Rating: Summary: My class couldn't get enough! Review: A fellow teacher came across the hall with bloodshot eyes from crying and said, "Oh, you have to read this to your class!" She had just finished this wonderful book and said the ending was awesome. I instantly began this story the following day and the children (both high and low readers) were glued to each word. This is a pictureless book, so we talked about the pictures in our mind. The author does a wonderful job leaving you with cliffhangers/building suspense. This book is also great exposure to life's problems and lessons. I couldn't stop talking about this book and I know many, many people who have since purchased or rented the book since. I honestly do not know of any other book that has had the same effect. Her novel Rising Tiger is wonderful as well.
Rating: Summary: Because of this book... Review: I loved this book! It was our class read-aloud book! I love dogs and I want one just like Winn-Dixie! I think Opal's last name, Baloni, is funny! I also like when Winn Dixie sneezes and runs around during thunderstorms. If you like dogs I'd stronly recomment this book!
Rating: Summary: A Review of Because of Winn-Dixie Review: A Review of Because of Winn-Dixie Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate Di Camillo is a great book to read. This story is about a lonely girl named India Opal Buloni who finds a stray dog in a Winn-Dixie grocery store and takes him home for her own. She names the dog Winn-Dixie. This story has two important messages about friendship. One is that friends can make us feel less lonely and the other is that we should not judge people by their pasts. It is what they are doing now that counts. I highly recommend this book because it is short and funny, and has interesting characters.
Rating: Summary: Because of Winn-dixie Review: This book sounds like a true story because the view point is through a child's eyes, someone young and someone who has kind of a "bubbly" attitude. Even though she is not an adult, Opal knows not to judge people or to take things for granted and she is proud of herself and her dog Winn-dixie, which helps her along through the story. Actually, Winn-dixie is the one that teaches her lessons and communicates with her even though they cannot talk with each other. They turn out to have some pretty fun adventures together and learn stuff too!
