Summary: Amazingly Touching
Review: This book is amazing. You don't think you would get attached to two red coon hounds and a boy named Billy, but you do. And when you see how the story ends, well, lets just say I cried.Summary: Billy really wants a dog. Not just any dog, a red coon houns, and two of them. He slaves for 2 summers to save up enough money to by them. Then he has to go through the ordeal of training them to catch coons. He succeeds, and the result is amazing. Old Dan and Little Ann really love Billy. But, this book is also sad. The end made me cry. I really grew attached to Little Ann and Old Dan, in a way I never thought I could. But this book is not just sad. It is a heart-warming adventure story. Anyone of any age would be thrilled to hold this book in their hands. The price that you pay for it is almost nothing, and after Little Ann and Old Dan get next to your heart, you will forget you paid anything at all.

Review: Tony Malak Wasilla Age:13 This book is about a boy and his to dogs that he realy loves,their names are Dan and Ann. The boys name is Billy and he lives on a farm. Before he got the dogs he really wanted his dad to get him two hunting dogs, or at least one.His dad would not get him one because he needed a mule for his farm. One time when he was at the river he found an article that had two dogs for sale. He wanted the dogs so bad that he started to work so he could earn enough moneyto buy the dogs. The dogs where $75 so he had to work pretty long to earn the money. After he got the money he had to walk a long time to get the dogs.When he got there he did not have ten dollars for the food and cre but the seller was nice so he let him go. After a little while the dogs grew up he taught Them how to hunt for racoons. Pretty soon his dogs where the best hunting dogs in the town. He got in a hunting cotest and he won. After he won they baught a new house and they lived hapilly ever after.

Summary: A Heart-Warming Story for Everyone
Review: In this story, Billy Colman is a young curious boy that is in the peak of his childhood. Living in the Ozarks on northeastern Oklahoma, he has been brought with not cities, but hunting and other aspects of farm life. He finds his friendship in two bluetick hounds, Little Ann, the token smart dog, and Old Dan, the token tough dog. Throughout the book, different adventures include a coon hunting competion, fighting mountain lions, and of course, inevitable grieving loss of the dogs. This is one of the best books I have ever read. It can touch your heart in a way other books can't. I'd also be lying if I said I didn't cry! It has all thing a book needs: humor, drama, action, adventure, rage, and best of all dogs! And the book combines all the genres without flaw and without being choppy. The book is incredibly descriptive with the different characters and settings. The only problem is that some scenes tend t obe drawn out and slow in reading. This book is a must for all ages, although I recommend it for boys from the age 9-15, because they will be able to relate to what Billy feels, and also they will see a new aspect of life, living in a rural area on a farm. People who love the company of dogs, and such movies as "Lassie," "Far from Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog," and "Old Yeller" would find a liking to this book.

Review: Hey you, up there, yeah you. Have you ever read a book that just stuns you? A book thats humorous, depressing, adventurous, thrilling, and heart warming. Boy do I have the book for you! Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls is all of those things and more! In my opinion, this book just captured my heart! It was thrilling with all of the adventure, heart warming with all the love the boy had for his dogs, and depressing with the terrible accident that happenes in the end. This book made me think about my family and friends and how important they were to me. I just know that this book will do the same for you! Now wait a second, I know that this book doesn't sound like an action packed thriller or a deathly sad novel, but this book is a lot more then it seems!

Summary: Who Let the Dogs Out?!
Review: I really liked the book Where The Red Fern Grows. This book is about a boy who desperately wants to own two hound dogs and gets to buy them with the money he earns by working. The most exciting part of this book was when Little Ann and Old Dan were in the coon hunting competition. The least interesting part of this book to me was when Billy was working to earn the fifty dollars that he needed to order his hunting dogs from the breeder. Also, I thought it was boring when he was training the dogs after he had received them from the breeder. If I could change anything in this book I would change the part when there was a very bloody and gruesome accident during a coon hunt. In general I thought that this story was suspenseful, exciting, sad, and a great adventure all in one excellent book. If you like books with action in them, then this is definitely a book you should consider reading! DRM

