Rating: Summary: A Story of a Hero Review: "Legends are made, not born." THis goes for Jefree"Maniac" magee. Maniac Magee is a suberb, engrossing novel by Jerry Spinelli. Jefree is thoughtful, energetic, and rude 12 year old boy. After Jefree was orphaned, he went to live with his aunt and uncle, for a short time. He then ran away, but he didn't know at the time, he was on a journey of a lifetime of adventures. When he reached Two Mills, he encountered many problems. After a while he realized that there was a East End and a West End. The East End was for the black people and the West End was for the white people. Maniac meets and then lives with a girl named Amanda Beale. After living with Amanda he lives with two other families (not including the buffalo pin). One of many strong points in the book is the intense and vivid language. Jerry Spinelli also gave you thought-provoking descriptions. There are also many week points amoung this book one of them is that it is unclear to tell Which side Maniac is on. The East eand or the West end? The message the author is tring to give is that friendship will always triumph over discrimination. This book is reccomended to children on higher reading levels, 5th grade and above (Adults will also enjoy this bright story). This novel is remakable, gripping and riveting book.
Rating: Summary: The Mysterious Maniac Magee Review: Maniac Magee was a great book. I wanted to read more because I never knew what was going to happen next. For example, when Maniac was going to the birthday partie, he said he was going to bring someone. I couldn't wait to find out who he would bring. I also found Maniac yo be very mysterious. Every page I turned, I hoped to learn something about his life so I could know him better. The book told about Maniacs adventures with friends like Amanda Beale, but I wondered about his life with his parents before they died. Another reason I liked Maniac was because he was a good person and a role model. He didn't care what color a person's skin was. When he walked down Hector Street, which was the invisable line that divided the East End from the West End, he walked right down the center. He could not believe as the others did. Your skin color should not control where you can live, work play or walk.I definitely enjoyed reading this book. Maniac's life was interesting and unpredictable.
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee was exciting Review: Maniac Magee was a very exciting book. Everytime I read a chapter it made me want to read more. There were parts were they would leave off and I wanted to no what would happen. I think it was very interesting that Maniac had no parents or no place to live. Even though I felt bad for him it made it interesting. I disliked that the book was very confusing. Maniac would move from place to place so it was hard for me to keep track of where he was.
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee Review: I enjoyed Maniac Magee but it was too sad for my taste. I liked the end because he wound up living with the family he liked the most. The reason why I think the story was kind of sad is because at the start of the story Maniac's parents died in a trolley accident. It was also kind of stupid because Maniac could have stayed with the Beales but he didn't.In conclusion I would recomend this book to somone my age.
Rating: Summary: A RACE TO THE FINISH Review: Maniac Magee was an interesting book, that i enjoyedreading. there were a good variety of characters, for example MarsBars and Piper McNab. at first they didnt like people of a differentrace, but toward the end, they did'nt mind as much. if you took anycombination of characters and compared them, you would find atleastone similarity and one difference. another thing i liked about thebook is that if you ever got board or didnt like a certainstoryline,it would soon change. Maniac was always moving. Forinstance, if you didn't like Grayson or the band shell, Maniac soonmoved ...One thing i didnt like about the book was that it wasconfusing. The setting, charactors, and emotions kept changing. Thatmade the story hard to follow and understand at certian times. Thevariations of personalities, characters, and storylines made ManiacMagee such an enjoyable book.
Rating: Summary: The Book is a Good Story Review: Mainac Magee is a good book. Because I like that Maniac was helpful to people. For example, he took care of Hester and Lester to kept them out of trouble.I like how well Maniac got along with the Beale chidren and the McNab children. Also the the Beale's and the Pickwells were very nice to help hem. The things I don't like is that Maniac" Aunt and Uncle won't even share or talk to each other. When Maniac came along he had loses his friends. I will racommend this book.
Rating: Summary: WHAT I THINK OF THE STORY MANIAC MAGEE! Review: I thought that the story Maniac Magee was an exciting book. I never found it boring because it was filled with adventure. For example, you never could predict where Maniac was going next or which family he was going to stay with. What I found most amazing about the story is the willingness of Maniac to keep going despite all the problems that he encountered throughout his life. I didn't observe many things that I disliked about the story but one of them is the author's description of the characters, especially Maniac. It didn't inform the reader on what color his eyes and hair were. The other characters appearance were not too good decribed neither. But overall, I have more likes than dislikes.
Rating: Summary: I wasn't crazy over Maniac Magee Review: The book Maniac was okay, although it was confusing. This was because the book would start to talk about the Pickwells then skip right over to the Beales. Also because there were so many charecters I couldn't keep track of them all. I thuoght Maniac Magee was boring. This is that it always led from one problem to the next. For example, first Russel and Piper are stealing then he beats Mars Bar in a race. There is never a time with no problems for Maniac. This book was good because it left you thinking what was going to happen next. But it gave you an idea of what would happen. It was almost like a cliff hanger, but it would come back to the problem later on in the book. That is what I think of the book Maniac Magee.
Rating: Summary: THE INSIDE SCOPP Review: Maniac Magee was better than I thought it would be. It was full of action. You never knew where he would be next. There was never a boring part. I was always waiting to read it. That is what I thought of Maniac Magee.
Rating: Summary: Mars Bar vs The Cobras vs Maniac Review: I enjoyed Maniac for reasons such as it had short chapters, it was fiction, not a long book, and he didn't wan't to beat Mars Bar in disgrace. Also I liked when the the East Side liked the West Side. For example it had about 3 pages per chapter, not a true book, Maniac never wanted to brag when he beat Mars Bar in disgrace when Maniac ran backwards to humiliate Mars Bar. And also the West side liked the East Side in which Maniac introduced Mars Bar to the good side before he saw the bad side. What I didn't like about the book was it was confusing, the gangs and that Grayson died. For example it was confusing because he was always running from one place to another. The gangs were violent and Maniac's one true friend died. That is what I liked and didn't like about the book.
