Rating: Summary: Where the Red Fern Grows Review: Where the Red Fern Grows is a sterling book! This book is a story of a boy and his two dogs. Billy's family is poor and can't afford many things. But Billy wants two coon hounds that he saw in a newspaper article he found. After working very diligently Billy finally gets enough money, earning it all by himself. Billy gets his dogs, but can he train them well? I liked this book because it was always interesting and intriguing. I also enjoyed the book because it was true to life. Even though I don't particularly enjoy hunting it was fun how jubilant Little Ann and Old Dan got when they treed a coon. It showed that both Little Ann and Old Dan were good hunters because they never meandered, they always got hot on a trail. Both dogs where always very loyal to Billy. The author did a stellar at describingg Little Ann and Old Dan. The dogs were not behemoths of dogs but they were still great coon hunters. They made a fantastic team! The River Bottoms seemed like a very serene place to be until Little Ann and Old Dan find a trail or bark treed! My favorite characters were Billy and Little Ann. I liked Billy because he was very diligent and hardworking, he never gave up. I liked Little Ann so much because she was always happy and hyper. I recommend this book to any dog lovers or hunters. I also recommend it to anyone who wants to read a very good book and have a good cry.
Rating: Summary: Where the Red Fern Grows Review: If you like books that have the main character fighting for what he wants then you will like this story. This story is really good in the beginning but gets sad at the end. In this book the author sees some dogs fighting and beating up a red bone hound dog this dog happens to bring back memories for the author. He then takes the dog from the streets and takes him home with him. Then he starts his story. As a young boy all he could thank of was having two hunting hounds, and he'll do anything to get enough money to buy his dogs to. He works day and night trying to earn just enough money, and once he gets these hounds he does everything with them. I would definitely recommend this book

Rating: Summary: Two Dogs And A Boy Review: Do you like books with adventure? Where the Red Fern Grows is the perfect book for you.'' It gives a lot of details like all the blood when someone falls on an ax. Billy hates not having two hunting dogs. His parents say no because they don't have enough money. He can't even have a gun until he's 21! He goes out for a walk and finds an ad for two hunting dogs on sale... He shows it to his grandpa and tells him to order them for him and he's going to save his money to pay for them. He makes his `randpa promise not to tell his parents. He agrees and orders the dogs. I thought this book was great because it tells how the boy feels about everything. The plot is really adventurous. If you like books like that, this is the perfect book for you. I hope you go out and get this book. It's GREAT!!
Rating: Summary: Find Out How Much He Loves His Dogs Review: Do you like adventure and sadness? Then the book Where the Red Fern Grows is the book for you. It is about a boy named Billy who wants some coonhounds, but his family can't afford them. He has to work to earn money to buy his two coonhounds. He has to travel to the city to get them. He has to train them, but to train them he needs a coon's hide. The bad thing is he doesn't know how to catch a coon. He named the dogs after two names he saw carved in a tree. The dogs' names were Old Dan and Little Anne. The boy and his coonhounds have many wonderful adventures. I like Where the Red Fern Grows because it is has sadness and adventure. I also like the way the boy cares for his two coonhounds. I would recommend this book to someone of any age because this book is a good book to read with the whole family.
Rating: Summary: The Worst Book Ever Review: I read this book for a report and i hated every letter of the book. All this kid does is cry, cry, cry, and cry some more. Every page i turn says "I never do this, but a tear came to my eye when i saw my dogs playing"....Its like who cares!! He cries when he sees his dogs playing together. And whats the deal with this "coon skin". What kid wants a coon skin so bad that they will like cut down a fifty foot tree. Especially at the end when Old Dan is attacked by a mountian lion and dies. And then Little Ann dies of "depression"!! Hahahaa. And then when the father gets killed by the robber!! I would reccomend this book if you feel like laughing.
Rating: Summary: A hilariously bad book Review: This hilariously bad book is humorous attempt to romanticize a hillbilly young boy's life in the US. You will laugh and laugh some more at the "coon hounds" and this spoiled boy (not in a financial sense but in other senses). For the full affect I recommend the audio book though as is his speech is perfectly accurate. If this book was written today it would be thrown away of course, but we give Mr. Rawls the benefit of doubt over time. Perhaps the most amusing part about the book is the rediculously unrealistic portrayal of country life during that period. Goodbye Mr. Rawls, and thanks for all the laughs.
Rating: Summary: The outstanding Where the Red Fern Grows Review: The outstanding book Where the Red Fern Grows is an very interesting adventurism book. It's a book about a boy named Billy who wanted coon dogs to hunt where he lived in the Ozark mountains. But the problem was, he had to raise the money himself by doing unusual jobs such as picking berries. Finally he had enough money to get his dogs and from then on it turned to coon craze. This is a book that you want to read if you were in fifth grade and up. I give this book a five star rating because this book is just that good.
Rating: Summary: Must Read! Review: Do you like to read books about the outdoors? Well, if you do, you need to read this book! In the book Billy wants two coon dogs but his dad cannot afford them. One day he goes down to the creek where the fishermen stay, and he finds a magazine someone had left behind. As he flips through the pages he finds the "for sale" ads. He reads one that says, "coon dogs for sale". They were cheaper than other dogs that were advertised, so he ripped out the ad and started saving his money, since he knew his father couldn't afford them. He did all kinds of odd jobs for the money, but I can't tell you anymore, you will just have to read the book. After he got his dogs he had wonderful adventures with them, he trained them, and he killed his first coon with them. I really liked the book. I guess it is because I love animals. I really do think you should read this book, it's great! I know if you like books about the outdoors you'll love this book.
