One day Opal's father sends her to the Winn-Dixie grocery store. But when Opal goes inside,there is an old stray dog causing trouble! When Opal heard the manger was going to take the dog to the pound, Opal said it was her dog. So Opal kept the dog because she does not want him to go to the pound. Opal named the dog Winn-Dixe, after the store!
Because of Winn-Dixie Opal soon makes a lot of new friends and is very happy! I would recommend this book to anyone! But you will have to read this book to find out the ending!

The manager was just about to call the pound but then Opal says it is hers.The manager askes her what is the dogs name so she just says that his name is Winn-Dixie! The manager is shocked. This book is really interesting. I would recommend this book to any one that can read!
