Review: I gave this book 4 stars because it was a fun book. It could've had a little more action, but it is an alright book. I recommend that kids 8-years-old and adults read this book. It is a very funny book. It takes place in Naonmi, Florida. It has a 10-year-old girl and a bookkeeper named Franny Block. She also meets a guy named Otis. The girl's name is Opal. Opal found a dog in a grocery store and her father said she could keep it. It is a happy and sad book. It's happy because she found a dog. It's sad because the dog is scared of thunder. It's a good book, so read it!

Review: This story is about a girl that finds a dog loose in a store called Winn-Dixie in Naomi, Florida. This 10-year-old girl named Opal asked the preacher, her daddy, if she could keep the dog. Do you think the preacher will let Opal keep Winn-Dixie? In this story you will meet a sweet old lady named Miss Franny Block. You will also meet Otis and Gloria Dump. When everyone is having a ball and a storm moves in, they loose the dog. Do you think they will find the dog? Read the book to find out!

Review: Becuz of Winn Dixie is a cute story about a friendship between a dog and a lonley girl. its a deep story too. i'd give it 4 stars because it was mostly good but was a bit boring. if you like nice stories w/not too much adventure and a happy ending, then read this one.

Review: This is a story that will stay with you long after the reading is done. The characters are well drawn and the adventures are perfect. Take this trip with an endearing 10-year-old, as she learns to live in her new town in spite of the loneliness she carried with her.
There are no "meanies" in Opal's world, she learns, only new friends to be made. Some visions are forever memorable. Like the "bald-headed babies" and the preacher hunching his shoulders ready to tuck his head back inside his shell like a turtle. Oh, and "pinched-face" Amanda!
Kate Dicamillo draws the reader, young and old alike, into this quite, small town in the country parts of Florida and the Southern lifestyle better than old photographs. The story will gently lead you to discover how to open your heart to allow friendship to grow inside where the pain of loss once took up all the room.
This is a completely delightful book about letting go of the fear of rejection and allowing new possibilities to bloom into friends. Opal found more than she even knew she was looking for strolling through her new town, and it was all because of a lost dog no one wanted, who she named Winn-Dixie.
My 5th grader discovered it. I now claim it as one of my favorites, too!

Review: I rate this book five out of five dogs. Because of Winn-Dixie is a terrific story about as lonely girl, named Opal,and a stray dog, named Winn-Dixie, who change each other's lives. Winn-Dixie helps Opal make friends in her new home, Naomi, Florida. She moved there with her dad, the preacher, when he got a job there. Opal is lonely because her mom left when Opal was three. Because of Winn-Dixie, Opal meets all sorts of new friends. I recommend this book to all people who love dogs. This book is special because it won the Newbery Honor Award in 2001. Winn-Dixie is the first book by the author, Kate DiCamillo, who works in a children's bookstore. I rate this book 5 out of 5 dogs and highly recommend it to all who like great stories about dogs--especially those who don't die at the end of the book!

Review: I thought Because of Winn-Dixie was a great book. Kate Dicamillo, the author, described the people- how they dressed, how they felt, and how they looked. I thought that was a great idea. I would have to say my favorite character was Opal Buloni because I liked her attitude. To tell you a little bit about the story it took place in Florida. The main character is India Opal Buloni. If you like illustrations there are none in this book, but I do think it's better with no pictures, because you could imagine it in your head. It's like you could see everything happen like you're there. India Opal Buloni has lost her mother and had moved to another place. She found it very hard to make friends. As she tried to make new friends she starts to build up friendships with everyone excepted the two brothers that make fun of her. Also, there's a dog that she finds one day named Winn-Dixie. The dog guides her to meet more and more friends. Like I said before Because of Winn-Dixie is great. So go and read Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.