Summary: An everlasting bond
Review: Billy is sick with "dog fever," and his form of it cannot be cured by his parents. All he wants are two coon-hounds, but his parents cannot afford them. It's after two long years of hand work when he finally earns enough money to buy them himself. With his new, small hounds, which he had named Old Dan and Little Ann, they "tree" enough raccoon to enter a coon-hunting contest. Billy and his dogs make it through to the finals, risking their lives to win the trophy. But they experience another fatal event afterwards..... This book is very touching, describing memories of a boy and his dogs who knew each other so well, it creates an everlasting bond. How "Wilson Rawls" wrote this novel is amazing and very emotional. The end can really make you a baby.

Summary: An incredible book that has no flaws
Review: "Where the Red Fern Grows" is a great book. It's the heartwarming story about Billy, a young boy who wanted a dog. After he finally saves up enough money, he ends up getting two hound dogs, and they were born to be expert hunters even at their early age. Soon Billy is taking his dogs coon hunting just about everyday and he even gets to take his dogs to a coon hunting tournament with his dad and his grandpa. But more than just great hunting dogs, Old Dan and Little Ann have a passion for each other that is so strong it's like they are two dogs combined into one. "Where the Red Fern Grows" is one of the most flawless books I've ever read and it's definitely the best animal book I've ever read. All the characters are interesting, the story never gets boring, and it's simply a great book about true friendship and adventure. Wilson Rawls does a great job with every aspect of writing this book from getting the reader deeply involved in the story to explaining the major events and the characters' emotions so well that it produces great imagery throughout the book. I recommend anybody to buy "Where the Red Fern Grows," it's simply one of the best books ever written. If you like the movie, "Old Yeller" of if you like books about animals or hunting, you'll really really like this book.

Summary: And So The Adventures Begin
Review: If you are going to read a book to your class, Having your class reading a book, reading a book to yourself, giving a book to a friend or relative, or any thing else, Where The Red Fern Grows ,by Wilson Rawls is the book for you. it is a wonderful and touching story about a boy, Billy, and his dogs. It starts out with a man looking back on his childhood, and how he dreamt of having some fine dog. Finally he got enough money to buy the dogs his heart was set on, and so the adventures begin. This book is very well written. It brings you to the place, time and point if view of Billy and his family, and without being too descriptive or boring. There aren't those chapters which you find in moast descriptive books where all that seems to happen is you know EXACTLY what a certain character looks like. Not only that, it is a real page turner. No matter how much you read you have to know what happens next. With every chapter comes a new adventure! If someone told you that a book about a boy and his dogs catching raccoons would be a page turner, you probably would not believe them, but you are never satisfied to stop after any chapter. Some people find the way that they talk with a southern accent gets in the way, but soon you will get used to it. I think it ads to the atmosphere. You should definitely at least try out this book and when you do, which should be soon, you will find it is a excellent read.

Review: One day up high in the mountains a boy named Billy was begging his parents for a pair of coon dogs, but he can't get because he's low on money. He went two years collecting money. When he has the right amount of money he asks his grandfather and asks him to order the dogs. When Billy's grandfather tells where his dogs will be shipped, he finds he will to go to another town to get them, he does. He hunts with his dogs every night. His grandfather tells him about a championship hunt. Billy goes to the hunt and gets in the finals. He wins the championship hunt when he returns home his parents tell him they have saved all the money from the coon skins he got. Billy's parents are very enthusiastic about moving because now the kids will now get an education. I recommend this story because it has action and some sad parts but you'll have to read it yourself to find out really how good it is.

This book is about a young boy named Billy who loves to hunt but he doesn't have any hunting dogs. He talks to his dad about getting some hunting dogs, but his dad said that they didn't have enough money. Finally he gets the dogs and goes hunting. This book has many hunting adventures. One of the big hunting adventures is when they are hunting for the ghost coon. A tragic thing happens when they do go hunting for the ghost coon that makes Billy feel terrible about it and thinks it is his fought.
