Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee's book, Artur Feghali review Review: This book is great for kids with 12 and 13 years old. This book shows conflicts that happen in real life and how to resolve it in a reational way. It gives good exemples that happen to everyone in the family. The only negetive exemple of the book was when Maniac Magee ran from his uncles house. This is a bad influence that some 9 or 10 year old boys might follow the same exemple in a way to resolve his problems at home. The rest of the book is very good teaching and mixing with entretainment of Maniac Magee's adventures. The part in the book when Maniac get to do the same things as `the old dead zoo maneger was very fictional.I gave one less star because of this. The book looked like a beauty and the beast story when everything finish with a happy ending.
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee AF report Review: This is a great book to show conflics that happen in real life. This books is great for kids of 12 and 13 years old because it connects to you and with some problems you might have at home. The only bad side of the book I saw, was the bad exemple that Maniac Magee gave by ranning from his problems at home. This is an exemple that can influence kids under 11 years. The rest of the book shows good influence like how to be a citizen, good learner, freind and how to deal with hard situations in life. The book is also verygood because it joins the good influence and the entertaining of Maniac's adventures.
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee- Jessica Review: Have you've ever known a boy who ran away from home and survived? Well, if you want to know what fantastic book it is. It's Maniac Magee. It's a fiction story written by Jerry Spinelli. The setting of this book is a little town called Two Mills. The main characters are Amanda who is black, and Maniac, Mars Bar, and John McNab who are white. In this story Maniac tries to get the people he loves to be friends. Since his parents died in a trolley wreck, he is trying to find a family to stay with. If you're looking for more fantastic books by Jerry Spinelli here are a couple of these books: Dump Days, Space Station Seventh Grade, and Night of the Whale. I would encourage other people to read this book and other books by Jerry Spinelli because he writes strong, powerful, and a little over exaggerated books. But hey that's what fun is all about! So if you get a chance to read this book Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli, take that chance.
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee - Jennifer Review: Looking for a good book? Try Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli. It's about a fictional character that gets the name Maniac because he is fearless. While he is there, he discovers racism. Two Mills separates blacks from whites. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fiction. And if you're not interested in this book try Night of the Whale or There's A Girl in My Hammerlock also by Jerry Spinelli.

Rating: Summary: Only a "Maniac" wouldn't LOVE this book! Review: Maniac Magee, by Jerry Spinelli is an excellent book. Not only is it meaningful to the reader, it gets the reader so enthralled that it creates a feeling like you are actually living through the story with the characters. The adjectives and descriptions used by the writer create such vivid pictures for the reader that you can't help but feel like you are actually experiencing what you are reading. Other than that, the characters are unique and the tone facilitates suspension of disbelief. The writing style includes varied sentence structure and the point of view presented is incredibly interesting. I enjoyed the approach to the issues of race and the way that they evoked emotion from the reader. The book is about a young boy who comes to be called Maniac, many people think he is a legend because of the amazing things he accomplishes as a young child. It is said that he ran away from home and travelled around, running everywhere he went. Throughout the book Maniac encounters many obstacles, and in the end unites the black and white communities of the town and he eventually finds a place there that he can call home. I recommend this to readers who enjoy books that are lighthearted and fun, but also will teach you important life lessons. If you are young or not I believe that you would enjoy this book. I personally related it to my own life, since I knew of the locations that were talked about in the book, although I am not from there, it is close eneough to me that I could have actually visited there, which made it all the more real. This would be an excellent book to use in a classroom as a teaching tool relating to racism and stereotypes. As the main theme, it is pretty serious, but not overwhelmingly deep, it is presented in an excellent manner that is easily related to readers of any age. Although the book is sad at parts, it is so involving that it's a garaunteed quick read.
Rating: Summary: Review of Maniac Magee Review: Review of Maniac Magee By: Clay I thought that the novel Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli was an excellent novel. The novel kept me interested the whole way through. I could really picture the two different sections of town and Maniac himself. I could picture the two ends of town because it reminded me of a town where I'm from. The town is divided but not by black and white, but by a bad end and a good end. I could also tell who Maniac was as a person because of the dialogue that he used in the novel. When Maniac told Amanda "I'll bring it back. Honest! If it's the last thing I do. What's your address?" I knew that Maniac was being honest and was going to return the book. You can also tell that Maniac is a really unique kid. He's unique because of all the stuff he can do, he can run really fast, catch a football with one hand, hit Giant John's fastball, and many other amazing things. I also liked how the novel shows Maniac's point of view toward racism and the differences between the East End and West End of town. The book shows that Maniac saw both sides of the town as being equal by having him live in each end and having him go from end to end with out having any care or hatred toward either side. I would recommend this book to someone who likes novels with a lot of action in it. Maniac is always doing something that is exciting and amazing throughout the novel. I also would recommend this book to someone who wants to gather information about racism and separatism in a unique way. This novel gives the reader a view from both sides of the racism spectrum with the east enders and the west enders. It also gives a neutral position on the subject through Maniac's eyes. Overall I thought this novel was an excellent novel and I enjoyed reading it and learning from it very much.

The feats that Maniac achieves lead the people in the community to call him a hero. Even though Maniac does not have a normal, practical family, many people care about him. Not only do they allow him to stay in their homes, but they worry about him when he is gone. Jerry Spinelli creates a tale that will captivate young readers and keep them reading to discover what will happen. Young readers will be able to relate to the adventures Maniac gets into and they will learn a lesson of bravery and trust.
Rating: Summary: Good Book! Review: This is an adventurous and exciting story about a boy named Jeffery Magee. Jeffery Magee earned the nickname Maniac Magee baecause of all his adventures and his mysteriousness to the other children. He was always on the run. When he was a little boy, his parents both died and he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle. However, they were not happy people at all and made a dreadful life for Maniac. So one day, he started running. He didn't know where he was going, Maniac just wanted to get away. So he ran and ran and ended up in the Norristown area of Pennsylvania. The book goes on to tell of his many adventures. Maniac lived in a zoo for awhile, wrestled the biggest knot in the world, and much more! I liked this book alot! It was a nice easy read (suitable for upper elementary), and the adventure and excitement never stopped! I was always wondering what Maniac was going to do next! I especially enjoyed how Jerry Spinelli creatively weaved in a theme of equality for all persons; No mater what your skin color, a person is a person, color is of no importance, we are all equal.
