Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL STORY . .. Review: I was made aware of this book because it is on the William Allen White list for my 3rd grade son. He really wanted to read it but it was a bit higher than his reading level so the teacher suggested us reading it together . . . it was a very inspiring story that we will always remember. Winn Dixie proved to be a very best friend to little India Opal, who was becoming curious about the mother who left her. Through the story with Winn-Dixie, Opal meets many new friends and finds out how deep love can really be. . . An outstanding selection . . .

Rating: Summary: A sweet girl from Flordia Review: The book Because of Winn Dixie was a very good book. The book gave a lot of details and interesting facts. One of the characters in the book is very sweet. Her name is Gloria Dump. Gloria is a old lady who lives by herself and she has no one to talk to until Opal comes along and becomes her friend. If I was Opal I would be at Glorias house every day to talk to her. I would recommed this book to anybody because this is a fantastic book. This was the only book that caught my attention.

Rating: Summary: Need a good read... Review: A story soon to be a classic and a must read for anyone who has ever felt lost in the world. This story is about a young girl and her father. India Opal and her father the preacher move to a new town in northern Florida. She has trouble making friends and her father keeps himself emotionally distanced from her. He asks her to go to the grocery store and she goes but comes home with something that wasn't on the list...a dog that she named "Winn-Dixie," and it is because of Winn-Dixie that her life starts to make changes. This book is an enjoyable read for any age. The author has done a wonderful job of setting the location of where the story is taking place, whom the character's are and gives the reader the feeling of being in the story. The text is not hard to read but some of the dialect could be difficult. There is a bit of understatement in the book that may be hard for younger reads to understand but not enough to discourage reading, the writing style is one that fits the story line. On a personal level I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever felt lost in the world and needed a friend. Having grown up moving around in the southern states I truly connected to this book and if nothing else this is a great book about a girl and her dog.
Rating: Summary: Shannon's Winn-Dixie Review Review: I think "Because of Winn-Dixie" was a great book because there was a lot of exciting characters and Winn-Dixie was funny. It shows that some people may want to be your friend even though they are a bit mean. Dunlap, Stevie, and pinched-face Amanda were mean in the beginning of the story and then turned out to be nice. It also shows that you should never judge people by rumors going around. For example, Dunlap and Stevie said that Gloria Dump was a witch but she really wasn't. You should definitly read this book because you won't be able to put it down! The End.
