't have had friends if she never found Winn-Dixie.
I liked this novel because it was sad and always happy at the same time. This book is full of emotional parts. Winn-Dixie and India Opal Buloni always kind and sweet to everybody. People became friends often in this book and in every chapter there was a funny part. Reading this book will create emotion and happiness. I recommend this book to you.

Summary: I really liked Because of Winn-Dixie
Review: Beacause of Winn-Dixie is a really great book. I liked it because I like books about loving, kind dogs. I think the phrase like pet like owner really relates to the book because Winn-Dixie in a way is really like Opal.

Summary: Because of Winn-Dixie
Review: I absolutely LOVED this book! I am a fourth grade teacher and another teacher recommended I read this with my class. Every single one of my children at school truly fell in love with this book and the characters within.
This story is about a girl named India Opal Buloni. She finds a dog at the Winn-Dixie supermarket and takes it home to meet her father, the preacher. She's unsure if her father will let her keep it, but her father likes the dog too.
You'll meet some wonderful characters such as Otis, who works in the pet shop. He's really shy but loves to play the guitar. You'll also meet a lady named Gloria Dump who Opal considers one of her best friends.
Kate Dicamillo has a great way of describing each character and you'll find you can almost picture them in your mind with each description. You will come to love these characters and won't want to put the book down.
I definitely recommend this book to high-reading second graders through fifth or sixth graders. Of course I'm an adult and I loved it too!
Buy it! You won't be disappointed!
